I bought top selling Amazon deer hunting accessories and took them on a hunt! Amazon Products: www.amazon.com/shop/ripnstiko... *These are associate links
THe smell of those earth wafers are extremely nostalgic for me, remind me of hunting with my dad when I was very young. I highly recommend checking out the Glenn's deer handle, it's basically a heavy-duty version of that amazon drag you got that's built to last. My dad has had one for over 20 years and it still gets the job done. Many memories of dragging huge deer through thickets with that drag and it taking it like a champ.
7:30 I'm new to bow hunting and have gun hunted my whole life. I always aimed for a double lung with rifle and learned my lesson this year when an absolute stud 9 point (neighbor got him and scored 152 green) jumped my string at 40 yards and i took the fur off his back. Still cant stop thinking about it. Heart shots with bow forever forward.
For a deer drag, I modified an old tree stand harness. Use a nylon strap with a carabiner on each end, make a slip knot around the deer's head and clip the other end to the tether attachment point on the back. Walk out of the woods as usual.
Butt Out works really well. I've been using it for years on end. I like the deer drag that you put your arm through the strap and put the strap around your shoulder. I wouldn't go for the plastic handle drag. I've seen the Butcher quickly go over the meat with a small torch to get rid of the random hairs stuck to the meat.
The milk weed works really well as you can visibly see where your scent is going until it’s out of sight or it hits the ground. For the powder type you can refill or make your own with corn starch or un scented talcum powder. The woman who was pissed at her hubby and said pocket lint would do the same probably washes her hubbys hunting clothes in something you can smell from the next county! That’s why her husband needs to check the wind! The butt out, never used one. Don’t need to. The butcher takes care of that! For the hair use a torch or lint roller. But wash the carcass down with a water hose and that should take care of the problem by itself.
I've used the fresh earth scent wafers multiple times and they work great. They used to sell acorn and apple scents as well which worked extremely well. Of course I was always super careful about washing my gear, scent control and I wasn't sitting in my stand moving around cameras either lol. That milkweed stuff looks awesome.
Best one you got was the Buttox tool...I use it before I gut the deer, then dont have to break the pelvic...push in, turn and pull it out...wha la....LOVE IT
I personally have been using the phase 3 wind checker this year and I love the stuff. As for the butt out tool it’s something else to break in the woods.
Have had the same fresh scent wafers for almost 10 years, use the pins they come with to pin to my hood or my hat…. Prolly doesn’t do much honestly. I have used the butt-out for years also, works great if you use before gutting and then tie off the tube you pull out, pull back thru and out with rest of intestines, great video, really enjoying the shorter review/testing videos
question about the butt-out, from what I saw in the review and from what he did in the video.....do you cut around the anus before inserting or can that wait until after you have it tied off?
Off topic, but newbie question; when having three different broadheads ready to shoot in your quiver, doesn’t the difference in flight tendencies between broadheads come into concern? Do you just aim differently depending on what you’re gonna let fly?
If you tune them they should all impact where you’re aiming. Mechanicals typically fly like field points, so not too much tuning required. Where you typically have some differences is in different arrow weights with different nocks or fletching sizes.
the phase system is from a channel called the deer society phase one is laundry detergent phase 2 is shampoo and phase 3 is field scent elimination so they have field foam and lotion along with the milkweed stuff
People can hate all they want. Using the butt out tool 'correctly ' with a zip tie is faster and cleaner than traditional gutting. Some tools do make the process better than yer Grand Pappy taught you 😂
The earth sent wafers remind me of my grandfather. He used so many of them things his pickup truck smelled like it all year round. I keep a container just to remind me of him.
I've used the Fresh Earth Scent and have looked at them all. The milkweed looks great, but I might just break up a leaf, etc. The Butt Out seems to work best with larger animals like bucks from what I've seen in the comments, it wasn't supposed to break the intestines like that. The drag also looks helpful. I'd probably pass on the grip sheets though. Thanks for a good review video.
9:00 Removing the bung should be part of your gutting process. Not hard, just need to cut around it prior to splitting pelvis, being careful not to damage the bladder.
I have the full harness drag rope and it makes it so easy to drag a deer out of the mountain... and you cannot blame the wafers for the deer detecting your movement... I've been using fresh earth scent wafers and have had less then a handful of deer wind me in over 10 years .. nothings ever gonna work perfectly but used correctly it definitely helps
Just use a blowtorch for the hair. For scent control, just mix in a bunch of branches and weeds from the area you are going to be hunting in the storage container with your clothes, all your clothes, even down to the underwear you are going to be wearing that day. Just be careful using pine/cedar branches around your underwear or you'll be finding some way to get pine sap off of your nutsack. 😁🤣 As for wind, just put the milkweed in your back pocket, no need to put it in a container you need to use both hands and a lot of movement to get results from. Just take one hand reach into your back pocket and pull out some milkweed and release.
You used the buttout wrong your supposef to use it before you field dress it and you just pull everything out when taking the guts out just push it in twist until its tignt pull out and tie it off
The butt out is nice bc you don’t have to cut out around the anus beforehand which looks like you did. Just stick, twist, and pull. I use another knife to cut down and the stuff falls off. 😅

You ever put it in your own?

