- Matches like this happen once or twice a year at best! An incredibly tense, low-scoring thriller which had more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing! Will say no more, just sit back and enjoy...

Started to watch the channel during the first lock down. Decided to start some videoing myself and was inspired by your site. Something to watch when there was no local cricket. I felt connected as it give me a link to village cricket when was happening. Well done to the club Brilliant!
Thanks for your comment - it is very much appreciated when receiving such positive feedback. In case you are interested, there is an online course and community for fellow cricket filmers. Here’s a link: bit.ly/CricketChannelCourse
Best of luck!

I'll look and Thanks
Now received the newsletter. Thanks Wanborough Cricket Club
'You're on the bus' 😂😂😂😂
Josh is a seriously good signing - would’ve loved to see what kind of partnership me and him could’ve formed. I can already see him and George bullying the division next year. Looking forward to playing you guys 👀
Me too mate. Hope all going well.... pop in for a beer if you can anytime, my round!
Sanderstead CC TV I’m down at Old Whits next weekend so I’ll swing by after my game
Excellent - I’ll be filming a home game, see you after you’ve made a pretty 30 at Whits 😂
Sanderstead CC TV I’m lucky if it’s 15 nowadays 😂 see you then!
"Anything you can afford to get me, really", "Brilliant, you're on the bus" is such a great vignette! And the football commentary was spot on, too - why do people watch that? A terrific video.
Thanks! Really enjoyed getting a close match on film (at last!)
Ad a footy referee who plays cricket i spotted a few things that the ref had got wrong..
The keeper should be wearing a totally different colour top to the ref and his teammates.
Also the bowler at the end of your innings looks like a chucker.
@@andrewharries122 Football is for people too thick to understand cricket. Let's face it, people who play cricket have a higher IQ than footballers. It's an elephant in the room. People dont want to talk about it. But it's true.
Thanks for the elaborate shoutout Dan! (Henry Douthwaite here and well done for pronouncing the name) Highly recommend the service from Black Knight Bats. The bat gets its first outing next week. Fingers crossed we end up in some sort of match-up soon!
Hello Thom!! Good luck with it! It would be great to get a bunch of thespians down to Sanderstead next season - we used to regularly play such a side about 20-30 years ago. Cheers 🍻
Ah Dan, a "Jellicopter" & a liberal sprinkling of "and why not" what a lovely start to a Sunday morning... you love to hear it!
John Eades cheers! Too much Pilgrim to get it uploaded last night..... etc etc
@@SandersteadCCTV What can I say Dan, other than... "and why not"
Absolutely top notch bowling from the chap with the bleached hair, right when it was needed. Wonderful camerawork on the run out, not so much with Simon's catch off the no ball! Fantastic match with an intense finish. Thanks as always for all the hard work, Dan
I was really annoyed about missing Simon’s one-handed catch! Imagine how pleased I was when it was called a no-ball 😂
@@SandersteadCCTV The run out more than made up for it, even including a slow motion replay for us mere mortals! Great stuff
Ever considered becoming a football commentator by any chance😂
Too easy....
Josh Stacey has been a fantastic addition to the team. So consistent, just continually builds pressure and turns the screw. Absolutely crucial spell.
Chris Burrows definitely.
Great vid, i do reckon the left arm opening bowler for sanderstead, needs to use his front arm more,.
I agree.
I was going to ask Dan if there was a reason why he doesn't use it... but, bowlers and their idiosyncrasies...*shrug*
All I know is he’s a damn good “death” bowler
What has happened to Tricki and Shareef , on to pastures new ? Well done in this match , great to watch .
Tremendous mate! Good to see some intelligent field placing and tight bowling, could have done with some of that last year... Cheers for the content, still loving every video from Australia!
Benjamin Christmas thanks Ben - glad to have you with us. Cheers 🍻
I'm so glad im able to watch these videos.
Here in melbourne Australia were still in some really tight covid restricrions which means no grass roots sports at all.
These videos make me feel apart of the sandersted cricket club haha !!
tom carlyle excellent - we’re with you in spirit! 🍻
What an exciting game of cricket
Congratulations to Sanderstead on a great win👌👌
What a game of cricket? Loved every second of it. Brilliant commentary, nail biting ending, what more do you need? And why not !
