Noel Philips: inflight Video hi Noel, I just wanted to say thank you so much for brightening up my day. Your videos are brilliant. Keep up the good work. From Daniel. Uk England
I’m actually watching your Perth long flight video at the moment as we speak. Thanks again. I really enjoy your videos. It’s something completely to the gaming videos that are all over CZcams. I’ll be sure to see you in the next video.
I used to be a flight attendant and worked many a galley on international flights. You always, always, ALWAYS make sure you have all your catering before you leave the gate. Whoever was working that flight dropped the ball. Even with a new aircraft type, there's no excuse for a meal service taking five hours.
5 hour meal service - OUCH! Definitely fair to give them some leeway as it was the inagural but maybe the crews need some more work-up / familiarisation training/ flights before being deployed LH. Overall a great hard product though and the prices are pretty amazing
The crew should be type trained on that particular aircraft prior to flying as a CAA requirement. They should be fully trained in all aspects of SAFETY AND EVACUATION PROCEDURES as well as being able to handle the meal services on the flight. As ex BA cabin crew it would be inexcusable to provide such shoddy and slapdash service. totally irresponsible of the airline especially on their INAUGURAL FLIGHT!
I feel like this is a trend with Westjet. I remember a Westjet flight from NYC to Toronto, I was served peanuts and a Coke right when we were starting our descent
I have been to Calgary a number of times with various airlines and I recently flew with WestJet about a month ago from Gatwick but on the outgoing 767. I have to say that for the low price I paid I was amazed by the outstanding service. The staff were the best I think I have ever flown with. Super friendly and helpful. Big thumbs up to WestJet!! I will certainly be flying with them again and bypassing the competition.
I know the guy who greeted you at the check-in area, we used to work for the same company! He and I also grew up on the same street in London, although a few years apart!
I live in Calgary and have flown West jet many times. We're heading out to London tomorrow, starting on a WestJet flight to Toronto and then a BA fight to Heathrow. Thanks for stopping over in Calgary!
Orgy of Aviation CZcamsrs at the Business Gate ....love it haha ! At $3000 USD return, you except proper Business Class, however, they are young and hopefully will retrain cabin crew and catering. Seems Faulty Towers are alive and well at 41,000 feet, Mr Noel, you were most patient, polite and very very English.
Plane spotters, train spotters, bus spotters, all alike , super enthusiastic about everything, just have a bit more cash to spend, looked like a great flight
As a former flight attendant I know how service in premium class can go amiss. I feel bad for the nice flight attendant you had as this was her first live business service with west jet. It helps when the flight crew are nice versus sone surly dinostew
Loved the review and was impressed at how speedily you uploaded it, given that you only travelled 2 days ago! And my 2 favourite You Tubers on the same flight - you and Paul! Awesome!
Thank goodness West Jet have upgraded their transatlantic aircraft, I flew the Gatwick - Calgary route several times on their Boeing 767-300ER aircraft most of which were over 20 years old and aquired from Quantas. I experienced technical delays of many hours sometimes lasting up to a day. The service on board was friendly and efficient, the aircraft didn't have business class and Premium Economy was barely worth the price difference.
Thanks so much for this Noel . Just found this on 14/11/21. I flew business class on British Midland from Manchester to Chicago in July 2006 on the holiday I won that went along Route66 to Los Angeles. Watching you eating I can't remember what I had all I can say it was great & the stewardess was amazing . She really looked after me as I'd had a bumpy start ( flight cancellation 24 hours earlier due to incident in Mumbai so I was put in a hotel in Manchester ). The flight home to England after 11 days had its moments too but I survived thanks to airport staff in Los Angelas & Chicago .
Oh an old Handley Page Herald sitting sadly on the grass !! I used to work for BIA/Air UK and remember these aircraft and flew on them a few times as well .
I love their new livery too. Looks very sleek on the 787. Great video :) Edit - also very interesting to see the way the seatbelts are different! Can’t say I’ve ever seen this :)