Agreed. So I run my gear in an ozone tent but hang the wafers from my stand or pack once I'm in my spot. I haven't had a deer bust me yet.
That type of wind indicator has been around for 20+ years. Also to refill the squeeze bottle type use corn starch
That's a hot tip
You sir a fine gentlemen. I love the puffers they work great

Great job filming that, not easy Congratulations.

Another awesome video brother. Love the actual field testing in real conditions. Keep up the good work
Thanks again!
I think you’re supposed to use the buttout before field dressing
I would think tape would work just as good for removing hair.
The butt out tool is pretty useful.
The buttout works great been using it for years

what do you do with the zip tie?
Fun video for sure, like straight to the point and no waste of time, I think I’ll subscribe
Appreciate it.

Really enjoy your vids bud!!
Great video❤
I LOVE the butt-out tool!! It's amazing!!

Your camera quality and angles are amazing man!
Hey brother love your videos, keep up the great work putting out enjoyable content
Glad you like them!
I’ve never wanted to hunt more after watching a video 😂
Very informative and congratulations on your kill

It looks like the cover scent helped. She didn’t blow out. She just saw your movement.
To be honest this was a genius idea for a vid to get a ton of views good job for finding a in between spot
Best way to deal with the hair is to just use a blue torch
A cat tail would work for wind checker
Didn't know the butt-out was for the deer . Lol that thing has been stuck in me for weeks and cant get it out, send help plz
I use the wafers All the time and I usually pin them to my vest
4:31 🤧😂
Just use a blowtorch for the hair.

To get the hair off get a little map gas torch. Stay back a couple inches works like a charm.
That's my go-to method as well
We just use a blow torch or get the hair off lol
I put a cotton ball in my vest, when I’m I. The tree I pull just a few fibers off to check my wind.
You dont need to cut anything when using the butt out. It pulls it right out cut free
Deer drag i use is rope and a piece of wood very cheap
What stand are you using
If you hang your deer for a few days or refrigerate quarters if the weather isn’t right, the hair brushes right off the pellicle
What bow do you use
How do you like the XOP hang on stand?
Had it for a few years - does the job.
LOL buying milkweed to figure out wind direction when you have millions of leafs all around you in the field.
a propane torch works great for getting the hair off. That's what I use
2F stand up!!!!!!
Hi! I dont hunt so im kinda clueless, why did you gut the deer there?
It's best to get that stuff out of it early to allow the meat to cool down quickly and to keep it all clean.
With the sticky strips, I think I’d use a lint roller
That is clever!
you should try out the liquid deer attractant from tractor supply
Will do!
Been tearing apart cotton balls for decades for wind checking. Way cheaper and I keep it in a pill bottle.
Why check the wind after you climbed up? Check it before you climb.
I laughed when i read the 1 star on the butt out. They didnt read the 3 step instructions and wondered why it didnt work.
I do not have milk weed in my area. I might look into the phase 3.
cattail works too
can someone tell me what a buck is pls?
I been using milkweed for years. It’s free, all I have to do is walk to the road.
the deer around you have some massive ears
Don't they all? Lol
What kind of camera do you use
Go Pro and Cannon camcorder
Pretty sure most of the bad reviews of butt out are from people who thought it was a butt plug
supposed to use butt out at start of gutting
Now you can refill the milkweed container for free
I’m sitting in the blind while watching this
I've had good luck hanging those wafers in the stand with me
The buttout has been in Walmart for 30 years.
Best thing to use for your clothes is to wash them in turpentine. You’ll be smelling like a pine tree.
Maybe a little light headed
@@RipnStikOutdoors yeah it doesn’t take much, just a little in the washer.
Just buy Scent Thief.
Why did you wait so long if you heard her crash to collect her??
To see if any of her boyfriends were going to come out.
You used the buttout wrong your supposef to use it before you field dress it and you just pull everything out when taking the guts out just push it in twist until its tignt pull out and tie it off
You 100% dont need a butt plug for deer hunting.
9:06...The review says he felt sorry for the deer....really?? The deer is dead
The butt out is nice bc you don’t have to cut out around the anus beforehand which looks like you did. Just stick, twist, and pull. I use another knife to cut down and the stuff falls off. 😅
Who taught you to drag a deer the wrong way
Crazy people buy milk weed it grows all over my hunting spot
blur out ur liscense plate
You're supposed to use the butt out before you gut
lets keep womans comments out of this, it doesn't have to make sense ladys... were allowed to use that excuse come hunting season 😂
I don’t care what anyone says that butt out thing doesn’t work and if you learn proper field dressing it works so much better
It's because you're using it wrong like everyone else lol are you another one that puts it in and just rips it right out? That's not the way
It definitely does work
So u use it on deer? I thought it was to hold plastic accessories
Butt out tool works phenomenally
Used one last week. Worked great
Dressing the deere butt out is disrespectful as hell
Wat
How sad it is to see that something as pure as hunting has been bastardised into fame chasing gimmicks like this rubbish.
Well no one is forcing you to watch it.
i use pieces of cotton balls to catch wind. cheap as hell. just as effective.
I keep my milkweed in a mini crown royal bag
That guy shoulda let that wife walk past and not taken her. Hahaha
