- Back for the first time in the 2020, the Oak Mountain High School Marching Band and Drum Line were at Heardmont Stadium on August 21st for the season opener against our home town rival the Chelsea Hornets and performed the world's most popular cadence/stand tune - JIG 2! This year's drum line features some new faces on snare, tenors, cymbals, and basses so let's cheer on this new talent! This year's OMHS Band Drum Line performs exclusively on @MapexDrumsUSA.

This is awesome. My boyfriend is a quints player and I’m in color guard. Drum line started doing jig 2 last year and it was so cool. This made me feel hyped for our season even tho it’s going to be super different this year. Nice job!!
Alison G. Thanks for watching! Best of luck with your season!
LUCKY!! They get to have an actual marching season!
EXACTLY, all my band is learning is show music from home
My school gets a whack season and we got new drums but it’s still a season
We are practicing marching technique, a parade march, pep band music, and other pieces.
We’ve been learning the show music, marching fundamentals, and parade marching. We just got permission to learn drill yesterday
We do too somehow
Why is almost no one wearing masks except the players
a wind player can't exactly wear a mask
They can when they aren't playing.
@@gentrywalker this is probably in between them playing but I see what you mean
Usually after a stand tune you have to immediatley play a fight song or be prepared to play another stand tune depending on what you have prepared to play, its escpecially annoying when woodwinds like myself have to rip off their masks right after playing a stand tune and accidentally chip or break their reed. But in all honesty idk what the point of wearing a mask while not playing music is, we kinda just spread germs everywhere when we play music. And then put them back on and then take them back off. It just doesnt make very much sense to me.
bc they dont want the players to have corona.
I mean thats how it is at my school
They have more snares than my whole percussion section
Do we really 😂😂
Snare rushing and tenors under playing
Bro, how did I catch this so early
Glass Window I’m glad you did. Thanks for watching!
Awesome OMHS drumline !!
I have been waiting for your new JIG 2 video.
With love from Japan
NSR-2205i14E thanks so much! Glad you stayed with me! Returning the love from Alabama!
We got 2 games
I feel the snares are playing too fast, therefore not together ._.
Yeah occasionally I hear it too and I play tuba, but give them some time.
See several snares pumping their forearm at the elbow. That’s what’s causing it. Make sure to rotate the radius and ulna for a smooth left hand stroke. If each of the players spent 10 minutes a day working 8’s at various tempos and fixed that left hand motion, they’d be very clean quick.
I love traditional, but it is extra legwork since all other percussion is a matched grip...except tambourine or Something like that...
chrisroode thanks for the advice.. I don’t actually play snare, so I don’t know how to make the sound cleaner, haha
Yeah snares are playing too fast I agree, and thanks for the snare advice to fix it!
Meghan Medendorp they always play to fast in these videos
It’s so cool! from japan
s1 ma2 thanks so much for watching!
Snares need to listen to each other. Not playing together
Ikr they’re dirty ash but they’re me plenty of time to clean
Yeah I could hear that they are def rushing a bit
The whole drum line is a bit sloppy but I LOVEEE IT. So much happiness. Timing is major issue and tenor rim clicks but it’s early in season.
Yeah
Found the band director ^
We didn't even get to March our full show in front of any body. Good for them
Bass 4 dont know his part
Dark_Legenda bass 3 too. I assume they were either new to bass or freshies.
@@_mptx_ yeah but new bassist (if your saying 5 basses) would get bass 2 or bass 3 they wouldn’t put new bassist on the bigger basses unless there amazing at drums
Logan Brown no the harder parts are higher
@@loganbrown6987 The bigger basses are easier than the smaller ones. People say Bass 2 is harder than all the other basses.
If my small school has a large enough percussion section, we would totally do this for a drum line. quints are awesome.
Thanks for watching!
1. Why is almost no one wearing their mask?
2. Why does Bass 4 not know his part?
3. Snare line is dirty af
4. (Just so I’m not a complete Scrooge) it was nice. I’ll give it a 7/10
How else the brass gone play through their mask that doesn't make sense
@@latrendaheard8547 they just take it off when they are playing and put it back on when they aren't
@@doodoot4236 for what its worth I put mine on when I know I don't play in that piece
Is it just me or is jig 2 dirtier than usual?
It’s just the snares
Ryan Manansala it’s everyone lmao
Probably didn't get to practice as much as past line because of rona