Thanks - really enjoyed this one, always helps when it’s close of course!
18:08 nice delivery for Longcock!
That was amazing! well done lads!!!
Tyuuuu
Amazing match with everything going on. Well done guys.
There is something relatable about these videos. Like I can almost smell the grass. Nice to watch what our game is all about.
Thank you for your kind words - it means a lot! My aim has always been to capture the essence of grass roots cricket in these videos - you’ve described it perfectly. I would possibly add “and taste the beer”. Thanks for finding us - can’t wait for the new season...
Hi Dan.
What great match.
So exciting to watch. That one spin over turned the whole game upside down.
Who need to watch the test match hi lights with a game like this !
Keep up your amazing match reports looking forward to Sunday’s match.

Thanks! Love an e-type. Sunday’s match will be our tomorrow. It is the polar opposite of this one 😂
Will still be looking forward to it 👍🏻
What a great game off cricket ! Sanderstead looked the losing side for so long ! Well played Sanderstead for not giving up . In my experience this only happens when the team plays for each other as they enjoy the company off the players in there team ! And winning beers taste the best .
Totally right - best team spirit for a couple of seasons, and the performances will follow
What a game!! Fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic win by the boys! It's great too see the team gelling!
Thanks Luke - glad that the “gelling” is obvious. This is a decent team in the making and next year should be great....
Love the videos you post. Brings me back to my club cricket days. (Saffa in Newcastle)
Thanks - Glad you’ve found us and that you like what we do. Cheers!
Finally a win...if T could get his 2020 average above his age it would be great🙄🙄Good choice of car for Tyler..small and stylish and bug*er all use in tricky conditions🏎🤗
Plus, there is one top order batsman who is struggling but seems to get selected each week...but a win is a win. Two players standing up to be counted each week, Josh and Jonny🏏👍 No idea how I have got so ´excited/involved in a team I never knew😘
Me neither, Mike, but delighted you have! Hope to see you for Pilgrims in 2021....
Lovely stuff Lads
29:30 'He's just bowling darts now', in context such a lovely analogy
Great game - interesting to see how many spinners there seem to be playing today - compared to when I played some years ago.
It is - though the spinners usually come out in the second half of the season when the strips are drier.
Fantastic match!!
Excellent Sanderstead just kept going and never gave up
Very enjoyable match, really beautiful setting.
It’s a nice ground - especially for a public park. Lovely backdrop
Cracking game.
Wow...that was a wide at 4:43..? Easily playable from the batsman’s stance...I would’ve thought 💭 it almost pitched on his foot and just missed his pad!
Angus Robins the umpires were strict but fair and consistent - I think the camera angle makes it look straighter than it was. Cheers 🍻
Sanderstead CC TV aye, up here they’re not overly strict on leg-side wides in league matches, but don’t allow anything wide of the pads in the cup (Sunday) matches, keeps the game from slowing I guess.
Master Park!! I know that place, although I've never been. It's one of the grounds in the VR batting sim Cricket Club and it just looks like the real thing. Great stuff.
Glad to hear of another VR cricket fan! Was pretty cool to get the club into a game!
@@leemcilwraith2173 I played club cricket for 27 years until forced into retirement 4 years ago through injury (bowler, bad knees). I was played Master Park in the latest update and I had to do a double take. I've never played at that ground but it was so indicative of many of the grounds I've played at, no sightscreens, football pitch behind the bowlers arm, car park behind the other bowler, small clubhouse etc..., it really felt like I was back at the crease (usually batting number 9), that's how good that game is. A great experience and a wonderful depiction of Master Park, a lovely ground by the looks of it.
I took the photos earlier in the season, normally the sight screens are in place, and we have a picket fence in front of the club but we hadn't arranged it back then. Such a lovely little ground in the heart of the community. I have been lucky enough to play there for 15 years now. Used to be a county 2nd ground. Has degraded slightly in the past few years but normally still a complete road - the weather made the deck slightly unpredictable on Saturday. You never know, depending on how much the game and VR kicks off, I may get to host a physical game there at some point for Cricket Club players!
@@leemcilwraith2173 That would be awesome, I would come out of retirement for that one, :) Is it just photos you took or did you have to do some panoramic drone footage as well? I am sure the game will take off when word gets round. I don't think anyone at my old club have heard about it, apart from some of the videos I post.
