After watching this entire video, I think that all the players on the floor, ON BOTH SIDES, are very talented, and that ALL of them played their hearts out, and did a fantastic job! THEY ARE ALL WINNERS IN MY BOOK! GREAT JOB EVERYBODY!! Keep up the good work!! I loved it!!!!👍🥁👍
This could be really huge for the city of Chicago. I get goosebumps watching these young men and women put their effort into music like this. I wish them all the best and hope that this skill will take them wherever they choose to go.
We were doing this back in the early 80's, other schools had no idea what we were doing. Our director was a college drum person, and he brought this style to our band. We'd break out into this during parades. Won every time.
They have more of a southern playing style which is usually like for sound less technicality. White squad had balance in there beats red team just overplayed eachother. I played in a CIAA drumline and we play totally different

I honestly think the instruments has a big role in the sound. Would like to have seen them compete with the same sets of instruments to give a fair judging.
I don't really know if it's the hall making the echoes off for the drum groups, but I reckon If you guys stick together and practice more, you guys will eventually become just as good as the other drum groups on youtube. But in saying so about your timing, I think you guys were good, i mean better than me.
Red snares need to be tighten, white went in from rip. Coming from playing the entire percussion and being the only girl in the cobalt section for a year miss lady righteously did her thang🙌🏽
I think if the red team didn't have Pearl drums they would sound a little better, because at my school we used to have some and they didn't sound that good. The only ones that did sound good were the small Junior high beginning drums.
The one critique that I have is for both bass lines. Hitting these drums with such force does not make it sound good. You can have the intensity but you have to work on technique. But overall keep these kids involved in this activity

LMAO, the white team, especially their snare drum/lead is very arrogant. But good for both teams for putting so much heart into doing something they love and may that lead them to a better life.
The technique is a bit weird. BLK and white The scotch bass drummers should stand with their left foot slightly forward to assist with holding the drum and shoulders back. The snare drummers play with very loose wrist and don't pop off the head. All of this is the directors fault. Technique is to keep them playing without injurying themselves and bussing drum heads.

The entire blue team overwhelmed the red team but the guy with the beads in his hair got my full attention. He played with skill and passion.
