My favorite thing I never see anyone talk about is how the early villains of the series are all reflections of Vash in various ways. Each one has an aspect of Vash: his flair, his mechanical limbs, his humor/bravado, his skills with a gun, his reputation as a womanizer, all of it. Each of those villains is grotesque in a way, really showing how they are an exaggerated form of Vash. They are Vash without control or restraint. They show us that Vash could be evil, so easily, were it not for his principles. Of courses, Knives becomes the easiest example of this in the end, but instead of an aspect of Vash, he is a full reflection. It's poetic
Ahhh this is an interesting analysis!

DUDE- THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
Milly and Merrill don't follow Vash to prevent damage, they are there to settle the insurance claims as anything that Vash destroys is not covered by the agency because he's listed as a "Humanoid catastrophe." Basically an act of God.
Ahhh thanks for clearing that up bro
Even Vash’s bounty is removed as he becomes labeled a natural disaster like a typhoon than a person.
Meryl didn’t think Vash was the actual Vash the Stampede for the first couple of episodes. She was in denial until the Nebraska incident where she finally accepts him as the Vash they have to watch over
Say word!
@@KingKasper Episode 1-14 Meryl doesn’t think he is Vash the Stampede, she in denial. Episode 15, she believes he is Vash the Stampede. So in ep 1-14 it was a coincidence that they meet, not following him. They followed the rumors of Vash being in the location
My favorite is when she comes to the realization that he is Vash, Milly says "Vash wouldn't do that, he isn't that kind of person!" Right there Merrill's entire view of who Vash is is shattered. A deeply compassionate and very "human" Angel.
@@Jabullz Yeah. She has been watching him for so long that she thought she knew him well. He has always put on a face to hide his pain from the past
It was a cool moment when she realised, but I'm glad they didn't drag it out too long.
You must still be pretty young and have some innocence to you, Milly and Wolfwood smashed that night for a lack of better words haha
BRO WHAT LOL i don't remember
@@KingKasper yeah man when he asks her to hang out , then it shows her in the bed and my man's smoking a cig at the window shirt off and everything confessing his love
@@raider_reaper_4194 bruh my child mind must have blocked this out when I watched it back in the day 🤣
i think she may have been preg aswell. or there was hints to it.
She also got nude when she got drunk because it was too hot 😭. Also the way she cried when Vash let her know what happened. Fucking heartbreaking sir.
I like the manga better, the show is still good, but one of the things I like that the manga did was add another level to Knives and Vash's relationship, because Plants die faster then humans do so Vash is dying near the end of the series, and Knives does his best to help him because he does care about him in his own messed up way, looking for a way to keep him from dying, along the way he learns to become human like Vash did.
That's super dope!
No Plants are not dying faster than human. Only Vash & Knives bcuz they abused their energy too much. They used too much Plant power to the point it drained and can't keep their body healthy anymore
In some extra that approved by the author, Vash, although with his full hair gone black, still be able to live to 200 year old without using Plant power
How do plants die faster than humans when vash and knives have been alive for decades
@@Hater20Xbasically in the manga the more they use their powers the more of their lifespan this takes up, this is measured by their hair color changing (vash's hair turns near completely back at the end of the series)
”Humanoid Typhoon” is such a badass nickname
Man's a whirlwind of destruction 🌪️
One of the few stories I love to watch over and over... Because you learn a little more each time!
Very special feeling 🙌🏼
Bebop came close but there can never be an anime quite like this one ever again. Both are fantastic shows but I think I like this one quite a bit more
Agreed 💯
I love both
It’s like trying to choose between The sopranos or The wire
@@Onserio. You sir are a man of culture 🥂
I was waiting on Vash to realize he could shoot people to hell and back without actually killing them
🤣🤣
Right? He had enough skill to flick pebbles at bullets to deflect them. He could certainly deliver non-fatal wounds.
@@ryanhartmanisgreat big plot hole haha
He has done it a few times like shooting people’s shoulders, but it seems he only does it when he sort of has their consent, like in a duel, or if he really can’t see another way. Guess he just doesn’t enjoy willingly causing pain to people if he can avoid it.
I'm not sure if it comes through on the anime but Vash and knives are kind of variants on the organisms that are in the reactors. The reactors are giant terraforming apparatus with female shaped plants that are arguably sub sentient in the bulbs. Vash and knives are different because there male shaped and poses intelligence which might only be because of the human interaction they had in there early life. It's why they call him the "humanoid" typhoon because someone in his past knows him well enough to say he's human shaped but not human.
the manga I think has some plants from earth "also female shaped" showing up but I never got into the manga much. If there not using there giant hand cannons to destroy the towns around them then knives is convincing one of his sisters to melt down which also creates a lot of energy to destroy towns around them. Vash is mostly trying to stop knives.
Thanks for sharing
The earth’s fate is unknown but wars made super soldiers and nukes
Well actually I am almost certain that "humanoid typhoon" translates that way into English because in this part of speech "humanoid" is meant to be a literal adjective for "typhoon". As in "a typhoon that is shaped like a human". Also the people in the past did not give him that nickname, the people of the present that know the consequences of his relationship to Knives did because of how everywhere he goes, towns and cities miraculously get absolutely decimated. But yes although it is never explicitly stated in the original Trigun, all the plants except Vash and Knives are feminine in nature, while the brothers are the only masculine ones.
@TyphlosionGirl it's a weird translation anyways because (correct me if I'm wrong) typhoon is a tropical storm or part of one and Gunsmoke hasn't seen one of those in living memory.
The name was probably sensationalism by the press, and I forget how old Vash is (like 400 years old) but I have to imagine someone recognizes what he is even if they didn't know him personally but yeah they wouldn't be the ones giving him that name.
Humanoid is probably a demonization which people in anime are prone to doing.
Got to imagine there's plants on earth male and female shape, and not really sure if they present either way in the extra dimensions they come from.
Probably fanfare or something like it.
Knives does actually directly call Vash a plant (the name given for the power production facilities in the anime) which shows that he is that type of organism/being. Also Vash is about 109 years old.
Weow literally just relived my childhood thank for you the really well spoken in synopsis of the entire series.

