This is superb, just subscribed. Spent many a happy hour in the same spots taking stills despite being a Gog. A great era for us diesel enthusiasts. When I clicked on this video I hoped to see lots of good stuff but espescialy the 56's on the iron ore, I wasn't disappointed. Hard to remember sometimes in what sequence some of the big changes on the rails took place. One example here that surprised me was a big logo rail-freight sector 37 on vacuum braked, 4-wheeled coal wagons and of course, post miners strike. On top of all the good memories here, this is very well edited and well filmed in the first place. Great stuff and looking forward to watching the next one.

Great vid. You were very lucky to catch a glimpse of the rarely seen Welders, Actually Welding up a crossing nose, these rare creatures only used to come out at night. Lol.
Nice to see the local gang on the job too. Nice little work site in front of the Tunnels. I do miss the Pway, along with all the classic Diesels of that era.
    Thanks for sharing.
    👍😎

How fascinating. You've got double headed 56s on the Llanwern iron ore, overtaking a trip freight hauled with an 08 complete with brake van!

Great video, I was born in Newport and I was working in the Civic Centre back in 88. Brings back memories. I've been driving for FGW since 2003, most of this area was the same as this when I started, it's all changed now, especially now the wires are going up.
    Cheers, Rich

No graffiti or overgrowth with weeds and buddleia, then were the days.

Yeah I remember them days,, I was at Shrewsbury Pway, we hated the 'Butterfly Bushes' to think people actually buy them from garden centres lol.
