Jeez ppl the video was highlighting our strong economy be happy for us nah. I NEVER saw a Jamaican or Bagan or any other Caribbean island citizen bring down their country like Trinidadian does. Crime is EVERYWHERE and if Trinidad was as bad as u guys make it out to be then ppl wouldn't even be able to walk the streets or jump up in a carnival fete or band. So stop ur crap. The truth is we r a powerhouse when it comes to economy and we do have beautiful site seeing. Lately, I've been interested in continuing improving English, a lot. 3 years ago, I studied English in Australia (Sydney and Brisbane) for about 6 months, but I feel it wasn't enough: I am not very confident, yet ... However, after reading some comments of Trini people about their own nation, and especially related to SAFETY PROBLEMS around most of the country: Oh, For goodness'sake! : murders rates, robberies both armed and unarmed, car theft, car jackings, random shootings, etc. I am scared! now I'm not sure if T & T is the best option: I've never been to a Caribbean country, now I'm confused, I don't want to spend my $$$ and waste my time, and even to live there with fear!... @alex vieira, only if you were right, that would be alright with me, but unfortunately you are wrong.
    the truth is that trinidad has one of the highest murder rates in the world per capita beating out places like war torn democratic rep of congo, dominican republic, afghanistan, peurto rico, iraq, pakistan, nigeria and even brazil which is 25.2% compared to trinidad at 30.3% which is on par with columbia, and to add to that we have an untold robberies both armed and unarmed, car theft, car jackings, random shootings, man i can't begin to tell you how lawless this place is.
    in trinidad most houses are heavily burglar proofed with steel doors and steel gates to protect the doors, and by 8pm most people are in their houses except for some deep rural areas where some rumshops and bars remain open past 10pm.
    but in the urban jungle, unless you are in the heavily policed tourist areas like arapita avenue, on the western main road st james, or on the promanade in the heart of the city, it would be almost insane to be out after dark.
    there are at least 5 shootings in trinidad on a daily basis with at least one ended in fatality. i recently spend a week in the area where i was raised as a child watching my aunty's house and taking care of her animals while she was away. every night as the sun went down i heard at least 100 gun shots echoing over the hills and even to some extend in her very neighborhood, truth be told i couldn't fucking wait to get the hell out of there, it was a very unnerving feeling to experience such chaos.
    sorry to disappoint you bro but this country is no paradise, and depending on where you live, this lawless place could be a hell hole.

      Im sorry but the crime there can be managed if the police weren't criminals themselves and that can easily be helped by the development of areas which they seem to be doing I've been to Trinidad and Ive noticed that as long as you aren't really involved with criminals you'll be perfectly fine and only worried about petty poverty driven crimes like robbery but hey if you truly want to see crime come on down to Brazil we look amazing on TV or that movie RIO even in PORN but you definitely would not want to live here

    • @jasonlind8434

      i don't know where you've been in trinidad, but where i was raised every one of my homies has either been robbed shot or shot at more than once.
      i have a good friend who's a male nurse in the main hospital who works in the emergency room, told me that there's never a day that goes by where there aren't more that two gun shot woundings to tend to.
      i believe in the past year they have stepped their game up and the gangs are also in a truce period and the cops have beefed up patrols in these hot spot areas, so the killings and armed robberies has slowed down considerably, but on average, if you venture in the wrong places, or even drive through or pass near a hot spot, your life could be in jeopardy.

      @jackfrost-uy7os Před 9 lety +3

      jason lind Sir its obvious you grew up in the ghetto and i'm very sorry about that but one cannot paint the entire country based on a couple of unfortunate areas. Our country enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the western hemisphere and a robust economy, there are dangerous neighborhoods and crime everywhere but overall T&T is a wonderful place to live and I should know I live here.

    • @jasonlind8434
      @jasonlind8434 Před 9 lety

      jack frost
      first off, there are no ghettos in trinidad, if that's the case then the whole island is a ghetto including barackpor, sanjuan and parts of st james.
      i say that because where i was raised have some of the best infrastructure on the island, for that matter there are places in central trinidad where people claim to be prestigious which looks like a dump compared to east POS where i was raised.
      BTW are you trying to usurp your self over me because i grew up in an "under privileged" area?
      i will have you know that had it not been for east POS, trinidad would have been a regular island void of greatness since most of our heroes who put us on the map orignated in east POS.
      people like dr eric williams, penny commisiong, russell latapy, george baily, stockley charmicheal, jeoffrey holder, david rudder, sparrow, rudolph charles, spree simon, ras shortie, our national instrument, carnival and many more came out of east POS.
      you're not fooling me by telling me that trinidad is a safe place to live and only the ghetto areas are bad, if that's the case then go down to central and tell all those people to remove their burglar proofing from off their windows.
      fact is most trinis live in prison regardless of where they reside. i've seen more burglar proofing in central trinidad than in belmont.
      just recently i saw a shoot out between bandits and three officers, and of all places, deep country barackpor. which goes to show that you don't know what you're talking about.
      i happen to live in trinidad six months out of the year, for that matter right now im on west coast typing this post looking out on the gulf of paria. i live in a gated community with guards and dogs, yet the residents are extremely cautious.
      there are only a few places in trinidad where it's deemed safe for people hang out very late. arrapita ave, western main road st james, and the prominade. people also go to the the croisee (quay zay) and curepe junction for doubles at night, in arima there's also night life, but most of the island is a ghost town at night because people are scared to death.
      so go tell that lie to a tourist my lord, because i know better.

    • @jackfrost-uy7os
      @jackfrost-uy7os Před 9 lety +4

      jason lind No one is trying to talk down to you because of where you live calm down and no one is saying that T&T is the safest place in the world by any means however you're exaggerating just a little bit. Take it from me a professional person from one of those 'prestigious' areas in central(for all of the year) that I feel quite safe where I live and yes I may have to take some precautions but tell me where in the world you don't have too? I've lived in Miami and let me tell you I had to take the exact same safety measures.
      Look its OK to have your views but coming under a video where your country is trying to market itself and spewing all this negativity only hurts our nation and you by extension, so please stop having a deficit of national pride and have conversations about crime at home not on the internet.
