I was baptized at the Yuba City Stake and that will always be a special time, a good memory as the Feather River Temple for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is built.
I don't get how people of different faiths come together for something like this. There really isn't anything that is theologically in common. People of these different Faith's have different ideas about who God is. Especially Mormonism. Help me understand please
Even though people have different ideas about who God is, serving others despite differences is a sign of true discipleship. Jesus taught: "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Jesus ate with publicans and sinners and drank water fetched from a well by a Samaritan woman. He never condoned sin, but he looked favorably on those of other faiths, as long as they weren't hypocrites. Associating with them and serving them was how he had opportunities to preach the truth.
It doesn’t come down to what is different about us, it comes down to what is in common… Belief in a higher being and a Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, a love and respect for each other regardless of beliefs.
"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." -The Book of Mormon Mosiah, Chapter 2, verse 17 Page 149
Mutual respect among people of different beliefs, I love to see it!
