and why I'm mostly aiming for 35mph for cruising and to get to work speeds. seen fails due to the frame or engine exploding on them. i agree the frame and wheels are a minimum of safety. I'll say this. if you want speed and safety at the same time, you'll be asking for a deal with the devil.
I think the next bike I'm gonna build will be a worksman beach cruiser, sure it's expensive but I feel like it's gonna be a buy once, cry once ordeal, with the durability of the frame and 11g spoke heavy duty wheels, it seems like an extremely solid setup for a yd100, and big enough to fit just about anything up to a predator 212, but at that point you might as well hang off a cliff with one hand if you're trying to die that bad.
I'm 140lbs and drive 34 miles round trip and I cruise at an average speed of 32mph. Takes me roughly 40-45mins. I am currently running my 2nd motor cause the first one couldn't take it.
On the road where cars are passing you all the time, it's not safe to go 35mph... It's actually safer to go 45mph, that way cars don't have to exceed the speed limit to pass you. Anytime a car has to cross on the wrong side of the road to pass you.... It's not good.
@@Few.Be.There.That.Find.It. while that is true, cars just act dumb around a bike going the speed limit, go a little faster and they don't get aggressive so often. However, it's pretty tough to get to 40mph without getting insane vibrations destroying the bike or give speed wobbles. It can be done, but it is not easy.
The easiest way to go fast on a motorized bike is weight reduction, with me at 120 lbs, my 80/66cc china doll with a 36 tooth sprocket that somehow still runs with the magneto nut snapped and timing literally all over the place, my Cranbrook does almost 40, and goes up some pretty steep hills really nice.
I ride mine to work, maybe 6 miles round trip. It’s a board track replica, and I go between 20-25 max. I started with a real, pre-war Indian frame. It’s built like a tank…..49cc 4 stroke, 40 tooth. Just a cruiser. I have no desire to go fast at my age. Just save the short trips on my cars, which it very hard on them.
There is a solution here. It's called an actual motorcycle. Bikes are a ton of fun but they're more toys than super serious transportation. Maybe try one of the new Honda Trail 125s?
I weigh 140lbs I understand the power to weight ratio is better for people who weigh around this weight... I really don't recommend motorized bicycles for people who weigh 180 or more. It is after all a bicycle and not a motorcycle. If you want to go 40mph+ I recommend you get a motorcycle if you weigh 180 or more.
If you want to go faster you should consider 29" wheels since the rotation of the wheel spins slower going the same speed as a 26" wheel, which in return equals less wear on bearings and less chain speed. You should also consider using cargo bike tires since a moterized bicycle weighs more then a typical bicycle, the tires are rated for the weight.

145 lbs all concrete 4 miles one way. on a rock hopper with a phantoms 85 v3. Or a surron lbsx 72v upgrade. Thinking of go power sports megalodon 212 full upgraded.... What do you think?
Me and my son built a bike thos winter. He still cant understand why i repact all the bearing before we even started putting the kit on. They were dry right from the store. No wonder nothing lasts
I daily commute on these, I see what you mean by reliability. I've been riding for a handful of years, mainly a 32t sprocket, occasionally the 56. Moral to the comment, bike is sturdy but when going around turns you can feel the flex from the frame in the handlebars. Chuck the frame now or ride it till it snaps?
I'd imagine it would help quite a bit depending on the quality and effectiveness of the suspension. Just adding a suspension fork to my rigid beach cruiser made a substantial difference in overall quality - I'm sure adding a rear suspension would make it even better. Too bad most of these bikes don't have large enough frame openings for a motor.
I was asking the same question not too long ago however I was knowing and not expecting it to be reliable More or less just something I can do for fun on Clear days that I've been worried about bogging down to 6 miles an hour going up a hill
Thank you for posting this video I wish I'd have seen it sooner But it does answer my questions on how to build a bike that will do 50 I've top speed and maintain 27 to 30 mile an hour I believe
I'm about to place a zada80 on a Schwinn Meridian trike and the trike is somewhat flimsy feeling. I do feel as though I will need to replace the rear end with something beefier. Any ideas 💡
Tell me right now would it be crazy for me to drive a beach cruiser 29 inch averaging between 12-16 mph about 24 miles in a day with a 50cc engine I only weigh like a buck 50 Maybe 170 with a backpack full of camping gear
But is it really a bicycle at that point??? $500 gemini rims and a 5 or 600 dollar frame??? Your well over 1000 dollars and you have all the components to accommodate a bicycle that goes 70+ miles an hour. This just seems like a motorcycle to me
I don't know about it ruining any of the safety factors but I could see it ruining the reliability I don't think it has nothing to do with safety at all maybe the safety of the internals of the engine
I've almost died on my bike more times than i can count haha, brakes failing at intersections, tyres puncturing, throttle sticking, etc etc haha i think i'll start dialing the speed back a bit and start cruising slowly
what about road bikes i ride those at 50 + mph going down hill sometimes thats without a motor they handle speed a lot better than these cruiser style bikes has anyone tried strapping a motor to a good road bike? i would but i have like 2k into my roadbike and im not messing it up by testing a 150$ motor on it but bet it fly
When I hear people who want something like what the rider described I think go buy a honda.
I've come to terms with my bike., I was all about speed, now I just wanted it to be reliable and safe.
ive reached that point too. Chasing speed is an endless race
I've done 45+ and things got real scary real fast, 35mph is just fine by me 40 would be better just to fight strong headwinds.

Common sense will take u places lol
Ur right that’s why I’m just happy going 10-13mph I just ride in the front street it’s fun makes noise what else would u want lol
Best thing I could tell that guy is to lose some weight It was significantly takes stress off the frame
He would be far off better buying full motorcycle of at least a 250 cc caliber.
100% true. 👍
Any faster than 35 is insane on a bicycle. I rode to work for 3 years on those. Too many issues. Not worth it

Realmz65 on exhaust ported cylinder with smaller rear sprocket.... got it,we have pretty flat roads here in Tucson 😂😂😂
212cc ....done. Lol
Hell yeah, Predator Hemi Death Row kits are the stuff

What size sprocket do you have? Do you have a video that goes over the whole thing? I would like to build one
36 in the rear, stock in the front.
Whats your engine ? Is it the gear ration that you use? Or the engine that pulls that speed?

This is amazing I wanna go fast
lol man I must be pretty lucky because I ride mine 17 miles one way to work every single day

I started feeling this on my bike, didn’t think much of it, 4 months later took it apart and bam, frame was already split where the motor mount was
Aluminum or steel?

Mz65,? You have any for sale?
Do full-suspension bikes handle this better?

Whar about 15-20 miles an hour 20 mile there 20 back on paved bycicle paths?
8 hour gap between trips btw.

This will be a bike for country cruising and stoping at the iga for food. I don't want to go fast but will need the power for hills

You can still do it tho just bring a tool bag j he’s right tho you’ll definitely have to work on it
Im fine at a top of 35 mph... unless i go get an after market engine from a serious builder or i do the mods myself it is not worthwhile
LA, some people just need to learn on their own. I have talked myself blue in the face with some. Some people are Knotheads...
