Quick edit!
When I discussed “sealing the chamber”, I meant more so that Dumbledore simply shut the door to the chamber behind him. This would align with Ron having to speak Parseltongue in Deathly Hallows!
Appreciate those that called it out. I hope this clears up the confusion! My bad on the commentary!
How did dumbledor get in the chamber?
Harry and Ron told him where it was located and he probably navigated down to it with Newt from there.
But how would he actually get in, if he isn't a parcel mouth ?
The Chamber would still be open from Ron, Harry, Ginny, and Lockhart leaving
But like…genuinely, why wouldn’t Dumbledore contact Newt right away in Chamber of Secrets. I know everyone had that whole “Oh well we don’t know what’s down there” cop out. But they all knew there was a “monster”. They say as much in the book/film. Surely if students were being attacked, Newt would have dropped everything to check it out. I just don’t really see him dragging his feet. Unless we want to get into Dumbledore’s negligence and failings as a Headmaster, but that’s a different can of worms entirely.
I always assumed he was there to consult about the magical beasts they were planning to use in the triwizard tournament the following year.
That’s an awesome theory! I never thought of that! I could totally see them using his expertise to ensure the students didn’t get hurt.
@@TheWizardingCo Yes and considering the number of magical beasts used in the tournament and the timing of his visit.
I know charlie weasley was consulted regarding the dragons and that dumbledore spoke with the merpeople, but that still leaves the sphinx, acromantulas, blast-ended skrewts, boggarts etc.
It would be strange not to consult the worlds leading magizoologist!
I love this so much. I'm starting to lean toward this being my favorite theory because they would've started prep on the Triwizard Tournament months in advance, which would align with Newt coming in much earlier to be discuss the possibility of overseeing that.
Great theory
Really great!
Newt has so much potential, and we didn't even get to see that. I like to think that in order to save beast, he uses his real power
I definitely feel that Newt got shafted :(
Fantastic Beasts was a great set of movies. Not well executed, but great ideas.
@@TheWizardingCo Imo they should've made 1-2 fantastic beast movies just about newt and magical beasts from around the world, that way they could've introduced other countries wizardry that's unique to them as well as many magical beasts
Naming it fantastic Beasts and the main story revolving around grindelwald kinda ruins it for me
Exactly! Ease the community into it and make offshoot movies to explore further.
WHEN I WAS WATCHING THE MOVIES I SWEAR I SAW HIM ON THE MAP
Newt: Basilisk can't be domesticated
Salazar: Hold my chicken egg
Hahahaha this is wonderful!
Newt could have been there for any/all of those reasons, but i would like to think Dumbledore would also use Newt to appeal to Hagrid to use more discretion in planning his lessons by using someone Hagrid would look up to. Not that it worked judging by the crossbreeding experiment the Blast Ended Skrewt the next year.
That’s not a bad one either. I like to think Newt and Hagrid knew of each other and Hagrid was a big fan. Dumbledore would certainly look out for Hagrid in a loving way, so bringing in Newt to soften the blow would make a lot of sense.
Another name on the map at the same time is Lara Blishen. Someone named Y. Blishen worked at MACUSA with Tina Goldstien in the permit office after her demotion. So he really could just be visiting a family friend. The cool part is this would mean that Rowling was planning the Fantastic Beasts connection even back then which is nuts.
I didn’t know that! I guess I’ll need to dig into that one more! Thanks for the heads up :)
Newt would be around his 90s in age by the time of Harry Potter so if he was still wandering the world saving animals at that age he's pretty fit
Witches and wizards do have a longer lifespan, usually ~140, so he’d have some time left!
Yeah but Dumbledore was a over 100 I’m pretty sure the average wizard age is like 150 or something
It’s around ~140 overall. Dumbledore would’ve been around 111 years old.

🏰
You realise that although Harry Potter was 13 years old at this point on the other hand Newt Scamander was 96 years old.
I do and it’s canon that witches and wizards live to be ~145 years old, so he’d still have around ~45 years left. Idk about you, but I’ve seen some 40-60 year olds in real life do some things that people in their 20s couldn’t!
good content didnt notice til after 3 videos this channel was still brand new, youve earned yourself another sub
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the content! 😃
They could've done a fantastic beasts trilogy and a dumbledore trilogy, would've liked to watch Newt just bound around collecting magical creatures
Agreed 100%
I loved the Fantastic Beasts films, but it didn’t know what it wanted to be. It was either a very serious prequel or a somewhat funny look into Newt’s world. It didn’t do either as good as it could’ve been!
