Talks a good game, but will be down to the quality of the players that stay and come in and performance will/can only be judged on points won.
Well he is certainly not who most Saints would have originally wanted as our Manager, but now that he is, we should give him our total support. I hope we don't get more of the constant passing sideways, backwards, a bit forward then sideways then back etc, without any chance at the end of it all. Passing game is great IF it ends with something. Please can we have a great start to the season for a change? COYRS!!!!
As a swans fan, the passing football was horrendous to watch on times. It took Boos from the whole stadium for the players to ignore Russell and just progress uo the pitch. On some occasions his passing football really shows how good it can be but I don’t think it will suit Southampton
yeah all i will say as a swans fan is give him time to gel with players because he will need it was the same with us but when it comes to the passing football fuck me it gets boring and will most likely cost you points at times but yeah goodluck to you lot for the season anyway

Crazy how little effort has gone into this in comparison to the Nathan Jones reveal / interview. The club really tried to force him on us… let’s hope we’ve got it right with Russel Martin, we need to get behind him

I seem to remember the same stuff being said about Nathan Jones by Luton fans and look at how that went. All we can do is hope this ain't just another in the catalogue of errors by the saints board.
@@stewartwyeth1302 Nathan Jones and Russ Martin completely different, RM a breath of fresh air, lovely guy and his philosophy of the game is great. Just needs backing ( will be some some scary moments along the way but I'm sure you'll be top 6)

Personally I thought the interview was good, he talked a lot of common sense but as we all know talking smart and managing whatever team we have is two different things. We definitely need a new striker and new keeper and to try and keep a few key players although difficult then we might have a chance to go back up.

Who thought it was a good idea having lights behind him shining into the camera? Oh yes the interview! This season forget promotion, better manage expectations, the mess we are in wont be fixed overnight. Rebuild the team, finishing in play off place would be a good season for us.

Mate best of luck because Sports Republic is arrogant and disconnected from the fans! With the greatest respect they have told you what they want in terms of the football, but do you plan to speak to the fans to see what we want ? What we don't want is possession football tapping it around at the back and either losing possession or just doing that with no progression or attack!

hopefully the players ignore RM when playing around with it at the back when under pressure and just kick it out and win the ball back. swansea gave away quite a few goals like that, it could easily be avoided.

In a boring game with nothing happening he substituted Yan Dhanda after 38 minutes. Not Swansea's greatest player but Russell Martin needed to blame someone (not him) for the teams poor performance. You can have him!

@@joshblackmore257 in a weak league with good board support. He was classless in defeat, telling all his were the better team after each defeat. He may prove me wrong, that a lot of his success is he inherited a strong squad at a well funded club. He will be under serious pressure now, he didn’t cope to well with that at Swansea. You’ll find out after 12 games…

Plays 70% of the game in areas that don’t hurt the opposition and too slow in transition, passing the ball side to side!