It was every one
Sticking here since four years ago to see this one
Bass splits were CLEAN! GREAT JOB ALL OF Y'ALL.
Man, once all three of us tenors in our marching band can get the solo part down, we've got this one in the bag! I can't wait!
Montgomery Cheese let me know when y’all get it posted. Thanks for watching!
when the world needed them most they returned
We will be posting the 2023 version soon! Thanks for watching!
your guys' band is super inspiring btw!! im starting marching band next year and im very excited cause our band's energy is similar to you guys
That’s awesome! Best of luck! Let me know how things go!
Good thing that Jig 2 was still there. I was just thinking about the jig 2 was been canceled because of COVID-19 virus.
Trying to capture what we can in this abbreviated season! Thanks for watching!
I think my popcorn is ready
Great video alabama is proud of yall
Is the wind section still playing as well? Can you make a video explaining how Covid-19 has affected y'all's band?
At least I put band, we have instrument bell covers, we play outside and our drill maintains social distancing guidelines. We are also not I. The stands while playing we are set up on our field’s track.
Thank you Oak Mountain now Elmwood marching royal pride is doing this jig💖
Awesome! Thanks for watching and good luck!
One of the lucky schools that get to have marching season this year.. props to guys for continuing!!!
The 2020 Season has been shortened to only 5 performances. No competitions, no away games, no exhibitions....We are all trying to get the most of the situation....Thanks for watching.
NOICE! JIG 2 is one of my faves!
The Nickelback of high school drum lines.

Greetings From Philippines🇵🇭
Auth Ten Vlogs thanks for watching! Greetings from Birmingham Alabama
My school never played the jig before
Y’all should give it a go! Thanks for watching!
Could you tune the tenor drums higher like the most popular video of this cadence
I wish I my marching was going this year 😔😭
None will ever top 2013s one. The crowd and just the players and the beat is just unmatched.
The quad solo in jig 2 is like wonderwall for tenor players
who else is watching this knowing they aren't gonna get to do it this year 😔
Thanks for watching!
Its amazing
Naruto Uzumaki thanks for watching!!
I wished we played you guys !! I would of loved to see the band in action
Kake Foster thanks for watching and be sure to check out the many videos of this band through the years.
Oh sick you guys did a snare feature I'd love to see more of that
Thanks for watching! I am planning more of these.
Yeah!!!!!
Something called quarantine. I'm just trying to get out of it. Nice one for the kids that aren't wearing a mask. Good way to spread it. I miss drumming too. But having a choice of not getting sick or drumming. I would not get sick. Have fun spreading.
Adrian Campos exactly. I’d rather be alive and drum 5 years later than never drum again lol
While you’re scared of a bogus virus the rest of will live our lives and have fun like in this video
@@thatoneguy285 dude you should get a medal for sounding so dumb 🥇

Yesss ! I know the beat and how it goes 😭
Freshie on quads I feel the pain bro
Y’all are so lucky
Thanks for watching!
The snare solos were clean
Im trying to convince my band director into letting us play this at my school.
where can i find a tatorail on that snare feature cause that was cool
I think it's called the "10-second lick"....maybe someone can comment?? Thanks for watching!
I like how the sound of the instruments changed
Thanks for watching!
so i see that they have new drums by Mapex
that is correct....Thanks for watching!
wow
Hoover high school gang 😎
They have never had good snares and y’all can’t denied it.
I am the ball boy and my sis is in the band so I love hearing this oh and my bro is Andrew McCallister #48
Dang, our band diesnt even play at the games after pregame this year. The band plays for an audience before the game starts then we do pregame and leave. Doing this allows more people to show up to the football game
This year the OM Band was not allowed to perform their pregame show. They only perform their marching show at home games and play stand tunes for the game in a redesigned seating arrangement. For away games they are taking a pep band. My observation is that the students are grateful for what they have been allowed to do and are all working hard to meet county requirements for safety. I encourage viewers to visit the official website at www.oakmountainband.com for all things officially related to this program. Also please follow the band on their official social media accounts...."oakmountainband" on Insta, FB and Twitter!!! Thanks for watching!
@@bwfitz half the kids in this video are not wearing masks. please do not pretend that they are grateful or that they are working hard to meet safety requirements.