Fantastic Beasts was their try to see if they could pull something that was not linked directly to Hogwarts school of wizards. They wanted to flesh out the idea that there was a whole world outside the school. That was their idea. It was not bad, it was just not as interesting as Hogwarts because the whole idea of going to as school of wizard is something that at the same time as it's a fantasy, it also has a realism to it such as relating to our own real world where we need to go to school to learn things before we turn into adults.
Yep, exactly. I honestly really enjoy it and how it opened the world of the NA Wizarding community. But it was executed pretty badly and just doesn’t have that hold that the other movies did. If it was built around a specific character (i.e. Dumbledore, Marauders, Snape) I think it could’ve worked better.
This was a dope video and I can totally get behind it and the reasoning. 😎
Thank you! It was fun theorizing it! Glad you enjoyed the video!
1:02 I would like to point out that that before Tom Riddle and a possessed Ginny, past members of the Gaunt family may have opened the Chamber of Secrets. It was stated the most recent opening of the Chamber before the 2nd movie was opened in 1943, but not the only time it was opened.
Chronically, the 1943 opening was the first to open the chamber, but I’m also with you that there’s no way there wasn’t another time!
@@TheWizardingCo There was one where someone from the Gaunt family changed the plumbing and made the snake engraved opening
I actually talk about that here!
czcams.com/video/XgxzyByoZM0/video.html
Corvinus Gaunt really kept the Chamber alive!
Theory 3: Dumbledore couldn’t have officially sealed off he chamber, because Ron and Hermione wouldn’t have been able to enter during the Deathly Hallows
Plus how would they have gotten in?
Two good points, but Dumbledore could’ve shut the Chamber like I talked about and then that would back up why Ron had to speak Parseltongue to get back into the Chamber to get the basilisks fangs.
As for getting in, the door would’ve been technically open still from when Harry, Ron, Lockhart, and Ginny left.
Not sure if the reply to Tyler links to yours, but I thought on that and when I meant sealed, it was more closing the door to the entrance. Dumbledore would’ve assumed no other student would know Parseltongue. So it backs up why Ron would have to speak Parseltongue to get in during Deathly Hallows.
@@TheWizardingCoRon says Harry you sleep talk a lot , so I happened to learn snake talk 💀
I know, it’s such a bad way to allow him access again
Two other theories:
It was a different "Newt Scamander", perhaps one of his grandchildren or something like that.
He was there to meet Hagrid so he could sign a copy of his book in hopes Hagrid would stop sending an owl every day to beg for his autograph. To his shock, Hagrid now writes twice a day to thank him.
Hahaha I love that Hagrid theory! That’s awesome!
Ducking beautiful mate. And I can only imagine Newt would visit at least once a year just to find the intricacies a half giant would have on creatures not only from their size but from their status amongst beasts.
@@versecontro4898 That would be a very difficult one, but also a really cool story to explore. I could TOTALLY see Newt doing that to gain more experience.
I love that theory.
Same! It’s so good!
I actually never thought of that, great video!
Thanks, Simona! It was fun theorizing on an Easter egg like this!
@@TheWizardingCo You really have theories and Easter eggs I've never seen elsewhere. It's refreshing
I appreciate that so much! Thank you! I can’t take all the credit, but it’s been fun leveraging some knowledge from over the years!
@@TheWizardingCo You don't need to worry about the credit, in my opinion. The most important thing is that you deliver your knowledge to us.
Well I appreciate that a lot and I’ll definitely continue it!
Interesting video :) Newt is my favorite character
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
I personally love Newt and the Fantastic Beasts series. It’s a little wonky in places but very enjoyable!
My wild idea is Newt originally went to help with the case for Buckbeak to give advice and help show that Draco was just being an idiot. While there Dumbledore asks about dragons due to the tri wizards tournament was coming next year and help prepped it.
While there it turns out there was a Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets and Newt asked if he could study the dead body for his research and his books, after it was done Newt then asked if he could publish the Fantastic beast as a fictional book for the muggles and Dumbledore approved it so he finally went off to do that.
