  • You're not going to believe what we found with this VW Eos!
Our customer's daughter was driving this unsafe vehicle and didn't even know it!
This customer came to us from over an hour away because he was getting the run around from his insurance company! After picking his vehicle up from an insurance referral shop he noticed that his top would not fully retract.
He took it back to the shop that the insurance company referred him to because the repair was "guaranteed". The shop told him that it had nothing to do with the accident.
He then went to a dealer who told him the frame of his top was damaged and it need to be replaced. During this time he was arguing with his ins. co. to try to get them to cover the additional damage and they said it was not related to the loss!
After doing some research he found us, we found that his daughter was driving an unsafe vehicle, we found all of the un-repaired and unresolved issues, got the insurance company back out to look at everything and they ended up totaling the car!
Don't be fooled into thinking that the shop your insurance company is referring you to is looking out for your best interest and that they are going to give the best repair!!

Its such a pity that an unsafe repair outweighs the value of human life. Thank you for posting this video and your great advice.

New cars have gotten to the point that they’re unrepairable once they get into an accident. “Throwaway cars”

Even shops with good reviews won't guarantee a good job! Someone collided into my BMW convertible! I had prove and I won 100%. I got $8000 to replaced the hood and one right panel including the busted wheel which also messed up the steering. I picked a shop that was not the insurance chosen one which was actually a big mistake! The shop kept delaying the fix... took almost 6 weeks. When I finally pick up the car, there was a big gap when the hood closes, they had to bang it back. Then I found out the headlight was aiming to the sky! Then I found out they forgot to connect the hose of the headlight washer so when I pressed to clean the headlight the liquid went under the car leaving a puddle. Then I drove the car, the steering wheel was center but the car literally drove sideway!! The only thing that was ok was the paint job of the new hood! Those people acted like I was asking too much as they claimed no one could do a perfect job after that type of hit! Bullshit! If they could not fix it say so at the beginning but don't take the money and do a shitty job. Also it was not a big hit at all, the airbag didn't even deploy! Since I was in the right regarding the accident I should've allowed the other party insurance company to pick the shop so I can demand a reasonable job if not same as how the car was before the accident. With this shop I picked myself I can't demand the other party insurance anymore! So folks yes if the accident was not your fault, take it to the shop the other party insurance sent and make sure they fix it good or you won't take it!

I couldn't agree with you more. I hope it all worked out well for you. Unfortunately what you went through is quite common. Did you file for a Diminished Value Claim? You can also file for a Repair related Diminished Value. Most consumers do not understand auto collision neither what's on an estimate, but yet they write reviews and others rely on their uneducated judgement. It doesn't hurt to consult with an expert... Good luck!

I remember my boss owned a taxi business and a driver crash it against a light pole with a concrete base. The insurance company sent it to a repair shop and they
did a half ass job. It kinda looks like this car. Sloppy finish and the frame was bent . It drove sideways and the tires were bald in 3 weeks. The insurance company argued its was fixed according to the market price and standards. The car was so bad, the boss wrote it off himself because it created so much complaint from customers, drivers and the mechanic refused to fix anything and sign off on it. Not only that ,"when its time to go for a commercial inspection, it will fail and the insurance company who fixed it will cover their ass and walk away, leaving the boss holding the bag. This is why the insurance company will just write them off even the damage is not severe. They have to learn their lesson the hard way. But its the consumer who gets fucked in the long run.

The wheel getting pushed back did not move the a pillar and damage the top. MAYBE if that wheel was destroyed, just that one picture shows otherwise.

If I’m paying premiums the Insurance Company wants me to pay, then I should choose an auto shop I know is best.
Not some Pay n’ Spray shop that’s cheaper for them to pay out to.👎🏻

If you understand automotive concepts and work on cars, you will know that LKQ and aftermarket parts can be okay, but you must be careful dirt in the paint and frames not being measured are red flags. Always ask for frame measurements after high-speed impact. The frame rails and pillars can look okay, but that does not mean they are. A few millimeters here and there can make a care dangerous.

TO SAVE $$$$$ thats why ... Think like an insurance company, would you rather spend $20k to PROPERLY fix it or $5k to fix it and have it "drive-able"
It does not matter what YOU think, you pay the insurance company for THIS reason and that is to FIX your car when it wrecks. The insurance company does NOT care about your car, they care about saving as much $$ as possible.

Yes and no, if it was not your fault in an accident, and so you won the claim, the other party insurance would have to pay the amount to properly fix your car! It would be their client whom they should raise the premium to in order to cover the cost of running the business. If the price to fix your car exceeds the value of your car then they should just give you the money or something. Don't fix a car that come out worst than before the accident and then called it market price and standard job.

@@lickalotlickalot2210 wrong, they fix it to be compliant with state standards. They WILL NOT go the extra mile and WILL NOT pay out more because YOU said so. They will do the repairs to pass state safety & certifications and thats it.
Just because you won does not give you the legal right to force the insurance company to go beyond state certification ...

The problem is the insurance these days has control in how the car is gonna be repair what kind of parts they gonna use to fix the cars and how much the shop is gonna get pay.
So the insurance expect perfection but the pay a miserable labor time plus garbage aftermarket parts.
In the top of that they rushing the delivery date by putting pressure on the body shop
    Who's fault is this ?

Unfortunately many shops allow that to happen. The shops job is to fix the vehicle the way the manufacturer intended. The insurance company’s job is to reimburse their customer for the loss.
We work for our customer not the insurance company. The insurance company doesn’t decide how we repair a vehicle.

sometimes customer gets $8K from insurance - stays quiet and tells a shop he's only got $4K and no insurance - shop fixes what they can and want and when things go south at the end of the repair the shop is to blame? He then goes to next shop where its discovered all the damage was not fixed. lol

That's why repair shops talk to the insurance directly and worked out a deal and the transaction go directly from the insurance to them! You are supposed to get an itemized list of what would be included in the repair! But the shop could and often do screwed up, pretty much like the situation here!
