- Big thanks to Sherpa Equipment Company for sending me their Princeton roof rack for the 4runner! Now that I have a son, I'm feeling the importance of getting outside and exploring. Outfitting the 4runner for camping and adventure is going to be a lot of fun!

The Sherpa Princeton is an all-aluminum, powdercoated roof rack that can hold up to 300 lbs while driving. These are made in USA and have a lifetime warranty. Despite having a low enough profile to avoid wind noise, they also maintain use of the sunroof. No drilling or silicone is required thanks to their design that utilizes the factory mounting points.

Hello, I would like you to help me with my 4Runner 2007 V6, I don't know how to remove the "VSC OFF" "Trac OFF" from my dashboard. Can you help me solve it, please 🙏 GREETINGS FROM THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 🇩🇴

Hey, did you by any chance keep the cross bars from the old 4r roof rack?
You can also ask Sherpa For Custom Designs on the Rack To Fit Your Build and Design @Canadian Gearhead
Just did my 04’
Hex bolts and red lok tite was used.
Nissan uses standard head bolts with lock tight on them. Toyota more than likely uses the same thing.
Love this video. Good work! Glad you're loving the rack.
Can't wait to mount stuff to it!
I need to get one of these for my 4th gen. Love the functional aggressive look that it gives off. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching!
Side lights and rear lights is helpful with the sherpa racks easy installs @Canadian Gearhead
Just bought an 07, binging all your videos. Great stuff man helped me a lot
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Love to see it!
FYI, I also had red loctite on my OEM rack
In between this and the Prinsu rack
i have a 07 v8 with the sherpa, i have a couple of 4g Rotopax and soft shell RRT, i want to change it up to a wedge type for ease of set up and get a Sherpa side window panel for the Rotopax. your 4R looks great.
Thanks for watching Darrell!
Have you thought about how you are going to deal with clearing snow off roof? I have a 2020 TRD pro with that almost useless rack...been looking at options. Being here in New Hampshire I have a bit of snow to deal with.
Blow it off with a leaf blower!
Shhhhhhhadowmica. The best 4runner color ever made.
I can't argue that!
I wish Sherpa Would Send Me a Roof rack I got 6 4runners To Buy Roof racks For 😂😂 pretty awesome Brother @Canadian Gearhead
hi how did you install the OBD on your phone to clear error codes?? new here im really interested to know thanks
I use the FIXD sensor
So you didn’t use any silicone under the rubber mounts? Any leaks or issues after a year?
No silicone and it's been perfect
Man I love my v8 so much but I just can't get past the lack of headroom, I'm considering things like removing the sunroof, or replacing the seats (airbag/safety concerns with the later). Sitting straight my head is about half an inch too high at the sunroof cover. If you have any tips on this one I'd love to hear 'em, can't find too much online. I may switch to a 5th gen because of this.
How tall are you? I'm 6'3 and found that finding the best angle for the seat really helped
@@CanadianGearhead Only 6'1 but have a huge torso and neck. I've tried leaning it back about as far as I can logically go and it doesn't really help and makes my driving position awful. I'm debating digging out the seat cushion but I don't want to kill the resale value.
Hi! Is your garage height the standard 7 ft? I have a lifted GX that needs a roof rack but I'm worried it won't fit in my garage that's 7FT high...
Yes I believe it's standard
@@CanadianGearhead Thanks man! It's time get that rack!
I have GX460 with victory roof rack and had to cancel my lift order cuz doesn’t fit to 7’25” garage
I'm based in Canada too. Did you have to pay for customs/duty when you bought it from Sherpa?
Yeah, they can't be avoided unfortunately
You have the cleanest 4th gen! What is the size of your tires and wheels?
Thanks! They're 285/70/17
If you are ditching the factory rack, I could really use the plastic end caps. All of mine are cracked or missing 😃
These ones are kinda cracked too unfortunately
I like this rack it's just like Prinsu racks witch I have on my Tacoma, But, One US dollar to Canadian is $1.36 This rack sells for $1400.00 US that equals $1904.00 CAD plus shipping, INSANE! Prinsu sells for $1080.00 US, which is $1470 CAD plus shipping still expensive.
Yeah, it's a lot of money. I looked into the Prinsu rack first but it seems like the Sherpa is better overall
I installed a knock off of that style right on top of the factory cross bars and it barely clears my garage door. I ordered a model that included an extension to make it longer. The main reason I went with this knock off is that it is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY cheaper. And by mounting it on the top of the factory cross bars, it is a lot easier to clean and wax the roof. Yes, it doesn't look as cool but is very functional. I have two camping trips with it and all of my recovery gear and two gas tanks fit on it.
Where did you get it ?
@@gomezmikeg Amazon.
@@2-old-Forthischet you have a link or product name ?
@@gomezmikeg it's been a couple of years now so sorry, but no. It doesn't even have a name on it. Happy hunting.
@@2-old-Forthischet thank you for replying
Which tent do you plan on using?
Not sure yet, we kind of missed out on camping season this year so back to the drawing board for next season
@@CanadianGearhead Thank you for the response. We have been using the Tuff Stuff Ranger 3 on my ‘07 4R V-8, and it has served us well on a multitude of adventures but I am looking to switch to a low profile clam shell for reduced drag on the highway, faster set up and tear down, with maybe a hardened top. Hail in Colorado this summer was over 1-1/4 inches in diameter, and though we were lucky and suffered no damages, it sure got me to thinking about something more. Good luck to you, and thank you for the great videos!
The 4runners Look So Sexy with These Sherpa Roof Racks love it looks amazing Bro @Canadian Gearhead
What's the difference between the sherpa and prinsu?
I think the biggest difference is probably the way they mount to the roof
@@CanadianGearhead don't they both use factory mounting locations?
@@eggr17ify They do but they attach differently, Sherpa uses these rubber blocks so you don't need any silicone
Maxtrax and tent on the rack. Nothing more. You dont want too much weight up there. Ill send you my 4runner info. Where do i send it? IG?
For now, you can send it to contact@canadiangearhead.com