I never thought of Trigun as underrated
Ya I guess in my area it wasn't popular
Super underrated in Japan :(
A lot of stuff I honestly didn't pick up on. Your video makes me appreciate Trigun all the more
Thanks man, appreciate you watching the video 🙌🏼
I'mma share a sad story. I have never watched Trigun before, nor read the manga. In fact, I only started in this world a few weeks ago.
I started watching original Trigun, KNOWING about the existence of Stampede, for the sake of my late friend. Vash was his all-time favorite character. This month has been his first anniversary of him passing away.
Yeah I never knew who Vash was so I looked it up and I said, I'd watch Trigun on his anniversary. March 5th.
I can see why he loved Vash, If he's well represented in the anime, I don't know. I never got to know If he read the manga.
I watched it all, and I'm up-to-date with Stampede too. (I wasn't sure If I wanted to watch it... I've never been fan of the cgi stuff or whatever it's called. But If found out I could watch it too, and enjoyed it, most importantly.) That last episode left me wanting to know moreeeeee! I think my friend would have LOVED Trigun Stampede too.
I love Vash too now lol, at least, from anime Trigun and Stampede. I like both versions so far! I think I'm liking Stampede a bit more though lol
My only complain is, original anime Trigun needed MORE KNIVES >:C Srsly, the main villain, wdf, WHY DID HE APPEAR SO LITTLE. I'm loving Stampede Knives far moooooore.
I should read the manga now, while I wait for next episode, woohoooooo
And I'm totally forcing a friend we had in common, to watch it too lmao. That's what friends do, force them!
Yo RIP to your friend! That's really cool of you to do that for them. Glad you enjoyed this series and see Vash as a happy memory. Thanks for watching 🫶🏼
@@KingKasper Thank you! And I read some of the comments saying that Trigun Stampede is bad. But please, do watch it! I'm really enjoying it, give it a chance! Like I said, I'm pretty sure my friend would have loved it too 😊✌

I loved this anime and am really enjoying the reboot
Thanks for sharing! I gotta check out this new reboot everyone's talking about!
I never seen anyone bring up Steve being a reflection/result of Knives’ mentality and that Vash got his ideals originally from Knives. Knives was the one that said that humans will accept the two and that they have to grin and bear it, comforting his brother after Vash was abused by Steve. This established a lot of Vash’s ideals later on, not only Rem.
Vash forgot because he was hyper focused on Rem’s death and never grieved nor recalled what Steve did. He only remembers what Rem said. Nor what the other crew members did either.
Oh and Knives’ pain receptors are the worst out of any versions of Knives. Nightow did that on purpose to bully him.
Ahhhh very good points the show is so deep and complex it really makes you stop and consider knives ideals
The algorithm brought me here and I’m absolutely loving it. Liked and subscribed. Keep up the good work!