Its a very wild idea but for the HP universe its crazy enough that it might have happened. 🤣
Agreed! I love the idea of him as a consultant to the Triwizard Tournament. Didn’t think about that until someone brought it up and I thought that was genius.
Also, it may be that if he "sealed it", that magic may have died with him, thus making it possible for Ron and Hermione to enter.
I LOVE THIS! I know I made a slight error with the wording on that (which required the pinned comment), but that makes a lot of sense too!
Nice work 👍
Thank you!
a theory i’ve heard is that he’s a ghost on the map. i can’t remember the full theory but that he’s at hogwarts as a ghost and maybe he’s still studying magical creatures.
i really like that one as well.
but i have to say my favourite one is that he’s studying the basalisc, being there for buckbeek and talking to dumbledoor.
but it’s fun to think about all other reasons he could have been there.
i also like to think that he could be there and have lectures, like he gets invited to talk about magical creatures from time to time not hired as a teacher. since i think he can dive deeper into the specifics, since it’s his profession, then what the teachers hired at the schools. idk i think that be pretty cool :)
I’ve heard the ghost theory as well! I think it’s canon though that he’s still alive at that time. But Fantastic Beasts (movie) wasn’t out when Prisoner of Azkaban was released, so I think the timeline gets a bit funky!
I love the basilisk theory the most as well! Alternately, having him come in as a special lecturer would also be pretty awesome! Didn’t think of that, but maybe Hagrid had asked him to come because Hagrid really liked to add some flair to his classes? I could totally see him reaching out to Newt to speak in a class!
Really appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoyed!
Theory I think is that he is still alive from 1897 as wizards can stay alive until whenever they choose to die. On his chocolate frog card it said “Newt Scamander 1897-present” I think that he was on his way to talk to Dumbledore about something really serious as his footsteps were near Dumbledores office entrance.
Exactly! That’s what I’m thinking!
@@TheWizardingCo yeah same. But it was never shown what they were talking about. I wonder what it was about. And how come we never seen him in the battle of Hogwarts.
@@antiromantic618 Truthfully, witches and wizards have a lifespan of about 145 years. So Newt was more than likely off the grounds doing something elsewhere and maybe heard about it after the fact.
@@TheWizardingCo ah yeah that can also be the case. Well i hope Jk Rowling can reveal something in the future about the mystery
Not whenever they choose to die, but wizards average age of dying is 150, compared to our 83 years, so Newt would be like a 100 to 110 years old.
Maybe he just wanted to chill there , old man in a lawn chair sipping on orange juice relaxing “ahhhh”
What a vision haha! Up in the Astronomy Tower like “what a life”
@@TheWizardingCo indeed ! “Ooo that feels better” relaxing all cool 😎
I can totally see this as canon 😂
A theory I just thought of was that he had knowledge of there being a werewolf near or in hog warts campus and he was there to investigate it.
I’ve heard a similar one where he talked to Dumbledore about Lupin being there. He was the one who made the Werewolf Registry, so they possibly tapped him to watch over Lupin.
Theory one:
Parseltongue to get in (Yes Ron manages but he had 6 years of a sleeptalking harry having Voldemort creeping in beside his bed)
Ron gets in during the Battle of Hogwarts, so no Dumbledore can't have sealed it
By seal, I mean moreso that he'd shut the chamber door, which would coincide with Ron having to speak Parseltongue to get in.
You said after Dumbledore and newt left the chamber that Dumbledore would have sealed up the chamber after they left but we know this to not be true bc Ron and Hermione had no trouble at all going back down into the chamber to retrieve the basilisk fang years later after the basilisk is nothing more then a skeleton, if newt was gonna study the body of the basilisk he would have done it right after the events in chamber of secrets so the body would still have been fresh
By sealing up, I meant that the door would be closed, which would align with Ron having to speak Parseltongue to get in during Deathly Hallows.
As far as the timeline, totally agree on that. It’s definitely a hole, as he’d probably need to study it quickly and Dumbledore wouldn’t have left the chamber open to let him go in 6 months later.
I like your theory! I was thinking maybe Newt Scamander did help Buckbeak and because he was so shy. He could have been wary that Harry was around so he'd purposely hide to be seen. I just realized there is Newt Scamander in maps.
