  • Here are some of the best Outlander deleted scenes to help you get through Droughtlander!
It’s no secret that Outlander episodes are already long and packed with goodness, so we totally get why Ronald D. Moore Outlander and the production team at Outlander Starz couldn’t include everything. Still, there are lots of great Outlander extended scenes that didn't make the cut during editing, but which would’ve added so much value to our understanding of many subsequent scenes.
Like Outlander Jamie and Claire addressing the loss of their child, Faith, in more depth. And Outlander Murtagh getting more scenes like the one you’ll see in our video. It’s easy to forget that good old Murtagh was the one who saved Claire from Black Jack Randall - after she’d travelled through the stones the first time!
Remember when Claire was still Colum MacKenzie’s prisoner at Castle Leoch? Well, there’s an extended scene of Rupert Outlander guarding her that will have you in fits of giggles. What a pair Rupert and Angus Outlander weren’t... We miss their drunken banter and crude humor!
Which Outlander Netflix deleted scene shows more clearly why Dougal MacKenzie wanted to marry Claire off to Jamie so badly? And which scene with Master Raymond Outlander was in Diana Gabaldon books, but didn’t make it to our screens? Oh, and how can we forget how Outlander Fergus (the young one) used to run all kinds of adult errands for his adoptive Dad, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan)? You’ll also see the witty Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) in action, like in one deleted scene where she challenges Jamie’s traditional position as a husband quite a bit.
Welcome to OSSA Movies - a comfy place to explore the hidden world of your favorite movies and TV series. We are here to reveal the most unexpected behind the scenes secrets as well as fill in the gaps about all those hidden details you never notice during your first watching.
Here you will always find simple and clear explanations to the most confusing endings and find out the craziest theories about the upcoming Netflix or HBO tv shows.
If you’re looking for some decent entertainment content - you’re in the right place!

I think that was a missed moment for the show. I only understood after reading the books. Dougal didn’t marry Jamie & Claire out of the kindness of his loving heart. He was very jealous of Jamie and had already tried to kill him before Claire arrived (another missed moment).
Jamie was always the choice to be the next laird. However, if Jamie has a British wife, the people would resent it & never accept him as leader. Thus...Dougal becomes the next chieftain by default.

It was addressed later that marrying Claire threw Jamie out of the running as successor to clan Mackenzie. Jamie went into a lot more detail about his motivations for marrying Claire in the books. He knew Dougal was manipulating him to get rid of him as a rival. Jamie had strong suspicions that Dougal had tried to kill him a few months before the events of book 1. Jamie said at various points that he had many reasons for marrying Claire - protect her from Randall, get laid, have a partner in life, get Dougal off his back about being rival to an inheritance he didn't even want, etc. But all of that wouldn't have mattered if he didn't want her. Dougal wouldn't have been able convince him in that case. The main reason (and the only reason that really mattered) that Jamie married Claire is because he loved her. He just let everyone else think it was because he wanted to play her hero and get laid.

    • @mariannearmstrong9558

Jamie loved her from the beginning. He planned to marry her anyway. So he managed to marry his Claire, and in the process Dougal thought he had one over on Jamie. Jamie manipulated that whole situation masterfully. Got what he wanted and his uncle got a little respect.

All of these deleted scenes should have been kept in. They could have re-inserted them into the episodes on the DVDs/Blurays and let us have a fuller experience. Yeah, they included them on the disks, but to have had them in the actual episodes would have added more substance. That scene with Murtagh pledging himself to Claire should they not find Jamie alive, and the scene with Jamie telling about the scourging and Wentworth and Faith was so gutwrenching.

Definitely when Jamie returned from the Bastille in the episode, “Faith”. Fans never were able to see how Faith’s death affected him. It was an extraordinary scene, and Sam was incredible. If you watch the scene when he returns from the Bastille, you can see all the editing cuts, and it is clear that the scene has been cut in several places.

I have to think that cutting scenes is done by a male on this show, and he just doesn't understand the impact that the female audience would feel over this omission. It should never have been cut. I would think that the viewing audience is 90 percent women, ask any woman if she felt that was handled efficiently and they would say NO. Nope that whole scene should have been included in the series.

I was just a teenager (now in my mid 40’s!) when I began reading them so I’ve waited a long time for the show. I was nervous that I wasn’t going to enjoy it because we all know books are better than the screen adaptation. Truthfully, you gave life to James Fraser and that was no easy task. It’s a bit different for those who were first introduced to the character on screen but for those of us who started with the book series at the beginning-we already knew Jamie Fraser and we were waiting to see if you could bring him to life. Oh I always felt we needed many more moments of Jamie and Claire, there was far too much battlefield, and far to little of the tender moments. The scene with Jamie grieving for the loss of Faith truly needed to be used in the show.. And I personally found the prison episode totally distasteful, I will never watch it again, EVER. I just fast forwarded through the whole thing. And i am sure I am not alone. I personally loved the show best back in the very beginning, and would have enjoyed a lot more of that time and place. I didn't enjoy her time back with Frank because I didn't like Frank. After Jamie came into the picture for me it was Frank who? Since the show didn't really follow the books that closely I wish they could have just kept her with Jamie and not sent her back. I think most fans felt that it was just plain cruel to separate them and not let him share in the birth of his child. And then he wasn't there when they lost Faith either. Not cool. Way too much time was spent on the beatings also, I am not into torture, to hear about it was enough for me, I sure didn't need to see it. To sum it up, All of the clips that were not used to me were better than some that were used. WE always wondered why Dougal wanted Jamie to marry Claire, to cut it from the show was not wise....
