Having a drink and getting drunk are two different concepts
It says drunkards go to hell, I think that's a strong enough warning to take caution extreme caution. There is many Bible verses about alcohol, says your not wise if you drink. Be sober minded the word says.

Go back and read your Bible in context, it’s talking about the stupidity and other bad qualitys that come along with being drunk. If you can stay “sober minded” while having a drink then there are no issues. For example no matter how many drinks I have I will never cheat on my wife. No matter how many drinks I have I will never deny Christ as my savior. Be steadfast in the lord, the devil will take any foothold in your actions and thought process, just like how no matter how many drinks you have you definitely know the earth isn’t flat but if someone comes up and persuades enough information to make you think differently then you lost your foothold. I really hope this makes sense to you. I understand there are many passages in the Bible that speak about abuse of things but when you read it in context it talks about abusing anything on this earth like overeating and taking advantage/ abusing other peoples kindness
I think of it like this. Timothy was told to take a little wine for his stomach. Apparently a medical or poor water issue. Paul didn't tell him to go out drinking with his buddies.

There are so many Christians who want to show how "free" they are with their wine. In the old testament the priest was not supposed to drink alcohol, in the new covenant we have become priests before God. What Paul says is; do not drink wine for it makes you drunk, but be filled with the Spirit.

My ex did not care and drank often in front of me ultimately I drank and ruined us one Sunday morning when we were supposed to be at church. I'm sure she has another man and is still drinking. I'll bet my life on it

Christian, it doesn't matter how you justify drinking alcohol in this present world, it will totally destroy your testimony for Christ. No sinner will listen to you, because like you, they are aware of all the pain, suffering and death that alcohol is causing in the world: Child abuse, spousal abuse, vehicle wrecks, job lost, various sicknesses and deaths. And it is just wise to leave that poison on the shelves today in the store.

It is a stumbling block and most can’t stop themselves from getting drunk at some point in their life if they start drinking. Hard times will come and if you don’t drink then you are much less likely to screw your life up more !!!

I am with a Jehovah witness who supports drinking and would drink at any chance.

There is nothing wrong with smoking or drinking, it’s the stupidity and other bad qualities that follow along with it. Having a drink or smoke isn’t wrong, no matter how much weed I smoke I’ll never cheat on my wife.

'Be not drunk with wine' DOES NOT PROHIBIT drinking of wine: drunkenness is the result of EXCESS/OVER CONSUMPTION of wine. It IS POSSIBLE to drink wine WITHOUT getting drunk. Paul instructed Timothy to 'don't drink (just) water, but drink a little wine for your stomach issues': apparently, the quality of the water was poor where Timothy lived, and it caused him some physical trouble. Let us use GODLY wisdom, and NOT religious bias and prejudices.