I like that add on as well! It totally could be that as he tends to be by himself most times!
this theory is amazing that part when he rides buckbeak is one of my favourite in any movies in the franchise such a great moment
It is! The visuals were incredible!
Its possible that the only way that Dumbledore could have lupin in a job was with newt onsite as a countermeasure . the ministry after all knew lupin's secret , it was when that info went fully public and the parents found out that he had to leave . he could of also been acquiring the ingredients for wolfsbane.
I like this theory! He is the creator of the Werewolf Registry 🤔
This was I always thought. But rather Dumbledore asking it might have been imposed by the MoM that Newt be there as a safe gaurd. MoM (under influence of Malloy) was all up on trying to control and or sack Dumbledore as headmaster the whole series.
That’s true, but I don’t think Newt would betray his friend! But it would explain why he’d be there because the MoM *thinks* Newt would rat out Albus, when in reality he wouldn’t.
@The Wizarding Co. Yea exactly. Albus tends to get his ministry friends to be posted every time. And that would explain in Order of the Phoenix, why Umbridge was finally posted. She had undoubtedly loyal ties to MoM and not Albus. It would be 4 failures due to personal ties.
That’s TRUE! Great point! I didn’t even think about that.
Maybe he was going to visit his grandson Rolf🤔
That was another one I saw! I felt like that one lacked a bit of substance though.
But fun fact, Rolf marries Luna Lovegood down the road!
Newt is so goated. Honestly the coolest Harry Potter character
We stan Newt!
True so true
2nd coolest cuz... Snape is ALWAYS on the top
@@soniapurba9349 We do love Snape, but if I'm being honest...gotta hand it to the boy...Jacob Kowalski!
That's why Dumbledore trusted him so much!
As confirmed in goblet of fire the map doesn't note the difference between two family members who share a name. It also seems to only use the most commonly used name rather then the full name. Eg. Harry Potter rather then Harry James Potter.
So isn't it more likely to be one of Newt's descendants who shares his name. Could even be his brothers grand kid who was named in honour of Newt.
Possibly could be that! But Newts grandsons and relatives didn’t take the name Newt. But who knows?!
@@TheWizardingCo Newton James "Newt" Scamander :D
His grandson is actually Rolf Scamander!
The basilisk is a very rare and unique animal in the HP world. A female snake can become pregnant without a male (parthenogenesis)
It's REALLY rare, but possible. Could the Basilisk be pregnant when HP kills it or laid eggs before it dies and Newt comes to examine the newborn basilisks?
That’s a really great point. I’m not sure honestly. I like to think that it was a male basilisk because child basilisks weren’t found in the chamber, but I wouldn’t dismiss it either!
@@TheWizardingCo It's a female for sure. I googled it and i found out that the basilisk really was a female, so i stick in my theory. 😁
Ahh it is! The red plume is for males. That’s crazy!
@@TheWizardingCo Parthenogenesis bro, parthenogenesis. Everyday we learn something new. I saw a document about the parthenogenesis in DiscoveryChannel. And when i saw your video, i thought could it be the reason? :D
Thanks for the vid 👊 A very interesting topic to think about why he was there.
Appreciate all of the information honestly! Glad you enjoyed the video 😃
If dumbledore sealed the chamber like u said then Ron’s parsle tongue for dummies is op
Haha true true! When I said sealed, I more meant that the door would be shut, which would allow the part with Ron speaking parseltongue to still happen.
But that was the weirdest way of explaining how he knew parseltongue! 😂
Btw, how good does the hp2 basilisk hold up, still looks great!
As far as visually? It’s top notch! Some of the best visuals still in 2023!
I really like the theories especially with the basilisk (i love that movie) but how could Dumbledore or Newt get into the chamber let alone exit it without speaking Parsel-mouth?
Thanks, Tommy! Really appreciate the kind words! I made a pinned comment that clears up my explanation of that, but TL;DR is that I meant that the chamber would be open from when Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Lockhart left. Dumbledore would then close it after they viewed the body, which allows Ron to speak Parseltongue to open it again in Deathly Hallows.
3:40 who's wand is that? and where can i buy it?
No idea :/ it was on the graphic. However, I’d check Etsy for wands like this. Some people have ones that are similar or you can actually show this graphic to them and some will custom make it for you!