Muito bom🇧🇷🇧🇷
Obrigado e obrigado por assistir!
Bem legal , eu acompanho vcs , u-u BRASILLL, de onde vcs são?
Ok BUT NOTHING WILL BE POPULAR THAN THE FIRST ONE
Theodides actually the “first one” posted is not the most viewed. The “second one” posted is with over 16.5 million views. Incredible! All together on my channel the Jig 2 videos account for over 35 million views. Thanks for watching!
Those base splits were rough
Jeez how many snares and tenors are there
Four Tenors and Six Snares! Thanks for watching
Bob Fitzgerald Of course man I’m in the drum line at my school !!
@@spencershults7201 COOL!
Consider re-tuing the drums for another performance
Clara Ramirez thanks for watching!
Those snares😬
Dang must be nice my band only can have 50 people in the stands so we are switching every week
With only 20 total my whole band can easily come
My band has a season but for games we must sit in the endxone
I can’t hear the second solo too much, but he did really good
Thanks for watching!
Just got beat by them at LMI and I can’t even be mad. Ggs - Auburn
You guys were awesome! Great show! Thanks for watching!
I get begged to play this on the quad line every game...
I should do jig 2 with congas 😛😂
Yes
Along with covid, we just got a new band director so it's been rough this short season.
Our season is very shortened too....best of luck! Thanks for watching!
Snare line clean it up
During COVID?
Yea games are still happening mate
My parents both died two weekends ago from COVID. This video really cheered me up and I'm proud of those who came with masks on. But I hope they all know that they'll be generally safe from the effects and typically won't go critical, but if they take that virus home to their parents, then that's a different story. Were they briefed on sanitation protocols before they were asked to go out and perform?
yeah, its a really cool video and all, but theres way to many people without masks, and just think about all the handrails and doorknobs that everyone has touched. I think its irresponsible and that administrators should've pushed it back to the spring like many others are
Yes but you do realize that they are teens and don’t care that much
@@ughh3113 Uhm, will they only start caring if their parents die like mine did?
Mmina Maclang My condolences go to you.
Are all these drums that are plays called snare drums ? I don’t know anything about drums please help
Damn we aint even allowed to have the band at football games because of covid
Mine is since there’s only 20 of us
Uniforms?
Most bands aren’t doing uniforms this year if it is a big band
We got our uniforms we just don't use them at the games
We can't use ours because it's a pain in the butt to clean them after every game
We don’t get to use ours we are a large band and pass our uniforms in after games but we are getting matching wind suits for games and parades
AGLOMERAÇÃO
Ever heard of The Pride of Southside?
Does not ring a bell....where is this? thanks for watching!
The people around them not wearing masks 👁👄👁
Ok karen
The band was most likely preparing to play something right after, so they were allowed to take their masks off. Everyone in the field/stands were most likely temp checked. They have masks as well, just when they’re not getting ready to play/playing they have to have them on.
It was all super nasty
Your Tenor players are super good man!!. Snares are going just a bit fast. Lock in that tempo. Also basses need to sub divide. But everything in genreal was pretty awesome. Hope to see more!!
To me i think the quads need a little more practice and need to slow it down a little while practicing but after weeks theh should be good and the snares need to slow it down but otherwise they nearly perfect
Jig 2 Olivia Rodrigo
Could’ve been mic’d up a bit better. Hard to hear the tenor solos sometimes but hey that’s alright. Good performance
I love how the rest of the band is a mosh pit for the drum line
The basses... are they missing a bass?
TDWProductions no there are five. Camera angle was off. Thanks for watching!
Bob Fitzgerald ah ok
Gotta love the responsible high schoolers going to a football game with safe distancing, whilst all having masks on ;-;
i thought u stop uploading
Groot TV I’m still here! Thanks for watching!
@@bwfitz keep it up i will support this channel forever
Next time they do it it should just be those drums I could barely hear them cause of all the other instruments in the back
Thanks for watching!
wow! i love the amount of social distancing in this video! seriously how are they allowing this lmao
I mean from what i can see everyone is at least an arms length apart
It’s a band what do you expect they can’t exactly social distance
Danimal41014 not even talking specifically about the band, im shocked that the high school allowed so many kids to attend the football games. i mean i get it, let them have fun, but at least set limitations to how many people can be there and make them sit 6+ feet apart

First...
yes you are! Thanks for watching!
You can tell that kid was super nervous
