  • Here’s a great new tool you can use to disassemble your Pilot Mu, Elite and Platinum Pocket Pens. I worked with Dale Beebe at Pentooling.com to develop a tool so we can perform essential cleaning of our pens.

Nice to see another of your very helpful videos. Thanks also for the links to all of your tools.

Dayne, I was so pleased when you published this video. I was really happy at the news that a company was actually making this tool. The day the video was published, like many others, I went in search on the web site only to not find it. That's when I just decided to go ahead and sent an email to Dale. He said you were quick cause he had not put the tool on the website at that time. Well I now have one of the new tools in the mail coming my way. Thanks.

I'm glad someone is making this tool now. I've used the dulled-off tweezers a few times, and it's scary every time. I've already messaged Dale at Pentooling to buy one for myself.

You'd be surprised what you can find in your local hobby shops. Not the big box stores, but the smaller local buisnesses that are dedicated to model cars, planes and trains. You can find brass shims for flossing your nibs and I found the brass or aluminum tubes to make my own disassembly tool for vintage Pilots. Also found micro mesh pads to tune nibs or polish scratched pen bodies. The list goes on and on and the items are relatively inexpensive, if you are willing to put the work into it...
Great video! Nice collection! I am jealous 😆...

I definitely agree! For instance, a small bottle of sac shellac costs $5 or $10 at pen shows, but you can buy a pint can at ACE for less, of course that will serve my needs for life!! Unfortunately, I don’t have a hobby store in my area and more and more are being put out of business by Amazon

I have been really hoping for that tool being available, I am really glad to hear it is being made now. I am definitely going to get one! Is these pliers you are using at 12:05 to pull out the feed also from Dale Beebe? What is the name of it? Looks really handy too. Thank your for sharing your knowledge with us!

They’re forceps. They only cost about $10 on Amazon. Here’s a group of four, which may be too many but I find them helpful - a.co/d/04qo7qTg

I’ve not succeeded in adjusting the clutch ring in the cap of my Pilot Elite - it still doesn’t post as it ought. Will this tool help with the problem? Would love to see a video showing how to push the clutch ring down, please.

Does this tool also work for pilot capless nib units m, the Silvern and other pilot models? Thank you.

Hi, no on Pilot capless, those pens come apart simply by unscrewing the section and barrel (body). Yes on all their vintage cartridge/converter pens. I’ve tried it on the E-95 and it fits but I wasn’t able to get the slotted retainer to unscrew.

@@daynenix2832thanks. The nib unit on the capless has a similar locking nut cum piercer. I was asking if this tool would fit that as well. But thanks anyway.

@@daynenix2832 I didn't find it on their site. Perhaps it hasn't been added yet. I looked in the Tools section. I assumed it would be in Tools> Generic/Misc Tools > Files, Brushes, Odd Tools. Maybe they hid it elsewhere. Their SAC EXPANDER made it possible for me to change ink sacs with one hand. Nice tool.