@@peteworrall9203 just some panoramic photos on my phone. I do also have a drone and Sanderstead have previously shared a video with those shots (was the same time as our beer festival a few years ago). I have been banging on about the game to the club. Can't wait to get back to some form of normality so I can rock up with my PC and oculus and let them have a go!
Great video 👍
Just think, if Johnny hadn't discovered the delights of pies and cakes at an early age, he could have had a promising international career.
Plus we could have been treated to this commentators gem!
"In the meantime...let's head back to Lord's, where the Batsman's Holding, the bowlers Longcock.." ;)
That would be good! I’ll be looking out for opposition names in future that might work with Longcock 😂
Love it
That's a fantastic result.
"Im not really a car person, so anything you can afford to get me"
"Brilliant, - youre on the bus"
xD
😂 and said to my own daughter! I should be ashamed…..
@@SandersteadCCTV Im isolating at the moment with Covid, so i needed a laugh. That made me giggle incessantly! :D
The opposition wicket keeper looked very good behind the stumps
Real quality - very tidy. Can bat a bit too.
The standard of the football at around 4:20
HAHA !!!
Can’t remember a better finish to one of ur games always sweet when you win those tight finishes too
Did I hear right Simon Jackson there lefty has gone to Middlesex
Middlesex Prem - I think he’s gone to Ealing.
"Spoiler alert" would have been nice.......
Arthur Pewtey 😂 you have to get up earlier!
You may be right. But a more simple (not to mention socially acceptable with the government at home here) solution will be to not look at any comments until the video's finished.
Only saw the post today about Lucy being your daughter. I was wondering how you'd got a response from her within minutes (to a post I made a few weeks ago) - now I get it.
Finally, I shall join the growing ranks of people overseas (many, like me, no doubt, from countries where cricket is barely played, at any level) who thank you for putting out these great videos - I suspect you have a fair idea of how popular this site is becoming?
Great video as always Dan and cheers for the shout-out
Hope the bat goes well pal
Sanderstead CC TV oh it will
Hi I enjoy your videos, brilliant commentary:)
What camera do you use :) and any editing apps?
Now that was a finely balanced thriller of a finish...everything was there...what a mountainous beast of a pitch though (Johnny needed airbrakes)...
Great death bowling at the end when the win was looking unlikely. Kudos to the left armer who didn’t look like he went for many!? Great team effort and never say die attitude.
Wow great finish boys
Top match that, missed out on a few chances to get the 'teaser' catch phrase in though Dan...
EDMc Cricket I know, it was a bit tense! Must do better!
@@SandersteadCCTV it's all good, just keep up the great content. We're still practically in lockdown with no sport in the Philippines so this is my only regular weekly cricket fix at the moment
The scene at 17:40 is wonderful.
Their leggy looks pretty handy!
thoroughly enjoyable football commentary at 13:57
Thanks, and I thought it was rather accurate. Maybe I should look for a winter gig when the season ends?
A lovely close finish again. Tom Coulson much better with an older ball, Josh Stacey very tough to score off, Jerry squished into Tyler's rollerskate. So much to love. I have played at Oxted but remember nothing about it so the jumpy wicket must have been down to damp. Heavy roller!!!!
Perfect summing up! Thanks and glad you enjoyed it
My favourite car? My 1992 SEAT Marbella - last car I bought brand new - mostly poor but such memories - wouldn't be where I am now without the wee 903cc beastie.
Always good to have an emotional connection to any choice.
04:28 Triumph Herald 13/60 convertible circa 1970.... it had a wooden dashboard and a reserve switch on the petrol tank. 13 = 1,300cc, 60 = 60 hp. We looked down on those in their 'pedestrian' 12/50s. There as a variant call the 'Vitesse' which was a Herald in every sense of the word (brakes, handling etc etc) but with a 2 litre engine, I understand that few survived the early 70s, nor did their drivers come to that, there were problems with corners or 'dampish' roads in general.
Lovely bit of nostalgia Andy, thank you! I remember a mate if my dad had a Triumph Stag in the mid-70s - that was a thing of beauty and THE pulling car....
@@SandersteadCCTV 'Pulling car?' Never used a Stag to pull a muck spreader or even sheep trailer. Just what did you city folk use it for?
Happy birthday T!
