It hits hard that every reaction to this video I've seen so far starts with fans pointing out how gorgeous Soyeon is and the fact that she wrote this song because people have been calling her "too ugly to be an idol" since she was a trainee. (G)I-dle's message always hit deep because of how earnest and personal they are.
Also in this video each of the girls wants what the others have: Minnie has a boyfriend, but no real friends. Miyeon is popular, but no boyfriend. Yuqi and Shuhua are co-dependent and want fancy clothes that Miyeon has. Soyeon wants to fit the beauty standards. I love them so much.

I love how (G)I-Dle is just continuing to pick up right where they left off with NXDE's criticism of the industry and female beauty standards by making a song that dares to adress the plastic surgery industry with Soyeon's part. She's so brave to be honest about the pressure she faced for being 'too ugly' and 'in need of surgery'. It's so rare, it's refreshing.
I'm always right in your same headspace when you do (G)I-dle reactions. Luckily I've already seen this about 100x, so I was able to focus on your reaction a bit more. Their MV's lately have been so packed with story, sound, and visuals that we get overloaded with information. It's nice though, because the re-watchability is through the roof. I always pick up new things that *wow* me every time I watch and hear this. Even more now that I've seen it through the eyes of a video editor. Thank you.
Rewatching the video again I wish I talked more in depth about the editing and story, but Soyeon's beauty was too distracting and was too much for me ❤😅
The english translation of this isn't as good as it's supposed to be unfortunately. It has intricacies that is not translated in english. Miyeon and Soyeon has the "yeon" in their name which in hanja means beautiful. Soyeon saying "damn my name" hits different because she is cursing her name because it doesn't fit her because she thinks she isnt pretty. Miyeon then continues to sing her line about why she isn't pretty and why she isn't sexy. Both of them thinking they are not fitting of their names. It's such a smart wordplay.

(G)I-dle are possibly the only group whose MVs I regularly watch just because of how much I can unpack each time I watch them! Allergy is only a b-side as well, so I cannot wait to hear what the rest of the mini-album is going to sound like if the b-side is this good.
I always rewatch their videos too and every time you find something new which is what I love about them. Easily the best concepts ever :)

Soyeon was constantly told that she was too ugly to become an idol, and she was ridiculed online in her debut days. once she said on unpretty rapstar: “It’s not like being ugly is something I can deny” “I was ugly, I am ugly, I know it already.” Allergy and queencard were kind of a cautionary tale about what happened to her and what still happens in the industry! It’s so heart breaking 💔
