    Never seen anyone on CZcams testing out and care about number of folders or USB today..

    But on the other hand I enjoy playing LPs also and that is a older school than that..😅
    Maybe good to know for the fellow audiophiles that most of any sound different (that last ~two percent). Is coming from the builtin DAC..
    In other words if you use the same external DAC all of the sonically DIFFERENCE between them should be gone..

    Great review! I don't like Yamaha CD-300, it's an empty box inside! And if there's no difference in sound quality, I wouldn't like to buy Marantz CD6007! Instead I would like to get Denon DCD-900NE and I'd love to see a comparison between those 2 flagmen, but there's none! Thank you for helping me decide between Marantz and Denon! And yes, I think Marantz at last should upgrade how their CD players look! It's boring to look at the same design over decades! Denon looks just amazing!

    FLAC vs MP3 can’t even be mentioned in the same context.
    MP3 is about 1/5th of the quality of CD whereas FLAC is uncompressed audio but compressed like a zip file, so when it's played it’s decompressed with no loss of quality so in the context of a CD, instead of 320kbs as in mp3 you’ll get 1410kbs.
    The differences when played side by side are all there to be heard.
    With higher quality transports, they can often make a bigger noticeable difference than Dacs at similar money.

    Hello. I listened to the comparison with headphones and saw such a small difference that I am not sure (in favor of Marantz). However, with the after market logitech speakers I heard a small difference, with the yamaha having a slightly more emphasized mid-highs. This impressed me because the Yamaha's dac, Burr Brown is known to be sweetersounding (less bright) than marantz's AKM AK4490 dac!!!What is your explanation? In general, marantz cd players have emphasized mid-highs and treble (to my experience). The same applies to their amplifiers (I listened to the pm6006-CD 6006 with paradigm speakers in a store for 40 minutes at 2018, and I left running...). Very tiring sound.

    Hi guys, I'll take advantage of the site to express a need.
    I'll start by mentioning what I have at the moment so it's easier to help me. I have an AT-LP120XUSB Turntable, Speakers Edifier S1000 MKII.
    My need is basically to have a device no more than $400 US that allows me to listen to my CDs taking advantage of the speakers I have for now which are pre-amplified (active). Surely later I will choose to upgrade to passive speakers. Likewise, I want one that is versatile as much as possible, that is, that allows active and passive speakers to be directly connected to the device, I'd like also and
    less important one with a USB input (for digital files in which the artists stopped releasing the disc) even more so, this being not more relevant that I can connect my turntable, however, this hobby being so expensive, I think I will take some time to get some passive ones. Assuming that this does not make sense or is not possible, the truth is that I do not have extensive knowledge. What solution do you offer me to take advantage of the current speakers and play my CDs.
    I will list the options I have filtered.
    1) Yamaha CD-S303 $380 US. Reading and listening to reviews, it seems that for its features it has an inflated price (I don't know that). 2) Denon Bluetooth Receiver RCD-N10 $400 US. This has many attractive features, but my focus is not on the Wireless features and streaming. So this being the one that attracts me the most, if you know of one with a similar one but that DOES NOT have Bluetooth and Streaming, it would be much better because it would save me money. 3) Marantz CD6007 $600. But it is out of my budget, since it is possible that it does not exceed $400. 4) Denon DCD-900NE $500. Do you have a better suggestion for what I'm looking for and what I'm counting on? Thank you so much.

    Hi my fellow Welshman , I was wondering weather you could help me with a few things. I have the Marantz CD6007 paired with a Pioneer Integrated Amplifier A-10 with some Wharfdale Dimond 220 speakers. Should my CD player sound best when I have the "Direct" button on the amplifier switched on or off? I get a volume drop and the sound is a lot more treble high. The sound seems to get wider and more balanced when I turn "direct" on the amp off. When am I using The CD players DAC , when " direct " is on or off on the amp? Witch is meant to sound better? Do you think It would be worth me getting the PM6007 ? Also at the moment I'm not using the coaxial input or optical , just running the cables from the Marantz CD player's audio out into the SACD/CD input on my amp... ? Witch way of wiring it up will sound best ? Is OPTICAL/ DIGITAL better? Is The volume drop and less depth of sound when I have "direct" turned on , on my amp the sound of the DAC on the Marantz CD player. So sorry for all the questions , it's just I've spent a while saving to get a good set up for my CD's and Vinyl...I'm getting the CD part done first , but would also be interested in your view on how good the phono stage on the Marantz MP6007 is for the price. Thankyou so much if you can help me. I would also be willing to give you my phone number if it would be easier to speak. Thankyou so much for the great channel , I subbed too 😉