I believe that New's suitcase may not have and expantion spell but it can be a sort of teleportation spell or a gate in wich he can go from wherever he goes to a secret room in hogwarts only for him and his creatures, and that is why he appears in the map. If it was an expantion spell, things would probably be always a mess inside because he runs and drops the briefcase a bunch. But the place seems to remain always in order dispite of that. So I think the breifcase is a door to the place where the creatures are. I'm probably wrong, I'm sure there are a lot of information on the books about why it isn't so, but It's just fun to think about it.
That’s a good theory! My only question would be “why Hogwarts?”
@@TheWizardingCo Hogwards provides what the students need, like the room of Requirement. Perhaps he found a place he could hide and do his research in secret already when he was a studen, Dubledore I supose found out about it at some point but he just looked the other way because he knew Knewt was a good kid and knew his potential. Most of the people that trust dumbledore believed that there was no safer place than Hogwards, so where else could he trust to leave his creatures and research?
I’d probably link up to my home if I’m being honest lol!
Can't a guy ever stop by at his old stomping grounds once in awhile
Totally! Just not as interesting 😉
I didn’t even know Newt was still alive in the main story tbh, he would be around 100 at that time
He was! He would’ve been 96 around then, but witches and wizards lifespans are around 145 years. So Newt is still doing Newt things around that time.
The only problem with theory 1 is dumbledore didn't seal the chamber.
Ron and Hermione go into it during the 8th movie
Yeah, I took this part out and I’m kicking myself for it. When I meant seal, I simply meant that the door was closed by Dumbledore. Which would align with Ron having to open again with Parseltongue in Deathly Hallows.
Not sure why I took that out when recording!
@@TheWizardingCo ohhhhh
First one is rather unlikely although it does make sense but in the 7th book Ron and Hermionie get down into the chamber to get a fang from the corpse of the basilisk to destroy a horcrux
Right but it connect to that as well! Dumbledore could’ve shut the chamber, with the assumption that no other parselmouth would go down there now that the basilisk was dead. Which explains why Ron had to speak Parseltongue to open it again in Deathly Hallows!
@@TheWizardingCo if dumbledore was able to seal the chamber nobody would be getting back down there. It’s more than likely an Easter egg or additions to his text book, it’s far more likely that dumbledore would rather leave the monster of Slytherin to rot down there
Well that’s why I said it’s just a deep dive into the Easter egg at the beginning 😄
I would love to think he was there to represent Buckbeak in his trial.
Offering a fourth theory he was there delivering potions ingredients for Snape and decided to discuss the matter with Dumbledore
Genuinely curious, why would he be delivering potions ingredients?
I like the Hippogriff one, it should be canon.
Thanks! I agree! We love Buckbeak!
'Why was Newt here?'
Hmmm. I don't know. No obvious reasons. Try me.
'Newt was studying the Basilisk'
Ok Fair enough.
I mean one can hope it’d be an awesome reason like that!
I didn’t know newt was on the map 🗺️
Fun little Easter egg!
Or... the designer of the map animation grabbed a random name from a list of wizards names and put it in there without double checking or thinking too much
Maybe, but that’s not fun
If a new fantastic beasts movie comes out we might get an answer for that..
Or maybe there are some bones or a flask with basilisk venom or something like that hidden in that suitscase from the previous movies
Id love more Fantastic Beasts! But unfortunately, it's been confirmed that they have no active movies in production :( However, rumor has it that a show is coming to HBO Max!
You do realize Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was written in 2001, right? - And that even in the HP1 book in Harry's list of supplies one of his books read, "One copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" - JKR was pretty much planning for the FBWTFT movie..
I’m aware that she wrote it and that it connected to the story of Harry Potter.
Not sure what you’re trying to point out lol
@The Wizarding Co. Um? I'm trying to point out that jkr probably added Newt because it's connected to hp and she wanted the movie to be apart of the series? The screenplay was written after all the books? I don't really think(imo) there's any "theories" about Newt being connected inside the HP universe. Because Newt is set AFTER Harry's time.
Newt is set before Harry’s time. It’s a prequel to the main series.
I can’t speak to the creators thoughts, but I find it a bit difficult to say that she put that in to tease an eventual series down the line.
