Is A.J. Griffin related to Eddie Griffin. He was a 3 point shooter back in the day. Stone great pick up. Go Rockets đ
Eddie was also the 7th pick by New Jersey and was immediately traded to Houston on draft day. The Rockets released him after two years because he had off the court issues and fights amongst the team. His 3P shooting wasnât that good eitherâŠor as good as it was expected to be.
Summer league is actually pretty cool. Went last year and Jalen was even supporting from the bench. Great video Jack Gat!

There was no one to pick at that point anyways. Aj griffin is a better gamble than anyone in the draft that far in the second round.
I would have loved it more if we traded up to have the first pick in second round and drafted Kyle Filipowski.

@@teebriggs9105 worst draft in decades. Most likely no one there second round. They donât even think they draft even have one superstar. Maybe 1 allstar and thatâs it. This is a role player draft.
@@Bnguyen276yeah definitely a role player draft which is why I wanted to trade back from pick 3. But if we would have drafted Kyle Filipowski we would have had a really good draft with two good players in Reed and Filipowski similar to when we picked Amen and Cam whitmore.
@@Bnguyen276but the main and only thing Iâm mad about is that we traded our draft pick for next year in a more stacked draft class smh. Hoping reed is a really good pick up. And after watching AJ Griffin he looks promising to add to our young core.

Dante is one of the best rim runners, defensive rebounders, and rim protectors in this class. Will probably be far and away the best rookie the Rockets picked up this year if he can stay healthy.

Hawks fan here. AJ is going to be really good. He showed an all around game and is not just a shooter.
Wish we played him more but we donât really know what happened. Wether he had personal issues or if Quin just did not like him. I hope to find out the truth eventually b/c I think there was something going on behind the scenes.

Fred and AJ have a close relationship so I wouldnât be surprised if Fred was involved with this trade.
That is great to hear! If anyone can help AJ Griffin continue to develop into the best player he can be, it is Fred Van Fleet. So glad to have both on our team.
Great pod Jackson. if the Rockets can turn AJ around they have a steal. this is an under the radar move with high upside and very low risk. I have to give Stone his due credit. the longer he has this job he appears to be getting better at it. he's making the type of moves that position us for a massive leap while maintaining flexibility. we are siting in the drivers seat and didn't morgage the future to do it. we now have 8 young players who IMO make us the best young core in the league. there is a lot of talk about us star chasing, but I'm not sure we need to. we may have what we need already. with Stone providing the map and Ime driving the bus I feel confident we are on the cusp of greatness.
I really hope we bring unc back to be our small ball center
I read an article that said that Tari was gonna play too! I wouldn't expect to see more than two games from him but to see a starting 5 of Dante, Tari, Griffin, Cam and Sheppard even for a couple games would be AWESOME!!!

Tari shouldnât be playing. Heâs good enough to get his work in camp and the preseason. Amen is the one who should be playing. He needs the work on his handles and shot.

Itâs the Summer League which is no different than pick-up games at the gym. Why risk playing a guy whoâs coming off of injury in that setting.
Eric Gordon is a perfect example of a player reviving their career on the Rockets

This was a good trade AJ had a solid rookie season but due to Quin not playing him and he had some personal issues he didnât play well in his second year.
This is a low risk high reward move we got another shooter and if AJ is right mentally he could possibly get some minutes off the bench
