Kingdom Hearts on Steam - What Needs to be Fixed? (read pinned)

- Everyone is excited for the Kingdom Hearts games coming to Steam but there are some glaring issues in the ports that have yet to have been fixed. As someone who is interested in doing a KH1 let's play I want to make sure that the game is as enjoyable as possible. If we are rebuying the games then we deserve to get the best ports for our money. What other issues do you guys think need to be fixed?

This video was made before the Steam version launched. Some thoughts after playing the Steam versions a bit.
1. Had no issue transferring over any of my save files. Worked for KH1, KHRe:Com, KH2, KHBBS, and KHDDD. Did not work for 0.2 or KH3, please some modder make it possible!
2. Games do feel slightly smoother and stable
3. Audio glitches seem to be fixed but characters are still missing dialogue
4. Cutscenes are still 30 FPS
5. Some environments look worse but overall seem to look better
6. Still no soft resets
Wow, a good video. Can't wait for none of these things to actually be addressed though.
Better to make it and have it out there than to just say silent and keep giving them money for crappy ports :)
The cutscenes were generally at 30FPS on PS4. The only ones at 60 were some general non-scripted animation ones in KH1 and 2 and strangely a few of those cutscenes on KH2, the first one I remember being in the Hercules world.
Interesting. Really wish they could've just done 60 all around but it is what it is at this point.
1:40 Speaking of sound issues the owls just outside Merlin's house are missing their sounds ever since the PS3 port. And some vocal clips and stuff are missing since then too. Jafar's "All shall bend to my will - the world is mine to control." quote is broken and doesn't play the second half.
Yes this is true. Should have included examples in the vid. At least the sounds being super loud and unbalanced SEEMS to be fixed.
Zero issues thus far between my 4080S and my Steam Deck. Only been on KH1 though and about to finish it up
ReCoM has a terrible controls issue that no one really brings up.
Apparently this issue began with the epic ports but basically with ReCoM, in EVERY prior release you could jump to your card reload by pressing up on the dpad. If you press down on the dpad, it jumps to whatever shortcut card you have selected. Left and right dpad are used to cycle through your cards.
Well, for no reason at all it is changed in PC. It is now left and right dpad to jump to shortcuts and cycle your cards is up and down. It's extremely visually confusing, because your cards cycle left and right on screen. There is also no way to rebind the controllers without messing with your menuing in the game. So basically your pause menu UI would be controlled with left and right, and not up and down dpad. So it makes things like deck editing a complete nightmare to do or even basic menu navigation.
The cherry on top is on every other port of ReCoM there is a control type option call "Battle Controls" in the settings option on the pause menu. Well, this is removed on PC on both Steam and Epic versions. What it does is let you remap lock on enemies with R1 instead of R2 and R2/L2 would be used to cycle through cards. The game functions worse controlwise than any other version of the game ever made.
I have never noticed this, but I did feel that recom's controls did change a bit. I always used the shoulder buttons to shuffle through cards. Can remapping fix some of these issues?
@@Xemns You can't remap the dpad because it basically would make left become up dpad and right would be down dpad (so it also means that up and down dpad would be right dpad and left dpad if you change the button calibration). So when you go to use game menus like editing your deck, it's a disaster. You can change the shoulder buttons but I'm pretty sure it changes the control scheme for every game. There used to be a simple toggle option in the ingame config that was removed.

Forgot to mention this in my vid but it would be nice if they fixed some 60FPS glitches which still exist especially in KH2. This video was made before the Steam release came out, but I've been told many of these issues still exist.

I wish they fixed the crash issue cause im on a alienware computer and my system meets requirements but it keeps crashing when i try to boot up KH2 i hear the waves from intro but it crashes after a fewnseconds
KH2FM and KHBBSFM title in the Japanese credits are correct. But in English are not it like at the main title it says kh2fm/khbbsfm and in the credits it say KH2/KHBBS. Did anyone notice this?
That's weird I never noticed that. I did hear of issues with the game crashing after the credits of some games though.
After KH2FM/KHBBSFM after credits did you notice the logo say KH2/KHBBS and Final Mix logo is not under them. I noticed it since the year 2014