Perfect start to a Sunday - great video. Where have Tricki and Sam gone?
Walton on Thames and Bournemouth respectively
Amazing win. Happy birthday T
Thank you 😀
Man...wot a match👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Was that T's car alarm going off in the background at around 10:25 to 28? Somebody looked askance at his wheels...
Not sure
Well done lads, great game to watch!.... not sure if Jonny was getting sledged. But someone have a quiet word with him about the send-offs. Defo no need for them. It's only club cricket
It was a bit of banter between the lads - all good fun about the football match in the background and trying to copy some goal celebrations (all lost on me, of course)
@@SandersteadCCTV ahh that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying 👍🏻. Thought it was very out the blue from Sanderstead that sort of stuff. Glad to hear it was a bit of banter
I worry Jonny has become too Jellycopter obsessed. Very easy to become a caricature of your own batting.
Dan allen you forgot to mention my "coffee" shout for Tyler's Bday. LoL Great game mate.
Apologies - it will happen today! He did say thanks by the way.....
@@SandersteadCCTV wonderful!! Its more to give a shout out to my cricket club as well. Woden Wanderers C.C, Canberra , Aust. Looking forward to next weekends film! A "coffee" is on its way for you too Dan. Enjoy!
Clayton Bryan thanks! Did the shout out during yesterday’s Sunday match (a horror show!) - should be ready later today.....
@@SandersteadCCTV i wait eagerly. Sounds like a Royal thumping is on its way. My saying is "Theres always next week".
And keep it to yourself, but I think I’m playing my annual game next Sunday!
Your local football club don't know what they're missing!! 🤣🤣
Duncan Patience I’m sure they’ll get in touch....😂
Love it how he makes fun off football. Bloke throws red ball at other bloke. Other bloke hits ball with a wooden plank to another bloke. Other bloke throws it at bloke who has big gloves on.
Peter Palmer 😂 and instantly the differences are apparent....🍻
Wait, isn’t that basically what they do?😅
Fabulous umpiring 👍
They were excellent - and had a bit of fun with the lads too, huge respect for them
'He swings it both ways. And the ball.'
Lol
08:00 'Gone to Middlesex'. But what are the teas like?
04:44 Class shot
I don't how feasible it is but, you need to check out an app called cricheroes. It is basically an scoring app, but you could get more insight. I've never tried but there is an option of overlapping score at the bottom of video while you live stream or record. That could be helpful.
What camera do you use for this? Thinking of doing something similar for my club
Canon - links below each video to Amazon shop with all the gear we use
Fabulous as always Dan! Please have a word with Longcock about that wave send off he gave the batsman when he got his wickets smh
I did - it was an in joke to do with the fact that there was football going on and the lads decided to do a football style goal celebration when a wicket fell. Don’t know which footballer Jonny was mimicking but there is someone who does that apparently. There were other example too but not sure if they made the edit....
Tommy Robinson 😂 chill
@@tommyrobinson5024 completely agree, it looks piss poor no matter what the supposed context is
Where's Tricky this year? I miss all those long hops!:-)
Don't know where Josh came from but he is one seriously good signing. This team would have won promotion back to Div 2. JLO, most improved player this year. T, more runs needed out of you matey!
Mark Stratton this is a rebuilding team and having a short season with no ups and downs has been useful to see the lads gel. Next season should be really good....
@@SandersteadCCTV I have been impressed with the change of attitude, even in defeat Sanderstead have been competitive this year,Epsom and Dorking both had to earn their wins, last year they rolled over and died a few times.
We had a high scoring thriller yesterday! We bowled first and they scored 260 off 40 overs. Their opener hit 81 and their number six scored 64 off 19 balls 😂😱. We thought we had no chance as we rarely score over 200 however all our top 3 scored 50+ and we won with a single off the last ball! Probably a bit lower quality than this game though 😂😂
Oliver Shouksmith When?
BTEP yesterday (Saturday 23rd)
Oliver Shouksmith No when did I ask (sorry it sounds like an interesting game but u walked straight into the trap mate)
BTEP I don’t know what trap I walked into you just said when which most people would interpret as meaning when not when did you ask. Also no one is making you read the comment (just saying) if you don’t care don’t read it 🤷♂️
Oliver Shouksmith Im just joking relax it’s not that deep
Anyone ever seen Josh & Simon Harmer in the same room...? 👀 Just saying 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Is there a Sunday Treat ready for uploading yet, Dan?
