Mike when I repaired the lower doors had them off the bus. Main reason not moblie enough due to back and feet , i have no ankle joints so hard to bend for any lenght of time. I did what i needed, set it up in a position where i can do the work. My goal is to do all the work myself, which is why i work on them ; not to flip sell or make a show car. I think what save me time I use the Klassicfab patch panels for this repair on inner & outer doors. Due to dollars I have patch panel from many places , CIP1,Wolfburg West, Mid AmericanMotor Works. You get what you pay for some need more time to fit right than other . Where i left off on my bus was installing lower rocker under cargo doors. It is clamp in place & was not fitting, now i know what to look for after watching your video. I bet it is that extended flange you had to grind off on your rocker which i got from from same place. Going on 66 I know the day coming where i will not be able to work on my VW, my doctors are wanting me to stop now.

yea I get the health stuff bud lets hope you can get her done anyway. Almost all the time I have to refit them on the car. Each bus has different fitment from what I have done. plus the green door repair sections do not have the radius so they need to be fitted. That part can me more time consuming then putting in the cargo floors. I dont usually buy the Klokkerholm door repair sections because they dont fit correctly so making them was just easier. slit cut the sides so they follow the radius. The auto craft ones have that radius so they fit much better. and not too expensive. WW just started selling them a few years ago after I did most of my busses.

it is totally normal that you have to fiddle to adjust panels for two major reason, the first one is that you assemble the vehicule without jigs as the original was assembled and this vehicule have surely been driven in the rot conditions you recieve it so it have distorded so even if the panels are from the original factory, the chances are great that they need massaging to make them fit properly.
It is an excellent work you do on that vehicule

This video reminds me of surgeons conducting a hip replacement surgery ...If people were left awake and saw the size of the hammers the surgeons use !...The end result is what matters ! Keep up the great work !

Thanks for the video. I wish I would of known about panel adhesive 10 years ago when I did my cargo door rocker panel. I am a Heavy Diesel Mechanic by trade, I only dabble in body work and paint.

dabbling is good. those floors are so solid. OMG video coming on that. as soon as you set them in it is like THUD. you can feel the adhesive between the metal surfaces. clamp them down and it would take some work to remove them after that. OMG they are in there. I hammered on the edge with only 1/2 inch of adhesive and it would not separate. bent the edge back over with the adhesive as a bond no separation.

These are really awesome vids you're making Mike! I am learning so much for my Bus project from watching you! I can certainly relate to your way of not having to repair everything 'perfectly-like-factory' attitude, as I buy my VWs to drive - and not for a museum - as well! Please keep up the great work!

After market panels are a pain to fit but tbh the more expensive repair panels are sometimes a pain to fettle in to work , but your doing a grand job sir !! Loving the series happy new year -vwcoco-uk
