They cry when mentioning his memory after 40 years. I don’t think their attachment to him is healthy. Live and learn to let go. Everyone has lost a family member but that’s no reason to become a fucking degenerate.
*_Edit (4 Years later lol):_*_ Thought I’d give this comment a update, since people are still replying to me. While I think the underlying argument of original comment still has some merit, I was definitely too insensitive. Lol_
_Ive gained some more perspective on mental health over the years, so my annoyance of the situation has mostly turned to sympathy._

It's depression. They know it doesn't add any value but they have no willpower to clean it up. They probably feel extreme shame and self hatred but at the same time depression gives you a weird denial of the situation. If you start to clean one thing then you are forced to acknowledge the entire reality of the situation and it's just too painful and can even push some people to suicide. Depression is really a bitch.

I know a hoarder personally and she says the reason she keeps stuff like that is because she gets scared to throw things away so for instants if she had a McDonald’s cup she would say something like “ I can’t throw that away, what if I loose all my dishes, I would need that” I think hoarders are more scared of the future and uncertainty than just purposefully keeping things. For them they may subconsciously think, “I lost my brother and I didn’t hold on to him and keep him close when I had him so I’m going to do it to everything else.” If that makes any sense at all.

It’s sickening that these twins’ parents didn’t properly teach their girls how to cope with a tragic loss like Donnie. Instead of viewing Donnie’s death as a tragedy, the parents should have coached the girls on how to deal with grief in each stage properly. 100% of the blame goes on the parents. These twins were only adolescents and it’s obvious they have no coping skills.

My grandpa is a hoarder. That's the reason my grandma left him years ago. It started out with just the garage. That was the only space my grandma allowed him to store his pointless things he'd collect over the years. And it just gradually got worse and worse, & eventually made its way into the home they lived in together. It was a BEAUTIFUL 2 story Barbie doll looking house. Such a good looking house, both inside and out. And my grandpa completely destroyed it with his hoarding. He didn't think that he had a problem, he just was a collector of older items that most people would see as useless or pointless. But in his eyes, it had so much history and every item he had, had its own story to tell. My grandma couldn't take it anymore, her home wasn't hers anymore. We couldn't even hardly walk in there. There was just a tiny narrow isle throughout the whole house that you could walk thru. That was it, you couldn't sit n the living room n watch tv because there was just crap everywhere. When my grandma left him, he got worse with it and then he started dating again. He's now remarried to a wonderful woman, who I absolutely adore. She's helped him overcome his hoarding problem and helped clean the house up and he hasn't hoarded ever since. The house is back to looking like a house and not a junkyard again. I'm really happy my gpa got over his problem and has someone who believes in him and helps him everyday with it. ❤️

Mainly because i got paranoia when I took in second hand couches from my aunt, I began to have roaches and bed bugs appear and lost every piece of furniture and clothing I ever owned. Watching this made me check my beds and stuff 5 minutes of the day instead of once a day. Believe it or not.

Though it is true that they have problems with their speech, ALL hoarders have deeper challenges and underlying issues which lead to their hoarding. These women are no different in that aspect.

Why not give the food of obese people to starving people? Because they didn't buy it. Marx had ideas to solve this but it seems like the USA didn't like them...

I lost my sister suddenly like they lost their brother and I can say that it does leave a giant hole in your heart because you don't get closure. They chose to fill their hole with stuff, it seems crazy to people who don't know the pain but I get it. I hope they get better.

Such a sad story about their brother!! But the kitty standing looking at the camera was too cute!! They should clean it up for their beautiful kitty, and more importantly for each other. No matter the situation. They've always got each other!!!