    • @UTILITARIANTVUK
      @UTILITARIANTVUK  Před 6 měsíci

      All the direct button does is bypass the tone controls. Sometimes it sounds better, sometime it doesn't, there's no right or wrong here. If it sounds better to you without the direct mode engaged, then keep it off.
      I believe that the A-10 is analogue only, meaning, it doesn't have any digital inputs and therefore, no DAC. When connecting to an amplifier with RCA cables, you will be using the DAC in the CD player. When you use a coaxial or optical lead, you are bypassing the internal DAC of the CD player. Which way of wiring depends on the DAC of each component. If you had a PM6007 amp, you probably wouldn't hear a difference between RCA or coaxial. This is because the CD6007 and PM6007 have the same DAC.
      The phono stage in the PM6007 is not too bad, however, I would recommend using the money to buy an external phono stage. The Schiit Mani 2 would sound cleaner and punchier than the built in phono stage of the PM6007 and the Pioneer A-10.

    Through my JBL monitors, I would say the Yamaha had a bit more air at the top end and was cooler sounding, and the Marantz had a touch more weight and warmth. A lot would depend on the amp and speaker pairing and what your personal preferences were, rather than one being better than the other. Personally I liked the Marantz as I like just a slight touch on the warm side rather than cool and lean. Both are great for the money and I would not be unhappy with either of them. Find an old iPod 📱 or iPhone 📲 with as much internal memory as you can (not an iPad, draws too much current), and there you have a digital server/streamer with wired multiroom capability. Hook up the apple device, press CD/USB on the device or the remote, and you get a CD and a 2-lane transport to three different systems at a time. Analog output runs to my Integrated amp in the living, s/p-dif coax to an high-end DAC/Headphone Amp hooked up to monitors on my desktop, and Tosllink to my bedroom further away to a dirt chip SMSL DA-9. I can thus play my 💿, and stream music from Qobuz, Deezer etc, as well as internet radios or just about any app making a sound, instead of relying on HEOS, MuiscCast or BlueOs. No endless waiting for proprietary « connect » apps or Hi-Fi brand firmware/apps end of support, no noticeable latency issue, not even a need for WiFi if you share a connection with another phone of your choice or any 3g/4g/5g system. And get an extra one in case your CD-S300 gets broken (or look for similar « made for iPhone /iPod/iPad » gear. People buy these things and complain a lot about how they are dead on arrival, they skip, they stop working in a very short time, etc. Nobody seems to care.
    30 years ago in the 90s CD players were built to last.
    Now you pay a lot of money for flimsy, low quality products.
    Even the information about the products is misleading.
    Buying a CD player nowadays is more expensive than buying a LP turntable.
    People ends up buying a DVD player and use it to play CDs even knowing it won't last for the same reasons described above.

      I mean it’s the same in theory as a cd…you pass digital audio signals through a DAC and amplifier to drive high fidelity speakers

    • @ehe-uk
      @ehe-uk Před 5 měsíci +2

      Because of the quality of the DACs and the output stage of the player, maybe?

    Man, you have all kinds of sounds as effects on the video and these sounds are way too loud and I listen in headphones. I get the right volume to hear your voice but then between the chapters you put those sound effects and you hurt my ears. Please turn off the volume of the effects or even get rid of them. Thank you!

    Уamaha is better, sounds more natural, Marantz is hiding a lot of sounds.

      Don't bullshit, all CD players sound absolutely the same, even DVD players would sound 100% same! You are a marketing victim.

    your system is not reviling. at home I have 30 cd players can tell a big difference be twine every one using 6 bose 901s at 2400 watts but at a low nice sound output

    • @UTILITARIANTVUK
      @UTILITARIANTVUK  Před rokem +1

      There will be a difference due to the different sound signatures of the internal DACs. In my experience, when I've used an external DAC, there's little to no difference in sound.

    You really think people can play a low res Y.T feed and hear the difference between 2 closely matched CD players being played in your living room?!
    Really!??
    It's hard enough live in the room if they're close, but leaving the decision to people to decide via a totally unreliable medium on totally different set ups?
    Anyone thinking they can accurately tell the difference in this way is full of 💩, as is anyone suggesting they could or should!