I never understood what the end game was. Will vash just take care of his crippled brother until the die? I doupt knives will ever change even with vash taking care of him and showing him how to live a peaceful honest life. And what if knives heals again. His resentment just growing as the spent so much time unable to do anything for himself. Still one of my favorites and i return and watch it every.couple of years

I look forward to checking out the new anime, though I truly loved the original, though the manga more so. When this anime first came out, I remember seeing it in a magazine my older brother brought back from Japan. It made me redesign the main character in a little comic I was doing, which later became a game. He looked like Vash a bit when I initially drew him, minus the round shades and the long red coat. However I thought he looked a bit too serious and mean and though he is supposed to have a rebellious nature somewhat, as he is the lead vocalist/guitarist of what is called a Strife Metal Band (there is lore behind this style of metal), but he is supposed to be a bit light hearted though not goofy.
I do not know why or how it happened, but the Chocobo of Final Fantasy, particularly the way it looked in Tactics and Flammie of Seiken Densetsu 2, were part of his redesign as well as Fenrir of Norse myth, people actually see it, in his recent portrait sketch lol. But his main influences of course were a younger Roy Batty of Blade Runner and younger Thouzer of Hokuto no Ken.. I felt bad for those characters as a kid lol. A bit of Billy Idol was added, as was Mash from Final Fantasy VI.. My favorite character from my most favorite Final Fantasy of all time! The character is called, KD7302-Kydan on his home world, but Einar Ulrik when he is adopted, after being accidently sent to Earth (he leaves at 15 though)
The original game was heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger. There was no time travel, just travel to 3 different planets, derelict starships a massive city in space called Zot. We had called the comic/game "Armament of Volition", currently remaking both. This anime/manga is one of my most favorites, because it wasn't just good, but also made me stop doubting my work when I was a kid.
That's cool you were working on an original comic! Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
Trigun is one that I actually prefer the anime. Might just be a nostalgia thing since I did watch it before reading it but I love how well it's animated.

I love Trigun 98, but I love Trigun Maximum and Trigun Stampede more, and I'm glad Trigun Stampede is actually taking more of the story from it and expanding. Seeing/hearing of some characters that Trigun 98 never showed was so cool!! (I'm gonna cry if they show a certain scene from Maximum) Also Zazie the Beast gets more development/ a cooler design in Stampede which I adore. Same with Nai/Millions Knives, loving him rn. 98 knives is.... okay.
Actually I'm lying to myself about 98 Knives. I know the Trigun 98 was incomplete and was only based on the 20 chapters of Trigun and then diverges, but Knives doesn't compare to Maximum Knives, even Stampede Knives (the motives are understandable, he doesn't feel like a generic villain and he really cares about Vash.) Trigun Stampedes last episode got me in my feels. I love Vash and Knives in stampede, "Even if they hunt me, I’ll just run away! I’ll run, run, run, and keep running as far as I have to! And when things calm down, I’ll quietly settle by their side again. I’m Vash the Stampede.” 😭😭 mental breakdown stop doing this to me trigun.
Yo you're making stampede sound epic af 😂. Ima stop sleeping on it eventually
I also like Stampede, but after watching the 98 (I didnt grew up watching the 98 ver), I see why people prefer the 98 anime. But, still. Both has their own merrit. There's some part that the 98 did good, but Stampede also did better.
Stampede still have s2 to prove themselves anyway, we need to wait to judge.

@@hueeyholiday6260 pretty well? The cgi works perfectly it’s like watching borderlands in anime form
@@KingKasper please, please do. As someone who read Trigun The Maximum in full, it is CLEAR the plot is setting up some huge stuff from the manga that never got to be in the original anime.
Its got a different tone but if you take it as an alternative telling (or possibly a prequel which is what a lot of us are theorizing) its really good.
@@KingKasper It's Studio Orange, literally the only animation studio in Japan that seems to "get" how to do CGI right. One can argue that it lacks the SoL shenanigans that fleshed out the original character development and it does cut straight to the Vash vs Knives conflict with no "mystery" as to what's happening. But this is largely because Yasuhiro Nightow was basically on board with the animation team and felt the original was far too padded and wanted this intentionally aimed at people who had seen the original. So yeah, when the creator of Trigun himself says "I want a version of my story closer to and more tightly knit for old fans" then I'm on board, not sure how I would have felt if they just made the changes on their own but knowing Stampede is actually what the creator envisioned his manga to be animated like made me far more accepting of it.
Plus Knives first appearance is hands down one of the best first villain entrances of the year, possibly of several years.
Looking at the Vash and Knives now, I see a lot of parallels between them and the twins of Devil May Cry. I really wonder if Capcom’s writers were fans of Nightow.
Ya now that you mention it Virgil and Dante are quiet similar and the big red coat is also a signature of the main characters in both series! Good catch 🙌🏼
@@KingKasper Same with Hellsing's Alucard. Both wear a red duster-style coat, carry large handguns and wear orange/red tinted circular framed sunglasses.
@@SSD_Penumbra Alucard’s guns are definitely very similar to Dante’s Ebony and Ivory.

