    I received my first dose of the Moderna Vaccination, and my 2nd shot is due next month. I was told it's a good idea to drink lots of water, beforehand, to reduce the side effects. I experienced a sore arm, at the injection site, and a dull headache with light headedness. I took some Tylenol and I was fine after resting. Thanks for sharing this informative Vaccine comparison!

    Appreciate your explanation! I had 1st injection on February 2 in New Orleans. Moderna vaccine. Age 77. Somewhat sore around injection area, not bad. Soreness started about 6 hours after injection and faded away by afternoon of the next day. Careful to sleep with that arm up. Tried to move that muscle and shoulder joint frequently. A nurse friend said to "do several chicken wings each hour" -- and I did, plus more. 2nd Moderna injection is scheduled for March 2. I take a lot of Vitamin D -- blood level around 80 in American numbers. I hope that helps. . .

      But the best one to distribute to remote places are JnJ and Novavax! Novavax uses a more traditional method as oppose to mRNA.True, mRNA is faster to engineer, but long term data is not present since it is a first of its kind to be approved. But in the end, if you have no choice, go with any vaccine. If you do have a choice, of course go with a traditional, tested tried and true rather than new technology. At least that is my opinion.

    Thank you Doctor for such a thorough and clear video. I thought/heard the Pfeizer one is the most effective against these new strains. Can you tell us if there is truth to that? To me it seems that Novavax is the best one since it has proven effectiveness against the South African variant despite the low success rate.

    • @LouisKrennMD
      @LouisKrennMD  Před 3 lety +5

      We haven't seen the full data on Novavax. Johnson and Johnson appears to be relatively effective as does Pfizer in some real world data recently released. That doesn't mean that Moderna isn't effective as I'm sure they are working on studies as well. We need real world data, not lab data, to determine how impactful the variants will really be on the vaccine effectiveness.

    • @MrZZooh
      @MrZZooh Před 3 lety +2

      @@LouisKrennMD Thanks for the answer. As a commoner I would have no choice but to take whatever is available but I still feel like Novavax has the best potential for being effective against all variants because it's already proven some significant effectiveness against the South African variant, even if it's just lab results, and is being developed in multiple countries. Also I don't understand why they're only focusing on the spike protein if that's the thing that is mutating right now. It seems like a shortcut they took to quickly develop a vaccine that simply can't keep up with all these new variants.

      @@zeropointpower I’m gonna be 100% honest about my experience.
      I got the shot at around 3pm. The shot didn’t hurt any more than your seasonal flu shot, but the injection wasn’t super great because the volume of the vaccine was kind of high. No big deal though. The site held us for about 20 minutes before releasing us to make sure we had access to EMS in case of a reaction. All was good so I headed home. Around 8pm, I began to feel a little strange. Nothing crazy, just a little fatigued. At around 10pm, I was running a fever of about 100.2. My joints felt stiff, but I had also been in the car for several hours waiting for the vaccine so I attributed it to that. I feel FREEZING COLD as a result of the fever and had aggressive chills, so I took some Tylenol. The Tylenol was effective in stopping the chills.
      I didn’t sleep very well the first night and was up at 6:30am, which is about 2 hours earlier than usual, and I felt AWFUL. I literally felt like I had the flu. Fever, chills, body aches, headache, etc. I took a nap that afternoon and felt slightly better when I woke up. Still running a slight fever, but closer to 99 than 100. I went to bed, crashed HARD and got incredible sleep and woke up feeling totally normal. My arm is still sore to the touch, but it’s seriously not bad at all, it just feels like a bruise.
      My parents were given both doses of the Moderna, my sister-in-law received the Pfizer and my wife and I both got the J&J. The Moderna has mild side effects if any for my parents the first time. The second dose was hard on my parents for 2 days, especially my dad. My sister in law had no side effects aside from injection site soreness and a bad headache after the second dose. My wife had virtually no side effects to the J&J whatsoever. I however did feel bad flu symptoms for about 24 hours.
      Now, for what it’s worth, I have always responded poorly to vaccines. As a child, I had to receive them separately in waves because I would always get sick or breakout. But I do prefer a couple of side effects over potentially dying. So I would say for anyone else, the side effects are relatively easy.
      All in all, 1 day of feeling like hell was worth doing my best to make sure my daughter grows up with healthy parents.

      I don’t know if this helps but
      The extreme autoimmune responses are the immune systems incorrect response to ‘the invasion’ it’s exactly the same risk to the virus or the vaccine ‘virus’
      So effectively it’s equally the same risk to have this bad immune response for any of the vaccines as well not having a vaccine. That’s why it’s not discussed or a reason to not take the vaccines.