@@dxrkerrxses You do realize that the Book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is just a book containing valuable information about Magical Creatures, not a story about how Newt helped expose/capture Gellert Grindalwald. The movie is not an adaption but just borrows the title since Newt's the main character. So to say this has been the plan all along is hilarious😂(I love those movies, even though the mass audience hates them)
The movies are slept on hard! But it was a bit messy
Theory 4: this is a student also named Newt Scamander, a Newt Scamander jr/III/IV
I’d love for this to be true! Imagine another Newt in Hogwarts!
Wouldn't the basilisk have rotted away by the Time Newt got to it a year later? Cuz it was killed in 2 but Newt shows up on the map in 3...that would be quite some time for it to be intact
Potentially! Or it would be partially decomposed. As a researcher of all magical beings, I don’t think Newt would turn away the opportunity regardless haha!
Great point regardless!
@@TheWizardingCo I’d expect if that was the case then he would’ve shown up during the holidays or in the days immediately after the basilisk was slain. Doesn’t make sense for him to study it a year on.
Possibly, but there are weirder occurrences in the Wizarding world 🤷
It's kinda impossible that Newt had a teaser back in the day and get a movie now on him... Some thing doesn't fall into place😮😅
Looking at it holistically, there’s no way the author or director were hinting at the Fantastic Beasts movies. But I just like to think of deeper reasons haha!
I just always thought it was his ghost
He wasn’t dead then!
There seems to be 1000 students in different year groups and 5 teachers so why are the classes so small and who teaches things like ancient runes?
Literally had the same thought haha!
for the first one, how would they get in the chamber if you have to speak parcelmouth to enter and harry was nowhere near in that scene
Great job creators of the marauders map James Peter r j lupin and Sirius black🗺️👏
Yep!
Newt very interesting and nice 😊 🤨
He is!
what is also weird is that newt is only 16 years younger than dumbledore and he might have been at the age of 133
Or maybe he just visits Dumbledore for a wholesome cup of tea and they discuss all those matters. They r still friends after all.
True! It’s just not as exciting.
A lot of people in the comments bringing up Parseltongue like Newt wouldn't spend an absurdly long amount of time trying to learn to talk to snakes
Literally could see this haha! The snake is just staring at him like “what did he say?”
I do found the idea of Newt coming to Hogwarts to study the Basilisk does sound very interesting 🤔. And that would be believable because Newt does love magical creatures
They wouldn't have been able to get into the Chamber of Secrets, because you need to be a Parselmouth or able to speak Parseltongue to be able to open it. Ron was able to imitate Harry, but only because he'd heard Harry using Parseltongue in his sleep so often/had been there when Harry used it to open the Chamber.
Look at my pinned comment for clarification on that :)
My theory is he just wqnted to see the creatures there and chill out as old man snazzy i say mr scamander
Not a bad theory! Totally plausible!
I heard he retired so it is odd he would be on the map.
Agreed! I think he was still writing books, but he wasn’t working at that point. Either way, interesting topics definitely came from his inclusion!
I thought it was canon that newt was there for something that had to with delivering a new version of his book?!
It was unfortunately never told!
hmmm so newt grew like 90 and he is still running arround like that we also know that only a few wizards actual grow as old as dumbledore most likely its just a easter egg or a ghost doubt that he would just be there and if he was we would have heard more of newt i guesssince newt is quite famous since the map shows everyone that would include the ghosts
Wizards and witches have a lifespan of ~145 years, so it’s not out of the question that at 90 he’s there.
Ok here are 2 more questions to blow your mind! 1: why is their no footprints showing Newt walking. 2: and the biggest riddle of them all why is the person who's name is under Newt show us 3 times on the map. Assuming it is the same person since the name looks the same and it has the same scroll design in all 3???
I didn’t notice that! Guess I gotta go back and look closer!
director: I need some names on this moving map thing. I don't care what names is on this scene, just get me some names.
JK Rowling: You did what in that scene? For gods sake now I have to write more stories to make it make sense.
I could TOTALLY see this playing out that way haha!
1:35 except it was reopened during Deathly Hallows
Look at my pinned comment 🙂
It's maybe a long shoot, but I would even theorise it's Newt junior......
I’ve never heard of Goethe! How does he fit into the story?