Hi Noel A great video my friend, it was good to see that you were flying with friends for this flight.... Safety in numbers? I did chuckle to myself when you were all getting your tickets checked the guy looked as if he was from Special Branch!! I thought you were all going to get busted LOL👮👮👮😁😁😁 Your comments about the fare compared to BA are true and to be honest, BA provide an expensive poor service. Keep up your good work. Cheers DS
I think Paul put it well, being the first either way for business WestJet have ever flown, it’s going to have its issue, which will take time to iron out, but when it’s perfect this has the potential to be a very great product at a very good price!
my first WL 787 to Gatwick flew direct but then it started running from Toronto to Gatwick, which was a bummer (Canada's a big country to cross on a small plane.) WJ no longer has the LGW to YYZ route as they have moved back to their home town and hub in Calgary! this has raised many complaints from those in central Canada but for those of us who live in Canada's West Coast, it's a dream...liner come true. Now it's just 1.5 hrs on a little 737 instead of 6 hours crossing Canada in a lipstick tube. This means more time enjoying WJ's excellent business class service and Super Diamond seats! I flew on the last 787 flight from LGW to YYZ, the FA's were quite emotional, as they loved the route and didn't want to see it go. Fortunately, I ran into the same FA on a 787 flight from Vancouver to Toronto a while later, and we rejoiced at the new Calgary to Gatwick service. Now I just gave a short hop on a WJ 737 bus to get to Calgary before i can relax on a Dreamliner to Gatwick. P.S. Dinner service is now very quick and has been consistently fast across numerous trips I've taken with them.
Love your videos!! Been to the real hilton (near the north terminal car park, and it has a large tunnel before entry (free visit due to easyjet overbooking by 13 seats 😬)
Would like to try their long haul someday. WestJet has always been my go to short haul airline . Excellent service and I somehow get bumped to economy plus at random times despite me booking economy.
Hi Noel! Nice to see you drop in my neck of the woods, so to speak, in Calgary, Canada. It can get quite chilly here. Hopefully you got to see some of the sights while you were here, besides our big airport. Lots to see and do in Calgary and surrounding areas. I love watching your videos and feel like I'm right there traveling with you in all your adventures. Awesome to see!! Thank you for that!! Happy trails! ☺️🛫🇨🇦
i know this comment is rather far to late but, heres a much belated welcome to my city of calgary lol also i feel like i need to add that when that flight opened up they were under staffed in the kitchen, i remember the huge hype about this flight becoming a big deal.
I really enjoyed that video - I heard about WestJet's business class product & it's definitely something I'd seriously consider if (when!) I visit Canada again! I think you're probably correct in that most of those service issues were down to this being a new product - the cabin crew seemed really friendly, which is the main thing. Poutine as well - you sold it to me with that (having tried proper Poutine in Montreal, many years ago)!
Hi Noel, love watching your videos and have traveled with you as most of the places you have been to I will never go myself. Glad you finally made it to Canada and hope you came back soon. You should take the train from Toronto to Vancouver, I understand it is lovely.
Okay, I thought it was pretty funny this video had "789" likes, just like the airplanes ICAO abbreviation! Sorry I added by 790th like. But I do love WestJet, and I know they will serious enhance their transatlantic service, and given the quality of their business and premium economy classes and even economy class, for just low prices, should definitely help bring more competition to the market! Great video as always mate!
Just for fun I checked out Business class West Jet Vancouver BC to London UK $3,950 Canadian. They must have given you guys a deal. I must say it's sometimes cheaper (economy tickets) to fly across the world than fly across Canada...we Canadians get ripped off by Canadian airlines. We have a new low cost airline but we'll see how long it lasts.
Yeyyy you flew over where I live sheffield...credit to you for getting this video out so quickly as the flight was only yesterday...looks like a good product for Low cost carrier...worth the money do you reckon?
Now I like the music that accompanies this review. Thank you so much. Could you please upload the entire video to CZcams? Please? Thank you so very, very much.