Bad luck for Jimmy Anderson...4 dropped catches in 40 minutes! Shocking, lol!
Maybe Matty Harris could be loaned out to give some advice on catching techniques!?
For a small fee of course, maybe a barrel of Pilgrim's?
Greg AVFC 69/70 Jones there certainly is - the most rubbish Sunday village XI ever to use the name Sanderstead! Watch it and weep...... comedy gold 😂
surely a pink slip for the batsman given LB for the hat-trick
Commentator should work for the BBC. " Swings it both way's.......-And the Ball " .....ha' ha'. Brilliant.
😂 thanks - though I don’t think they’d want me!
Nasty pitch, that - a few really jumped off a length.
Chris Bell it calmed down as the game went on - damp start
Josh bowling beautifully!
He is - I spoke to him yesterday and he says he only started bowling last season! Clearly a natural. I have the benefit of my experience as an offie - he’ll be chucking pies before the seasons over 😂
That track looks deadly off a length.
Yes, it was a bit damp and “up and down” at the start, but it got much better. It’s usually very good
@@SandersteadCCTV yeah we played on one like it last week. Had 2 pop and 1 went straight under the bat 😂
I remember wickets like that. Absolute nightmare bearing in mind we had no helmets
09:36 What is the Cateram doing above the umpire's head? Just asking....
22:20 'I think we know Joe Murphy is pretty good at playing the short ball'. A remark dripping in RB type observation - not sarcastic or ironic, just perhaps a little gently caustic.
What a corker!! Dan. show us a photo of Lucy on the bus :-)
well done lads aussie dwcc
Which cricket club do you guys support?
Pete Dude Surrey and Sanderstead
Is Jonny giving send off’s now?
Just a bit of fun between the teams - banter about goal celebrations in football apparently!
Cricket and Supercars - genuinely my 2 favourite things in the world.
Interested to know why Tyler chose the F12 over the new 812. I’d personally agree with his decision, but I’m interested to know why.
Best wishes to you all from Adelaide in Australia
I'll ask him - it may be that is all Jerry (his dad) could get him for the weekend.
I’m talking about his pick for the Ferrari f12 as his favourite car, not the amazing little caterham he’s driving.
Let me tell you, if Jerry can get Tyler a Ferrari f12 for the weekend, there’s a 26 year old bloke in Australia who is willing to be adopted 😂
@@dennym6270 😂😂😂 as you can tell, I’m not a car person! And you do not want to be adopted by Jerry for financial reasons! He’s lovely, though 😂
That’s okay, you’re into cricket and you don’t like football so we can get on well on those fronts!
Wishing you all well over in England and really hoping you have better news. Looking forward to better times, next time I come to England I’ll be dropping in to watch a Sanderstead game for certain
@@dennym6270 keep me posted!

I think it was “village” football.....
@@SandersteadCCTV yes I was upset when you changed positions ha ha......not....
05:40 The solution has to be a Triumph Herald 13/60. Lucy, do not settle for a 12/50.
im sorry but tyler doesn't bat anywhere near long enough to keep putting his gloves off and on all the time :)
Great game of cricket well done lads enjoy the beers I hope
èlusive ëmu we did - a bit too much that’s why the upload was late 😂
14:20 John Mottram and Kenneth Wolstenholme 'eat your hearts out'. Dan exhibits his skills and perception to go way beyond club and village cricket. 'Bloke kicks the ball' will now always rank along side 'they think it is all over,.... it is now'. The only question remaining has to be would RB even have deigned to acknowledge that there was soccer being played in August, or at all for that matter?
Most enjoyable game with a hat trick to boot and a dog taking it's owner for a walk. Enjoy the prilgrim.
We did - a bit too much on Saturday!
I have to say. I am a Jhonny Longcock fan!
The pitch is with concrete or clay?
Neither - it is grass on soil
Who would’ve imagine jacko bowling an game Changing over
Is Jacko carrying an injury? Missed him bowling absolute heat ☹️
Yes - side strain. He’ll no doubt be back on full gas in 2021
Opening Oxted bowler looks like the great Tim Murtagh
Interesting comment because their opening bat is the great Joe Murtagh! Coincidence?
