Great unit. I traded in my original for this one for the DVS function. Now I can use my old cdj's and do 4 deck mixing without toggling the shared platters.
Would be nice if either Serato or Pioneer enabled the effects on/off button to flash when the effect is alive. If you are like me then how many times have you left your echo out on and stood there like a spent Melon waiting for the track to start only to then just about notice your echo out is still on!? How helpful would an effects button be if it flashed as soon as start turning the effect knob and stop when you completely kill the effect..it would help a hhhuuuugggeee ammount imo.
Hahhh! Yesterday I brought my ssx2 to gig and did a b2b with my friend. He only used it like 2-3 times, so he constantly left the echo ON. And yeah, it took me a missed cross to realize it was ON. Flashing would def helped there.
+who is AEK would love to try it! sort of outgrowing my ns6! and having 8 touch pad is a lot better then only 5! also like the twin deck control fuction! pretty neat when mixing acapella and instrumental! pioneer did a really good job on this! just wished it would have a screen so I can close my pc! except that, looks very promising!
I played with a DDJ SR at a gig a couple weeks ago and those MPC pads are a dream to use once you realize that pressing them hard enough is instant activation. Feels much nicer than the buttons on a 4Trak.
It's basically the smaller version of this. The faders are stiff and the jog wheels are too tight for my liking. If the NS6 wheels are really lose, the SR is almost the exact opposite. But my God those pads though!!! That and it was literally download the driver, update the firmware, play. I can unplug it, plug it back in, and it would still continue. Can't do that in Traktor.
I'm feeling remorse now. Just bought a SL 2 and a DDJ SP1 two months ago. Should've bought the SX 2 + DVS expansion pack instead and use it as my mixer + takeaway controller for gigs.
i started w/ numark but realized i like the simplicity and layout of pioneers products as where numark only really has entry level and the ns7 is the only real thing i would consider but its too expensive\
The big problem with ddj-sx2 is that you can't plug turntables in decks 3 and 4, only decks 1 and 2 are able to receive timecode, and these both decks are right in the middle of the controller, so if you want two decks to be controlled by jog wheels and other two decks to be controlled by vinyl, channels on the mixer will not be in correct order
If you need a "Correct Order" then you're not diverse enough. Unless you get hammered while you're playing or have OCD to the level that 1&2 aren't interchangeable with 3&4. I have had to use plenty of different configs over the years, and that doesn't even seem like it would be worth mentioning for anyone with chops...
Thanks. I didnt know you can switch needle search into the safe mode. Just read the manual and was easy to change. Even the Demo mode (blinkin like an amusement park after a couple of minutes) you can change and switch off. was annyoing for me when I play with an externel player thru the mixer and it starts blinkin. Now I switched it off as well and it looks more professionell without blinkin demo mode. Whats still quiet confusing r the channels for DVS. Why cant we use 3+4. For the mixer setup it makes more sense and you could still use the jogs on the sx 2.

Mojaxx can you confirm whether or not the sound card was improved in the sx2 from the sx1? I am debating upgrading from sx1 as i find the sound quality can be harsh running serato dj. Normal Line in source would sound fine.

I have an DDJ-SX2 and I can't get .ALS to show up in the Serato Recording. I read Bridge wouldn't work with Ableton 9, so you have to use Ableton 8 (32 bit). I've tried both Ableton 8 & 9, and can't get .ALS to show up. Anyone know why I can't get the .ALS to show up?

Planning on buying SX2 but the only thing holding me back is my Traktor S4 and Traktor Pro as the software. I noticed there are TSI mappings for SX2 to work on Traktor Pro but if they weren't "meant to be together"... will I encounter some issues at some point? I have no plans on moving to Serato, that's why it's so important. I want a Pioneer controller but still stay with the software I know and love.

Alright mate liked the review it helped me in making my decision to get the SX2. Ive got a problem with mine though everything works except i cant get any sound out of my speakers or headphones. Ive installed the latest drivers and firmware. And i have the 2 red and white cables running from the master out 2 in to my monitor speakers. I have nothing else connected in the master outputs. Can you help?
+danny mills Although this has MIDI mappings for Traktor use, I doubt they will ever make a dedicated Traktor controller anymore since NI makes their own hardware exclusively for Traktor now. Also, it's looking less and less likely that Pioneer will make anymore Serato controllers either now that Pioneer is promoting their own Rekordbox DJ software.
How close is this to the real thing? cdj's i mean, in terms of feel, responsiveness, pitch, volume levels etc. Does practicing on this applies to a proper cdj setup?
Dj Lee After entering the Utilities mode on the SX2, press the CENSOR button on the left deck (it will light up), then exit the Utilities mode by powering it off. This setting change will disable needle search while a track is playing.
The CDJ Jog wheel will be bigger but it really depends if you stay with DDJSX2's mixer or not. All the features you got use to may change if you get another mixer and to find a mixer that does the same as the X2 would be priced more. So using SX2 with your CDJs as an expansion is the best route but requires more table space with CDJS spread further apart.
It's a little too complicated to explain here, but it's pretty easy to do. It's explained in the manual, which is available to download from Pioneer's website.
I've used both the Sx1 and SX2 at festival level events and houseparties alike... It's excellent. If someone has a complaint about what this thing pushes, they don't know how to set their rig up.

yes you can do that, connect your vinyl decks to any sx2 deck you want and choose "line" or "cd" input

Is there any difference in audio quality vs the DDJ-SX?
DVS Functionality. HUGE PLUS. I refuse to NOT have LED read-outs when mixing. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