@@TheWizardingCo Sorry, Newt😅 "Gőte" is the hungarian word for newt and I got mixed up with the similar sounding name 😅
So, Newt jr. 😃
Ahh gotcha! It could’ve been! But there wasn’t much about Newt Jr., though I think it’d be an interesting take!
I find it unlikely that Dumbledore knew of the basilisk, he never would of put the students at risk. If Dumbledore somehow found the basilisk below the school before the attacks he would of either sent the students home or killed the basilisk himself. However I don't know how Dumbledore could of entered the chamber as the password was in snake language, Ron was able to mimic it.
He was told of the basilisk after Harry and Ron left with Ginny and Lockhart. You can check my pinned comment for how the theory connects to the fact that Ron had to speak Parseltongue.
@@TheWizardingCo Oh god I feel stupid, I forgot the map was in the third movie not the second one, Dumbledore could have wanted newt to study its corpse. I forgot the map came later.
Haha no you aren’t stupid at all! I totally see where you were coming from.
seems more likely he was there to find out what was in the chamber of secrets instead of dumbledore knowing what was in there
But by 1993, Dumbledore already knew that the chamber was opened, where it was, and that there was a dead basilisk there. So it’d make more sense that Dumbledore would’ve been reaching out, rather than Newt finding out another way.
@@TheWizardingCo ah right always forget the order tho would think newt would have already seen it by the time he gets the map after all it would have been at least 2 months time frame
You are good! Yeah that’s the only hole in the theory…it’s easily like 6 months after the chamber is opened that Newt would show up. Would Dumbledore actually keep it open that long?
@@TheWizardingCo to me the only one that makes sense is the book one since dumbledore knows it is pointless to try to save buckbeak since anyone that has been to hogwarts should know about hippogriffs to begin with so they have obviously been bribed
@@jakexx2 I could see that, but I also think that it would be in Newt's nature to help, if Dumbledore had reached out. Esepcially given the circumstances.
Didn't u need parsletongue to enter the chamber?
See my pinned comment on the clarification.
The 3rd theory sounds about right
Thanks, Kyle! I liked that one the most of all the ones. It just makes sense in my opinion :)
Hope you enjoyed the video!
Newt would've been there in azkaban because wasn't hagrid puy there in that movie, so I think scamander took care of the magical creatures whilst hagrid was preoccupied with that
Professor Grubbly-Plank was actually appointed to be Hagrid’s temporary replacement
He was pretty close to dumbledor
Yeah, but that’s not as fun!
I wonder were newt is now he gotta be in his 90s by now long time long long time
He’s probably deceased or relaxing with his wife in his final years!
I think that maybe dumbledore asked newt to meet with hagrid after the buckbeak accident to explain to hagrid that he needs to be careful when planning his lessons and show hadgrid less dangerous magical beasts to teach the students knowing that hagrid would listen to newts every word and advice because he loves magical beasts to and will of probably read newts book loads😂
i have that book the red one lmao. Scholastic fair
I read that one first in middle school, but own a different one now!
@@TheWizardingCo I have both the red and green beast ones i'm gonna pick up the thicker quidditch though the ages and there's 4 newer unofficial books i want that are spells beastery character compendium and the history of Hogwarts. I'm also going to get the warner brothers caster wand i want the honorable one.
@@TheWizardingCo I just went and rebought the whole first 7 book set from the philosopher's stone to deathly hollows, forgot how good the books were i;m 34 i read them when i was like 10. lol and i only got to the prisoner of azakaban.
I was looking at those wands! They look awesome!
Honestly, why couldn't it be all of the above? he wants Albus to write a foreword for his book, Albus coincidently is like "hey, we got a basilisk dead in some secret chamber one of the founders built, wanna see it up close?" Newt obviously acting like a giddy little girl at the prospect wants to come see it, thinking he'll kill two birds with one stone, THEN the buckbeak situation happens, perfect, hes got a third reason to attend now, he can get the foreword, investigate the basilisk & help save buckbeak on top of which he might partake in some lessons for the week hes staying at Hogwarts.
It.All.Makes.Perfect.Sense.
I’m totally on board for this! I think it’s a little hard with the timing, because Dumbledore wouldn’t leave an open chamber for 8 months, but everything else makes perfect sense!
Malfoy was not that badly injured. He was faking it. 😂
He got pretty hurt, but he did embellish it so the Ministry would take action.