When is the next inflight video?
go to the carribean on ba first
Meal service commenced over Scotland and finished over Canada! Brilliant 😂👍
I used to be a flight attendant and worked many a galley on international flights. You always, always, ALWAYS make sure you have all your catering before you leave the gate. Whoever was working that flight dropped the ball. Even with a new aircraft type, there's no excuse for a meal service taking five hours.
Especially on biz class. Would have never thought this could happen on an inaugural flight.
What airline did you work for and in what decade/s
24:30 I love how you're clearly angry and yet still polite and calm. Very British of you. 5 hours for the meal service is a joke though !!
Yeah it's kinda european thing but especially British, like I sometimes get iritated by American directness or rudeness
I'm British and not nearly so polite!!!
that’s typical wesjest though
At 12:00 the flight attendant smiled and then she pulled a face when she wasn’t looking at him
@@farmermatt4511 lol
Hey a flight with Paul Lucas! Nice :)
Dang, two of my favourite reviewers travelling together (You & Paul ofc). What a great start to the day!

He's a lovely guy, I felt I had to include him as he's a credit to WestJet.
1:45 Here we see a Mr Paul Lucas in his natural habitat... The airport lounge
I knew that was Paul just from the back of his head exiting the lounge :D
Inflight Video, Paul Lucas and When I Travel the World all in one video.. It's like a you tube trip report convention..Good stuff :)
It was a fun day out
3 of my favourite youtubers in one video. I want more of that :)

I love how it is may here and we just had a massive blizzard in Calgary
Poutine! I love it! Great video and thanks for showing me what I missed out on yesterday....haha
Plane spotters, train spotters, bus spotters, all alike , super enthusiastic about everything, just have a bit more cash to spend, looked like a great flight
This plays like a historical piece happier times before Covid and Lockdowns !
So the guy greeting you has one of the most professional attitudes I have every seen.
One of my favorite channels to watch, and you came to my city! ((Hope you enjoyed Calgary!)) And keep making killer videos 😊
You HAVE to do an Air Transat A310 review before they are gone.
I made one wanna view it?
done
@LGM even in the pandemic?
As a former flight attendant I know how service in premium class can go amiss. I feel bad for the nice flight attendant you had as this was her first live business service with west jet. It helps when the flight crew are nice versus sone surly dinostew
She did seem to be extremely nice, it's not her fault for what went wrong. I hope she is still working with the airlines
I like both you and Paul Lucas!!!!

I knew I recognized James of “When I travel the World”
Awesome
Also a nice review. I like that we have multicam coverage and that your seat offered a Behind the Scenes look at Mr Lucas in action :) and vice versa.

Thanks for the video. Hoping to fly Calgary direct from Dublin with these.

Absolutely Ben, once it's ironed out this will be a fantastic way to cross the pond and very reasonably priced!
One of these days you will learn to dress yourself according to your destination weather. Another great vid!
Just love the video great news Next time my friend come all the way to Vancouver it’s 20° here summertime in May

I ❤your Vlogs. Keep up the good work
I really enjoyed that video - I heard about WestJet's business class product & it's definitely something I'd seriously consider if (when!) I visit Canada again!
I think you're probably correct in that most of those service issues were down to this being a new product - the cabin crew seemed really friendly, which is the main thing.
Poutine as well - you sold it to me with that (having tried proper Poutine in Montreal, many years ago)!
Lovely video...
Before watching this I saw an ad for their biggest competitor Air Canada
Wow I like that airline and the business class looks nice too
Love your shirt !!!

Thanks BigMax we had a great time :)
It was a great AV geek day out.

Noel, I have only just started to watch your reviews. Thoroughly impressed mate. Great work. Cheers John.
Glad you like them!
Great video, nice to see Paul also 👍 not great about the food though, I’m sure they will iron that process out though
An interesting and pleasant video.
Most of all the flight attendants are so kind and my nephews name is Noël too
Love the socks 👍
your videos are awesome
Just noticed that at one point during this video, you actually walked past Clive Beddoe for whom the aircraft is named for...and he looked at you!!
I saw you boarding through Paul Lucas’ video😂
I like it how you never complain about anything. Even when they were out of your 1st choice. Great vid!!!
Did she just ask you if you wanted your dining experience right away? Brilliant!!
THANK YOU FOR KNOWING HOW TO SAY CALGARY PROPERLY!!!!
Personally I’d rather fly air Canada but love this vid of the brand new wesjet 787 flight from London to Calgary. Keep up the amazing vids
Now we’re waiting for QFS to upload his video! I liked all of these videos!
Just for fun I checked out Business class West Jet Vancouver BC to London UK $3,950 Canadian. They must have given you guys a deal. Love these travel vlogs, Noel. Great work and keep 'em coming!
Why does it say Mr Marshgiddings on the IFE?
Absolutely brilliant! Will you be posting the entire flight at some point?
Was that Paul Lucas there too ?
Great vlog but them running out of beer on the inaugural flight is poor. Especially as you hadn't even left the UK!
I can really see how far you have come in three years, great video but you seem more confident these days, keep up the good work x
Thank you so much!
This is too weird seeing all of the guys from channels I follow together on the same video!
It was a great day out.
Love the Quidditch t-shirt. And the rest of the video of course.
Yeyyy you flew over where I live sheffield...credit to you for getting this video out so quickly as the flight was only yesterday...looks like a good product for Low cost carrier...worth the money do you reckon?
At least the beef dish u waited forever for looked fantastic lol.