I watched the og when i was like 14 and I recall thinking it paled in comparison to Cowboy bebop. I only bring that up because at the time people would constantly compare it to cowboy bebop because they both have a sci-fi western thing going on. Wolfwood was a legend though.
from a video making/plot explaining stand point, I feel like you need to explain stuff like the 5th moon incident if youre going to name drop it because the timeskip seems random/confusing the way you framed it. Same with like seed home and some other name drops. I know you cant explain everything about the plot, but i feel like some of this only makes sense if youve already seen Trigun. something else i try to look into, but i think The existence of plants in the Trigun universe can be explained through the concept of Hopf fibration, where the plant's true form exists in a higher-dimensional space beyond our three-dimensional reality. By mapping artificial general intelligence (AGI) and artificial neural networks (ANN) onto the fourth dimension, the plants are able to project their shadows onto our three-dimensional world, allowing them to interact with humans and our environment. However, in order to maintain their forms in our world, the plants require human intervention, as it is humans who cast the systems that bring forth the plants into our world.
To sustain the forms of the plants, they are kept within bulb-like tubes filled with bio and nano materials, which they use to create an image of themselves. The plants then interact with humans and our world, helping to materialize and convert molecules on an atomic level. This process is highly efficient due to the optimization achieved through the incorporation of any and all materials around them.
However, independents like Vash and Knives are different. These plants were created by pouring the right amount of bio and nano particles into the modified materials, left over from previous generations of dead plants, which have been modified to remain stable outside of the initial container and then casting the algorithm into the fourth dimension. As they grow, more materials are given to them in order to reach optimal form. Knives is stronger than Vash because he was able to produce better results in incorporating the materials.
🤯 you just blew my mind
Wolfwoods death always hit me because it could have been prevented. Sad to say, I think he learned the hard that the way that you can’t save everyone.

@@KingKasper Basically the timeline is completely different. Like Vash is all sad yet July hasn't happened yet. So why in Vash sad if his defining moment to why he became whom he wasn't a factor. It's so messy
@@ExeErdna If you've watched stampede I personally think it was kinda explanatory in ep 8-9 why vash is sad. He was very guilt ridden by Knives' action and his gas lighting and the fact that he couldn't do much compare to Knives. I think it's enough reason he became as he is in stampede timeline. I didn't watch or read any of the og but recently I'm starting to pickup the mangas
@@killemwifkindness Yet that's why it's bad it's overplaying Knives too soon. Plus the July incident didn't happen yet so the timeline is even worse when it comes to Vash's guilt and Wolfwood's involvement.

@@ExeErdna Each to themselves I guess. Personally I think there's nothing wrong with how it's played out in stampede, the show was running on typical 12 ep per cour and knowing Orange, they hardly make any anime that continues to a 2nd cour. They did what they could to introduce most important characters within limited episodes, established their motives and backgrounds as much as possible as well as carve stand out personalities in them. I'm saying this without comparing with the og, judging stampede as it is in itself. Imo, I think it did well. Even though I do have slight beef with its pacing during ep 2-7 and the tempo of storytelling within each episodes, I don't think the problem is too much in general to the point of saying that the whole show is bad; it surely could do better. I understand it could be some kind of prequel to explain the change in tone and focus as it's knives in his "prime" with total control and powers compared to the future where he may need to rely on mechanical weapons like Vash does, but it felt like a gundam was gonna show up at any moment with a lazer sword all the time.
What if there a reboot of Zatch Bell will you watch ?
Probably
Hell yea
Possible can make base Yugioh manga anime?

You got it all wrong beard it was on TV in the '90s. I know it was on TV in 2001.
Japan and America air different years + re-runs in America
The show is confusing to me.
I probably missed a few episodes knowing my luck but I never understood how they ended up where they are and why vash the stampede got his namdigayor not to mention why he had a bounty on his head.
Yeah there's a lot to the series but hopefully this explained video helped shed some light on it