Y didn’t anyone else see him on the map 🗺️
Harry was the only one that really focused on the map.
Probably just wandering around with Jacob
Really wish we got the final word if Jacob had some magical tendencies in him that was missed, or that came out after the events with Newt.
@@TheWizardingCo he was given a snakewood wand, a rare wand by Dumbledore afterall 😂
Very true! But it never was shown to do anything. I just want Jacob to stick in the Wizarding world!
@@TheWizardingCo doubt if there's a new Fantastic Beast movie because how awful the last one
Another possibility, great grand kid. Of him or his brother.
True, but it just doesn’t have the flair of why Newt would be there. Could I see him visiting, totally. But to study magical beasts, 100%
@@TheWizardingCo he could be a student.
Why doesn't anybody discus the fact dumbledore has a phoenix? Why couldn't newt be there to studie fawks. Hey was getting older. Maybe hey studies fawks cycle
Never heard that one! That’s not a bad theory!
Newt awesome 👏
We stan Newt!
Newt would also be pretty old by then.
He would’ve 100% but only 96!
Maybe man was just visiting lol
Totally could be. Probably is. I just like to theorize something deeper haha!
@@TheWizardingCo Nah your theory makes complete sense, Newt definitely wouldn't stand by as a beast is wrongfully convicted to death plus he is friends with dumbledore so regardless I'm sure dumbledore may have needed newts insight into magical beasts for any number of reasons.
Yeah it’s full of a couple holes, but makes it more interesting!
The fact it says newt sold 52 versions of the book just feels like a scam 🤣🤣🤣
Would you say it was a "Scam-ander"?
I'm so sorry...it's late here.
1:00 There's a guy in the newspapers of Hogwarts Legacy that ''accidentally'' has a basilisk in his backyard.
Yeah I saw that! I think it’s a silly nod to that, but a funny find!
bruuuh and i just casually threw myself into the lake in hogwart legacy
It means you have no fear!
His ghost?
Unpopular theory Newt changed his ways bulked up and became the executioner lol
Oof that’s something else
Newt was born in 1897 wich means he would have 96 years
Yep, and the average lifespan of a witch or wizard is ~145
@@TheWizardingCo yeah and i ain't telling everyone that he could be there. I just told so people can have a viev of Newt how he look for example.
Ahh gotcha!
Fact #1 can't be true, if Dumbledore had locked the Chamber of Secrets Ron and Hermione wouldn't have been able to get into the 7th book to take a basilisk tooth to destroy Horcruxes
The whole going into the chamber, "They would need a Parseltongue to get in."
Or someone who learned parseltongue (i.e. Ron).
It’s TECHNICALLY open still from when Ron, Harry, Ginny, and Lockhart left with Fawkes. So they could go in and then Dumbledore would close the door on the way out.
It could be that, but I doubt Ron or Harry would be tapped to go into the Chamber again. I assume it was still open from the last time when they left. So Dumbledore would just move the sink and get into the chamber like that. Or they could know where the Chamber is and create another way down too.
Right but that’s to disguise the entrance. A powerful wizard like Dumbledore wouldn’t let a mechanism or spell stop him from getting to that part. He could probably blow it apart and Repairo the sink if he wanted.
@@TheWizardingCo : Doesn't work that way, even though it was never mentioned i'm willing to bet there are Parselwards set up, so even "If You blow up the entrance in the woman's bathroom the wards on the lower chamber would lock down tighter than Fort Knox. It was set up as a last line of defense in case of invasion.
With the points you've mentioned I would say all 3 could have been true.
Thank you! It’s fun to theorize on them 😄
Deep gashes??? Barley left a scratch you mean!
I mean...I always assumed it was a decent enough injury to warrant a Hippogriff getting killed!
Newt was born in 97, 1987. Azkaban was in 93 I think? My dood is 96 years old.
He was 96 in 1993. Witches and Wizards have an average lifespan of 145 years!
@@TheWizardingCoooooooooweeeee
He would have a granddaughter at hogwarts at the time too, maybe he was also there to talk to her...
I think it was grandson, but still really relevant!
Fun fact is his grandson marries Luna!
@@TheWizardingCo your right 😊
I’m usually wrong haha! But I still like your theory!
2:26 Beautiful family photo
Thanks 😊
