The Nintendo April Fools was the best VR April fools ever! It also looked like a pretty awesome gaming experience.
Another new update on V64 PTC is that the notification list finally has a "CLEAR ALL" button. It's been so frustrating up to now to have to clear all those notifications one by one.
With v63 the notification icon stops showing its blue dot once you select it and afterwards all the noticications clear themselves when you restart your headset anyway. Still good that v64 will allow you to clear them all, if that bothers you I guess.

The immortality thing sounds rather dystopian. I don't mind the idea of someone 100 years from now meeting my avatar but the idea of a corporation owning something that resembles me is pretty bad in itself. I also think using it to talk to deceased loved ones is a pretty bad form of therapy. I'm just imagining a guy that stays at home all day and speaks to an avatar resembling his deceased wife and never meeting new people as a result. I think if you're always holding onto this virtual avatar of a loved one you can't really let them go and move on.

When you were talking about living forever in VR I was reminded of Ready Player One when James Halliday said that he wasn't an avatar and that he was really dead. He never answered Perceval's question of what he was? Maybe he was Hallidays thoughts living inside of an AI construct. It just amazes me how that movie seemed so far fetched that movie seemed just six years ago, and how we have watched almost everything in it come to reality.

It's so wild to hear someone say this because Apple's Spatial Personas are just a imitation version of Oculus Rooms from Quest Go.
And the real VR vets are mad because Apple is getting praised for something Oculus people never wanted to lose.
I still don't see why the entirety of Oculus Rooms couldn't have just been preserved in the Home tab of Horizon Worlds.
While i can have a lot of fun amongst hundreds of people in a Horizon world, sometimes its that isolated 2-4 person experience in a room customized with my selected environment and frames full of my personally chosen pictures that hits home.

I'm still rocking the original Quest. Guess I'm going to have to upgrade this year but I don't got $500+ to spend on the Quest 3. I know the Quest 2 is $200 but I know that'll become obsolete within the next year or two.

@@SteveKnows Was 270€ in outlet and were just very small trace of use (one scratch in controller that is very hard to see) plus it solved my headache issue that i suffered from Q2 for 1 quarter of year xD Also yes i love it :D

Can you recommend a wall charger that charges faster than the default Quest 3 one and is safe to use? Takes a long time with the included Quest 3 wall charger to charge the headset. Since I use aftermarket head device charging docks are a no-go. Thank you.
I just use an USB C laptop cable that I had floating around
When my Q3 gives me that 'need to charge' warning sound, I continue using the quest and plug the included charger into the quest. Making sure the charger is in an open air space since it will get somewhat hot while powering the active quest and charging the battery back up to about 40 -50%. At that point (total 3-4 hrs running time with a 40-50% charge, I feel it's best to turn it of and let it charge normally since at this point the load becomes excessive for the little charger. I've been doing this with no problems for some time now.

Why has nobody addressed the issue that thousands of Q3 owners were hoping this update would fix? Namely, the water/debris error message bug.
The quest 3 has always allowed you to lay down and use the device! I’ve always been able to do since I bought it bac in January lol
Me too. I wish the 180/360 VR content from the TV app or from CZcams to name two, would adjust for lying down. Come to think of it I can't think of any VR besides streaming to a player, that can be adjusted for lying down. So it's just the 2D screens that allow this.
With every day AVP feels more and more dystopian. I guess cyberpunk and other countless media about our possible future has taught us nothing :/

Yes, the idea of creating another universe (the metaverse) will lead to a type of immortality. Another type of idea that may add to the realism of our virtual clones is recording everyday of your waking life; not only allowing photographic memory, but can be used to increase the correlational between us and our clones. 👻

Man, Somnium is trying to turn people's loved ones into NFTs. That has horrifying implications! It essentially means that Somnium would have the final say on whether you could speak with a deceased loved one if they went through that distopian nightmare! Also in 30minutes they could never extract memories, so your deceased loved one could end up behind a paywall, and they would also have no memory of you.

I tried casting to PC for the first time and I noticed I can not see the menu or menu screen in the cast. Am I missing something? How can I navigate the quest with a controller with someone with no experience wearing it, and you want to show them around (so to speak)? Can someone help me with this?
the phone casting i know for sure gives you control over booting games and other options for the person inside the headset. but on PC I'm not sure.
@@SteveKnows I followed the casting instructions from Meta for PC. I see the menu and menu board in the HMD but it not showing in the casted PC image. How are we supposed to show another how something is done or take them somewhere? Assuming they are not experienced, I would hold the controller and while watching the cast, be able to navigate...but I can not. Is this normal...is it the same when casted to a smart phone? Thanks Steve. (EDIT - the cast is made with the Quest3 camera set to on...if that helps)
'Problem solved' - it turns out that the menu and screen(s) disappear if you are in an environment. So far only in pass-through will the menu show in the cast. And if in pass-through and you remove the headset, it will automatically go to your environment...hiding the cast menu.
Nintendo DOES have a VR mode in some games unfortunately it isnt really good... More like Cardboard VR with your phone that Meta Quest

I don't like what they're doing with the Quest 1, if games can still work on it, why prevent devs from making games for it? And you can buy a quest 2 for 200, where in a years time they'll do exactly what they're doing now with the quest 2 so then you need to buy a quest 3. Yeah nah.
Most people i showed VR too were not that impressed tbh.
Also i sold my quest 2 over a year ago, get a meta quest 3 last month and dad and nephew asked if they can go on new games.... unfortunately i had to tell them the types of games they like and full proper games theres been barely any decent new releases in over a year lol which is totally true
Really? I had convinced multiple people to buy their own headsets to play. There's definitely more games that need to be made but I was also showing them the wonders of connecting your headset to my PC and playing pcvr games so that might have had something to do with it
I think that once the cheaper quest 3 lite comes out and less people are using the weak processing of the quest 2 game devs will start REALLY taking advantage of the double processing power of the quest 3!
