I will prefer a suburb/Village apartment/Villa, 1 hour ride from any big city in Portugal because distance is no problem now days. Fresh air, less pollution cheap fresh food in local market.

totally bull shit it's not easy to get the house on rent just on passport and NIF, you need a job contract + payslips + IRS + guarantor, and the salary should be double the house rent so collecting all these documents you become shit. those are coming with family be careful.