Anyone else had a bug where anytime you try to save a pop up window saying “Failed to save Game Data” on every game except KH3

the farthest i've ever gotten in the series was preparing for the final battle in the first game so i can't say much, however when i went to make preparations by getting the strongest gear, getting materials like thunder gems was really annoying and repetitive, so if they could things like fix charades so that they're easier to understand that would help, also make the graphics optional, i love hi-def but at the same time i don't want to lose that 2000s feel
Yeah I understand what you mean by that. There are mods to get older textures back. Also Thunder Gems can be farmed off Screwdrivers in Atlantica and they aren't too bad to fight. Don't think they will be mechanically changing these games at this point.
@@Xemns i spent ages trying that, and it took forever, not to mention i have a few of the ocean so that doesn't help, but maybe increase drop rates, like how bambi could fail getting good stuff 70 percent of the time

I started playing with KH1 and I'm in the very first island. When I spin around mostly towards looking at the middle of the island the FPS dips pretty hard. Is there a lot of stuff like that in the game?
What's your PC specs?
@@Xemns 3080 graphics card, AMD Ryzen 5700X 8-Core Processor, 32 gigs of ram. I feel like I shouldn't be having issues. I get plenty of FPS but it feels like I'm getting screen tearing no matter what I do and the FPS fluctuates. Yes I have tried v-sync and turned off g-sync that hasn't worked either.

Is the a fix for the crashes out there already?? I can play most games but kh2 is unplayable, it crashes with most cinematics, i havent even gotten to the end of the roxas part in the beggining. Its really bad.
i have an rtx 2080ti and the cutscenes max out at like 10 fps and the sound just crackles. I cant find any video of anyone else with this issue. Anyone else having this issue? This is for kh1 final mix to be specific. I havent tried 2 yet

When I tried to play Kingdom hearts I got a .net framework error and that 1.5 crashed on me.
Try downloading the correct .net version
I just finished KH1 last night, and by finished, I mean the final boss is dead, and the game crashes, 100% of the time, every time, on the final cutscene. I've seen them before obviously, but as far as trophies go(I'm not a big trophy guy, but the PRINCIPLE), it looks like I've just not finished the game. KH2 on the other hand doesn't load AT ALL, and I mean I get to the start screen, new game, difficulty, vibration, as soon as I click to start, I get a black screen for 2 seconds and then boom, crash. Tried every setting imaginable, different FPS, unlocked/locked, fullscreen/windowed etcetc. Feels like I just spent £28 for KH1(I don't care much for CoM), needs a fix ASAP.
I was one of those people who kept waiting for the game to get ported onto Steam. After finally getting it, The port has issues with random crashes and pop-ing up windows.
I'm what areas specifically? It's felt more stable on steam for me
Is it as bad as it is on Epic? Because they refused to fix the problems with the epic games port.

@@Xemns I ended up dropping for it, and the crashes are just as bad. Maybe worse. Can’t play more than 10 minutes at a time without a crash. On my ROG Ally or on my PC setup. It’s simple laziness on the dev’s part. I’m not expecting a fix, they never did it for the epic release.
Sorry about that. If your pc build really doesn't support it, I suggest playing on PS5/4

i have a 4080 and all around a monster pc. i started KH Final Mix. the menu gave me the option to select the fps i want. i selected 120 fps and started a new game. the first cutszene was horrible. the Video had stutters and the soundtrack too. it felt like it was lagging behind and not synchronized. after i moved my char a bit i thaught it looks and feels weird. i was upset and wrote it off as a failed bad and lazy steam port. i refunded it too even tho i was hyped to play. i thought : "well i could try to use other fps settings but with my hardware" but this can't be the solution! because
if your hardware can surely handle it, all fps options should run smooth which makes this a software problem. I love the KH Series but i won't support needing to fix every game that releases on steam through google searches and because it wasn't propperly tested before the release. paying customers are not supposed to be threated as Betatesters while selling a "finished product"

Kingdom Hearts 3 is pissing me off. How is it no way to pause?How is it no way to get back to the main menu Why can I not change controller Configuration the way I want it It's like foreigners got ahold of this game.

Ive returned the game and waiting for either square fixing the port or a much deeper sale for the whole bundle.
If we keep on buying botched ports they will continue to release them. Seems like they didnt fix anything and ruined things further by adding those badly optimized textures.
This video was made before it came out addressing what was wrong with the epic release. I do think they fixed some things, read my pinned. But yeah some textures do seem worse and will prob need to be modded out.
The 60fps glitches are the worse
