You know Finns have rubbed on you when you too enjoy seeing your friends reaction to salmiakki 😄
hahaha maybe
@@DAIKIFinlandLife
What do you mean maybe?
Forcing your tourist friend to taste salmiakki, even though you are quite sure he dislikes it....
This is so Finnish that you could call it an finnish ritual !
Next time try to feed him Mämmi :D
PS. I really loved the video, I hope more of your japanese friends visit FI.
I love that more and more Japanese people are coming and living in Europe. We need more Japanese here!
スウェーデンからの多くの愛
A lovely vibe in this video. Seems like your friend had a good time visiting you. And you were an excellent Helsinki tour guide for him.
Thank you! He had fun I guess.
how can anyone not like salmiakki? Finland's best gift to the world!
I live in Finland, and i have never liked it tbh
It is not a finnish invention.
You guys have a special ability to enjoy it :)
Angry Birds? Muumi? Isnt tutti frutti a finnish product as well? Thats really good. Oh and the finnish bread is nice. And greetings from Estonia!
@@diamondsarenotforever8542 We don't really know who invented it but I guess not.
I'm actually a Finn who's studying in Japan right now and watching this video makes me remember how empty Finland, and even Helsinki as the capital, is. Here there are people everywhere but Finland is so pieceful, which I do miss, especially now after watching the video 😄 I loved watching the video, thank you!!
Thank you! Hope Japan is treating you nicely!
ah the classic, make someone taste salmiakki 😄 I have no idea why salmiakki is mostly Nordic thing and why most of us like it. I always feel like no one else like it.
I think the Dutch also like salmiakki quite a lot, from what I've heard
People say it's an acquired taste but I'm not sure if I will acquire it someday 😂
@@Cronin_ we do like it ❤
@@DAIKIFinlandLife I've heard asians especially have a difficulty with salmiakki(as do everyone else to be fair), just like wasabi is an acquired taste, maybe that fills up the slot for acquirable tastes haha
I am Dutch, and almost everybody in the Netherlands likes "drop" as we call it.
Your friend was lucky to have you show him all the classic sights around Helsinki city centre. Especially eating the creamy salmon soup more than once. I hope he tasted Karjalan Piirakka…. I could eat those two things and never tire of them.
I was only a child on my first visit and have liked the taste of Salmiakki ever since then. Maybe it’s in my Finnish blood to like it 😁
Oh yes, he missed Karjalanpiirakka! :D
Yea he did miss karjalanpiirakka
I really like the respectful tone of this video, really showing the good sides of Helsinki to your friend. Lohikeitto is so close to my heart I'm glad it was well received! 😋
Kudos for you taking a dip in the chilly Baltic Sea. Respect! Great video 🇸🇪🇫🇮
Kiitos!!
As a person who has lived his whole life in Helsinki, it's always fun to see videos like these as you even went to places that I never have gone. Another thing as you live in this city you don't go places like restaurants that easily as why pay there, when you can just get most of the stuff from grocery store and make it yourself =). Hopefully you guys had fun.
I've lived in Helsinki for 3 yrs and still and probably will go to those places even though it costs more than grocery stores just because it's nice to visit there sometimes :)
I was pretty surprised by his appreciation for the cleanliness of the air, even in Helsinki which is the most clogged and congested city in Finland 😱If anything, maybe next time you dip in the sea after sauna, do it slowly. Take a deep breath and take your time to acclimate to the waters temperature, don't move around, sooner than later you'll find the water become very warm around you, and only once you move, does it get cold again. 😄 Godspeed anyhow, love the videos.
Yeah clean air and water are something we tend to forget but they are so important :)
I like how you pointed out the symbolism of the original long drink. Even though the grayest day of the year has only been a thing for a short time, that gray colour of the drink has always had a symbolic value for finns.
Daiki, you are the most finnish japanese guy in the world 😅🙏👍
Haha maybe I can say that after being able to eat salmiakki 😂
Salmon soup and smoked salmon is easily my favorite food ever. Fresh smoked salmon smells incredible
wow wtf you said "lohikeitto" 100% like a finn! i had to rewind 3 times!
haha it's an easy pronunciation for me :D
very entertaining video and nice to see your friend enjoying Finland🤗
Thank you!
Runeberg is not just a poet. He's like, THE poet. :D
Kokoro, domo arigato!
Beautiful selection of piano songs and editing for the "b-roll". Salmiakki is an interesting candy but as pointed out in the video you either hate it or like it. @Daiki You got some great talent kid, keep it going... damn now I feel for some salmon soup and rye bread :'D
Thank you for your kind word! So glad to hear that. I'm still learning though :)
I love salmiakki, but different kind salmiakki. The one which has salt on it (malaco suosikit, suolainen salmiakki). I also like to eat green Fazer Tuttifrutti Mix salmiakki with the fruit candy. Tastes excellent together, better than separately. I think the lilac blueberry moomilaku licourice bar is maybe the easiest to start with.
