- We didn't wait long for the dust to settle from Christmas before we set off on another epic trip to play fruit machines of yesteryear as I left the house at 5am on Friday morning on a cold, dark and very typical Mancunian morning I thought to myself....

Had one at Bens for a bit but because it didn't have a battery on board it was always too far from the run as a ram reset.

down to the jackpots of that era, token payouts etc really, believe it or not these got bastardised to ticket payouts somewhere down the line, that's really madness that people did that to them.
They would have been £5 token and £2.50 cash. However, at the time, machines had just started paying out 20p coins, thus meaning they couldn't pay £2.50. So they made it £2.40 cash £4.80 token

@AdamF8 absolutely welcome. Loads of private sellers don't bother. Loads of machines on FB marketplace in various conditions and machines on ebay from both licenced and unlicenced sellers as well as businesses that sell them. Hope you find what you are after.

Being a fruity gambler and originally from kings lynn, no way the venue will survive in current location. With everything up the coast moving to redemption, if you find a small unit Hunstanton etc, sure you’d make a load

Question time james, that pot of gold is that a remake of a machine called "gold reserve" well i think it was called that. Im sure someone here will know.
Grew up in skeggy myself and they was everywhere... only £5jpt unfortunately though
Gold Reserve was made by MDM and Pot of Gold was made by Ace, they also made Robin Hood which is a direct clone. I have said Gold Reserve would be a bit of a rip off of Ace/JPM's layout if anything. Other similar machines were done along this sort of layout too.

Slowly haha i used to visit skeggy for the 6weeks and easter break, but that stopped a good 5 years back too many wannabe players and a fraction of fruits compared to what used to be there. Not worth the trip for me but kings is good for a fix as it's only an hour from me.

If you love old fruit machines so much, and I watch a lot of the old retro fruit videos including yourself, then why not be a bit gentler with the buttons rather than slapping them?
I get this sort of comment sometimes, I have never in my life damaged one single button, I'm naturally a bit heavy handed but they were designed to go in pubs and they are hard to damage.
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines ok no probs. You definitely know way more than me about fruit machines, no doubt whatsoever. Like you said, it’s come up before. It just looks and sounds pretty heavy handed when a gentle press would be what I would do. No probs 👍🏻
Just can't help how you do it, this is maybe 30 years worth of how I press the buttons, but they are fairly robust little units and designed for the environment they live in. Only way they tend to get damaged is when someone does it intentionally.
