    Simon always says slow feet, fast hands in any form video he does which is what your basically teaching here without saying it. Also in ball golf or disc golf you can only accelerate once in the swing and in disc golf you want that acceleration from the right pec to the hit. Great video can’t wait for the rest!

    Just stumbled upon your series and I would like to apply these tips to my daily drive challenge videos. I'm trying to throw 350ft by the end of the year. I feel like I have hit a wall with my distance drives because I have learned bad habits at the start of playing that I need to break.

    It's important to note that the whole "Slow is smooth and smooth is far" falls apart when you do like you did and take out the first part. Because slow does not equal far. Slow equals smooth which equals far. Meaning if you can remain smooth and be quick you can throw really really far.
    But for beginners slow is a really great tip as it is easier to remain smooth with a slower paced run up.

      @@discgolfteacher All good, nice video by the way and all in all a great approach to learning good form. Building good muscle memory with a slow pace and later on speeding up is much easier than trying to build smooth form with hard and fast throws.

    There is a walk up and a run up. For me, some of my longest drives were with the walk up. Slow and smooth is far.....and controlled.

    I’d say it’s farther because it’s slower and slower form you can work on your form to get faster and therefore it’s better and therefore discs fly further.

    Currently I got a fast run up. I’ll try out a slower one today and focus more on timing(mine is already decent). I’ve thrown my two farthest throws in two ways. One was fast one was slow. I typically throw 30 feet farther with a fast. Thanks for uploading, interesting stuff!

      I thought that too, after watching it back. One thing I did notice was how much larger my strides were and how much room the "faster" one took up. Slow/small steps then explode.

    Have you tried to pick a spot on the ground perpendicular to your throwing line from run up until follow through? Your head is turning all the way back that slows you down. Just look at pros throw and you will see that their face is never turned all the way back :)

    The sprint up throw for the Grace seemed to be released more on an anhyzer line.

    • @discgolfteacher
      @discgolfteacher  Před rokem

      Yes, Anhyzer and high to get the full flight and full potential. But that wasn't really what I was going for. Stick me on a course and that's hitting first available... in order to be consistent, and have some idea of where the disc will go I'd suggest slower. Open field tee shot par 4 with nothing in the way, maybe a bit faster... maybe.

  • @wiltzp1212
    @wiltzp1212 Před rokem +1

    Sorry dude, but this is straight comedy. Slower, faster, farther...whatever. 2 things dictate how far your disc will fly (outside of all the angles and that stuff), first is the release velocity and second is minimal off axis torque. And no, SLOW release velocity DOES NOT equal far! Neither does a slow runup or slow whatever else. You must have a nice straight pull and acceleration all through it. People who dont have enough skill (like you) just cant do all of that with a fast tempo...so you have no other choice than to do it slower. Until you gain more skill and can start doing it faster

      @@discgolfteacher The laugh was mediocre. And no, I propably dont throw 100 meters farther than you, but I do know physics and I know it quite well. Also, i've tried all of it, fast is slow, slow is fast, far is near you name it. Like I already said, what matters is the initial velocity of the disc and how straight it gets going. Nothing too mysterious really, pretty much the same thing as with many/most objects that you try to throw. I throw about 130m on flat, no wind and in quite cold temp. But I'm also 40 years old :D

But I sure hope you will grow up and learn to take some constructive criticism here a little better than you do right now :) Everyone wants to make videos about throwing their discs, but unfortunately not everyone has something new, useful or interesting to add on all the info that is already out there. Also, calling yourself "discgolfteacher" on youtube sounds pretty hilarious in itself for starters :D Especially when you clearly dont have a particularly good form to show off to your "students". But hey, all that just my opinion...carry on as you wish