This was fun 😄! Lucky your friend managed to visit during one of the rare sunny days this month. November truly is the grayes moth there is. The salmiakki taste test never gets old 😁.
Yeah so lucky! Well...we are sunshine boys :)
Glad that your childhood tomodachi visited you!
He may be tempted to move to Finland too 😉
Friendship keeps you warm, Daiki!
Haha thank you! Yeah good to stay in touch with a old friend.
Such a wholesome video, thank you for sharing it with us. You seem like a wonderful friend to have.
Thanks for your nice comment!
Great video!
I like how your friend went to grab big handfuls of those geisha chocolate bars. They're always a nice souvenir.
Agree, when my family visited here they bought more than 80 bars...
this really cheered me up :) thank you for sharing!!
Really cool video!
Loved that music somewhere around 11 minutes... "The boys are going to the city" vibes 😂
great video!
Fun video 👍
Wow nice one thank you
Awesome video 🇫🇮👍
This is truly a good vibes video!
You made me smile the whole video.
This video made me very happy, so joyful!
It was nice to see Helsinki through your eyes 😊 Thank you!
It is nice to have such a close friend. 🤗
6:05 I love how quiet and peaceful it is
Never been to Helsinki. . . now it is on my bucketlist.
Honestly this was the best thing to pop up in my recommended. I love seeing folk visiting this Country.
Gosh, I became so hungry watching you two eat delicious foods!
This was comfy :3
Good video, it was nice seeing you try different finnish foods and going to the sauna etc.
Some day I want to visit japan and try japanese foods and go to the onsen :D
Nice video! Simple and down to earth. Great shot of the blue sky after the dip in the sea.
Thank you for watching!
Im gettig so hungry from this video I need to get something to eat :D
だいきくんのこのビデオは雰囲気がいい。やっぱり久しぶり友達と会うとハッピー。
You look relaxed than usual!
Thanks to my friend or sauna lol
I laughed seeing your friends reaction to the salmiakki 😂 As I kid I hated it but iv learned to love it over the years. 👍 Great video, hope your friend enjoyed Finland 🇫🇮
It is such a good panoramic stroll you have shown in this video! Reminds me of my last visit to Helsinki last year.
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
There is also a statue of Runeberg in Porvoo. His home is here aswell :D
Arigato gozaimasu for showing this side of Finland. Hope you are doing well! If you ever visit Turku-Naantali region for the beautiful landscape please let me know!
I hope your friend enjoyed his stay in our strange country! Good video as always!
Thank you! Yes he really did!
Hyvä video!
I really enjoyed this video😁 keep up the great work, greetings from Lapland😄
Thank you! I miss Lapland!
i may only live like 1hr or so away from helsinki still never been to the center at least i can watch how it looks also licorice ice cream or yoghurt goes hard candy also good tho
Great vlogs, you just earned a new subscriber. Excellent choice of salmiakki by the way. 😄
Thank you for watching!
Pretty sure the salmon on the bread was actually cold-smoked, which is an entirely different process from regular hot smoking. It gives the smoked things it's own, different taste compared to hot smoking, and the texture is also different.
Also, if you get the chance, try out some graavilohi, salt-cured salmon.
Yeah graavilohi is good.
woh! Beauftiul city love it.kiitos
I have to say:
You make my day, you make me happy & smiling, Thank you💗. From 🇫🇮
I'm very happy to hear that, thank you for watching!
"Are they selling this as a joke" 😂😂
That's my favorite part :)
great video - now i'm in some mood for salmon soup :D
Thanks for YT (lol). I saw this video, and caught my eye. Yes, Finland is known for its peacefulness and quiet place, specifically, if you aren't so near the capital or the central regions.
Speaking of trying salmiakki (salty licorice), push the mild version of Lakritsi (licorice/sweet licorice). Honest, I still can't eat them, only Rye bread which is "Ruisleipä" in Finnish.
go to lapland with him sometime on winter time to watch some northern lights :D
Good idea :)
very good video!
Kiitos!
80 percent of the videos are about delicious food (I already ate 2 times in the video) and 20 percent about everything else hahahaha. How I want to move to Finland. Thank you friend for the positive emotions before work and good mood to you!)
Hahaha, thank you for watching!
I don't personally eat fish, but a relative of mine is always giving compliments to the salmon soup in Uunisaari. You should give it a try.
Did you guys try Hesburger? Its a finnish burger restaurant. And its super good!
Good video!
Kiitos!
Hehee salmiakki is like vine. You need to get used to it. It tooks many taste runs before it opens to you. Like secret..
How nice of you to show your friend around in Helsinki. You showed him some of the best places in Helsinki for sure. Maybe you should become a tour guide for Japanese people 😄 I'm positively surprised at how much he seemed to enjoy it here and I'm happy you took him to see Tallinn as well. Tallinn is very conveniently located and a typical weekend destination for many people who live in Helsinki.
Btw, I appreciate how you made him try out salmiakki. It's a must when you come to visit Finland. However his reaction to it came as no surprise 😂 We Finnish people will still appreciate the bravery of trying 😄👍🏻
Haha yeah, and weather was a key thing to enjoy here :)
Hello you guys in finland
11:09 Yeah it's weird my fiancé also loves salmiakki
That air quality comment reminded me of when I first went to New York. I threw up within an hour of breathing the city air
Smoked salmon... every christmas smoked salmon my stepmother made was so delicious, that she had to buy more almost every day. The way she salted salmon so excessively made it so perfect.
I enjoyed this video very much, hence, フィンランドからどうもありがとう
ありがとうございます!
If he liked Helsinki now, he should come back in the summer when the city is really thriving.
I love how he asked if salmiakki is sold as a joke LMAO
Didn't even watch the video yet but really cool to see quote from linux torvalds here😄 greetings from tampere
Edit: I'm glad he enjoyed avanto and creamy fish soup. Salmiakki wasn't that suprising and I love it how he asked if it's sold as a joke😂😂
It's always funny to me how there were discussions a while back whether or not those Geisha candy bars are insensitive or not but as far as I'm aware, it's the first thing Japanese people go for when they see them!
Guys, guys! Do not mess with the Salmiakki😁Great video, thank you very many. Hope you had a blast in Tallin. Hopefully your friend comes again and then it is Mämmi-time😅🤣
Haha thank you for watching! At least I love mämmi😀
@@DAIKIFinlandLife You are "almost" Finnish Just the Sauna-Avanto/Swimming part and you`ll got your citizenship😁😁
Salmiakki, best flavor in the world!
I dont like how every traveler thinks that Helsinki is all Finland has. Its just a middle size city you can find everywhere. Real Finland starts outside of it.
I don't think Helsinki is all Finland has.
Even I've never dipped in freezing water after sauna. If you ask me you're more Finn than I am now. 😅
👍
Suomi, sauna, salmon, salmiakki. The whole shebang.
When you go to helsinki pov eow this so small when its 7% finlands land area
It is really great that you brought your best friend here! I really do love asian(Japanese, korean, chinese etc) people but especially you Japanese. You guys are like us finnish guys but you are even 100 times more polite than us. Also asian baibies are always so well behaved they dont't make a sound. 😮 I just found your channel. How long have u been in Finland and are u working or studuing?
Thank you! I first moved here 6 yrs ago for study and now working :)
@@DAIKIFinlandLife Sounds awesome! Have fun with those! 😊
What's the name of the first restaurant you visited in this video? I would like to bring my friend there too. :) Always fun to experience Helsinki from other people's perspectives. Thanks for the great video 😊
Thank you! It's Ravintola Zetor.
lmao I was working at that restaurant that day😂
Haha funny coincidence :)
I wonder how much smaller helsinki seems if you have lived in a place like tokyo or new york. Because i dont even live in a city even helsinki seems massive.
Haha good point. Helsinki is compact in a good way :)
Geisha has always been my favorite chocolate bar here in Finland. Glad your friend found it interesting enough to buy it as a souvenir, he won't regret it 😂 Because of all the WOKE stuff going on in media, here they have discussed changing the name because it may be insulting. I really hope they won't change the name of this legendary chocolate bar, I really like the whole Japanese theme in it.
I hope so too, they don't need to change it in my opinion.
Maybe you can go to visit in Fazer experience tour and tell them straight or send an email to Fazer. I think they are interested of your opinion.
This woke bs goes to far😅
@@syrjanen3397 Say no more
Yeah, the pink coloring is rly calming to me (no idea why tho) on the packaging etc
"Are they selling this as a joke?" 🤣 I think he might also join the task force to protect people from salmiakki. You chose very nice places to visit with your friend, I'm glad the weather seemed to be mostly great, which is not often a given thing here.
Intriguing that he mentioned it unusual that a poet has been 'statuesized'. What kind of people would typically have their own statue in Japan?
Why did your friend take geisha bars? I am rather curious
Because it's popular here and tasty.
"It's cool that a poet became a statue"
Is one of those lines with which you find cultural differences in casual conversation. Someone could talk to me about Japanese culture for hours and I'd probably never get to learn that statues of poets are rare.
That being said, it is very much logical that Runeberg would be more treasured than most poets. Runeberg and his contemporaries didn't just comment on their time, they more or less invented our national identity, yet they are still recent enough that their lives are entirely documented. Few people have ever been in such a position.
Paljon onnea!
In Finland like every single soup has potatos
one sad thing in finland is that coverment acting that helsinki is finland and what is wrong it its every ones broplem all round finland
お友達は面白かったね。でも、サルミアッキは無理でしょうかしら。もう一番のテストお願いします。
Do you know java?
No
Salmiakki on hyvää on on hyvää english its good
7:16 all Northern europeans watching this: weak boys lol
They did great! Swimming during the colder months is something you build up to :) Strentgh comes from practise.
@@matkahenkilo8554 i agree!
