Heilung would be a fun one. Music videos are so good, the live performances are sick too. All the instruments are like skin drums and rattles, stuff from Viking era, bronze and Iron Age.
Yes great choice❤
Heilung are brilliant, yes 😊
I saw eivør live with Heilung. Her Voice is going thruh steel, she's Astonishing. And Heilung just Blew my Mind, that's not''just" a Concert anymore
They are brilliant ❤
That would have been amazing I'm happy you got to witness that
she is a classical trained sopran and owns a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques.
Her "beatboxing" is the Scandinvian version of throat singing, we share alot of musical heritage from central Asia. Both our instruments and the throat singing goes thousands of years back and we can trace its origins back to as far away as Mongolia. Its tribal allright :)
I read somewhere she learned that from inuit women
Eivør singing "Falling free",
is one of the best and most beautiful songs I've ever heard besides Dimashes performances. With a full band. On a concert. And man, she knows how to handle a guitar 🎸. Seriously!! I mean it. It's Eivør at her best. Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

Falling free, the live version is mindbogglingly good
@@frosty6960 👆 This right here is 100% on point. That live performance is _absolutely_ jaw-dropping. One of the few times I've felt genuinely honored to have experienced a performance - _and I wasn't even there._
I love Eivor! She’s amazing. 100% a genre bender on par with Ren in talent and creativity. She’s from the Faroe Islands, iirc, and the song is a traditional song in Faroese about a wizard and being spellbound. Shout out to Anthony Ray for turning you on to her.
You are correct, us Icelanders do claim her a bit because she's lived here ❤❤
Aurora too! I was imagine a duo with Ren and these girls... ❤
Falling free live from Eivor is also mind blowing vocally
I love "Salt" from her, favourit song
Lyrics:
("Troll-bound"= like how we would use the word "spellbound" in English.)
Trollbound am I am I
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg
Wizard stuck me stuck me
Galdramaður festi meg festi meg
Trollbound deep in my soul in my soul
Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál
In the heart burns a burning bonfire a burning bonfire
Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál
Trollbound am I am I
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg
Wizard stuck me stuck me
Galdramaður festi meg festi meg
Troll-bound into the root of the heart into the root of the heart
Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót
My eye was fixed on where the wizard was standing
Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaður stóð
Thank you Cara!
❤
Thank you for the lyrics and translation! I understood parts of it when listening, but not all (I'm Swedish).
@@LasseEricsson-xs6pf Same for me, too. German. A lot of languages are related. Knowing a bit of latin I can compare some words even with that.
Eivør is from the Faroe Islands - a group of volcanic islands about half way between Iceland and Scotland, and with a total population of just over 50,000. The islands are part of the Kingdom of Denmark. She is an incredible vocalist and sings in both Faroese and English. She provides all the background singing and tribal vocalisations to the Netflix Viking drama series ‘The Last Kingdom’. For one of the truly great live performances of all time please do try ‘Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theatre in Torshavn)’. She sings that one in English.
She is Faroese, and the concert is in Sognefjorden in Norway.
I really would like to see your reaction to Aurora's live performance of "Murder Song (5 4 3 2 1)", done in 2015. If this doesn't break your heart, you're not human.
I agree with this one 💯💯💯
@@Yraha Or Heilung's "Krigsgaldr"... or much stuff by Wardruna - what is much more folkroristic.
@@thomasmeyer8798 yes! Love Heilung!
No Arora is pop. Let's get more from Eivør. Much more. Eivør's voice is fantastic and much more fascinating than Arora's. Arora is cute and has nice videos. Eivør is totally unique.
She's from the Faroe Islands, but us Icelanders claim her as ours as well, as she lived/lives here. Faroese is very close to Icelandic language 🇮🇸 🇫🇴
The linguistic similarities between Icelandic and Faroese are striking, with both languages sharing common features. However, it's worth noting that the phonetics of Faroese align more closely with Norwegian than Icelandic
@Fomaster in writing, Faroese is a lot closer to Icelandic than Norwegian. The further north in Norway you go, you'd find it pretty easy to understand Norwegian if you spoke only Icelandic. I've managed to read whole books in Norwegian without ever learning the language, I'm Icelandic. But listening would take some practice.
Ain't we all Norse
Sorry, you can’t have her 😎
Her "throat singing", what BP called beat boxing, is inspired by inuit throat singing that inuit women often do in duette form in a kind of "battle". They use a totally different technique then lets say Mongolian throat singers, and one thing is that they also do it on the breath in.
If you want to hear more of that search for "Tanya Tagaq" or just "Inuit throat singing" here on YT. It is a rabbit hole...
This was filmed on the west coast in Norway. NRK is the national broadcaster in Norway kinda like the BBC in the UK. And as many others have commented she is from the Faroe Islands
The lyrics are
Spellbound
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul
In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root
My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood
Eivor is a goddess so glad you found her, she’s got a huge following in Europe 🎉
Lyrics:
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul
In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root
My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood
I VOR Pauls-daughter. Would be a close pronunciation.
One earth, one people.
You are right the motherearth speaks through her and others. I refer to her as one of the great singing goddesses of the northern wind.
She will blow your mind.
Eivor is from Færøyene, the setting is Sogn & Fjordane in western Norway- what you see is Sognefjorden - and the band is Vamp from Haugesund Norway. And you are right- music is a common language all around the World. Eyvor is amazing!
Roughly pronounced IVOR PAULSDAUTEER. It's ancient Norse folk music. Her vocal skills are absolutely STUNNING....
Her skills in modulating her voice are outstanding and beyond most people's ability.
Probably the most distant style of music from Rap that there is lolz
Vikings were the first Europeans to visit America. So they might've inspired eachother in music. You also hear this in Sami music/singing. The Sami people live in the most North part of Europe in Lapland. Eivor also did the theme song of a series called The Last Kingdom. That song is also worth it to check out.
No they weren't prince madoc was the first with the cymru to arrive in America the welsh coalbren alphabet is all over the place
@@jackieroberts7895 Leif Erikson *the viking(... made settlement in North America before Madoc's grandfather (Gruffydd ) was born.
More!
Falling Free live (Old Theater Torshavn) from her is also absolutely incredible.
Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theatre in Torshavn)’. She sings that one in English.
Love her music in the Last Kingdom. Makes the show even better
Great reaction. You definitely need to react to Eivør singing ‘Falling Free’ live 😊
You're an absolute legend for this one. I never thought for a moment that I would see you react to this. Props! She is an amazing artist.
Nice to see how the power of music unites... Eivor is a one-of-a-kind gem.. last summer, I visited her home town Syðrugøta, a small serene and quiet place nestled in the many fjords of the Faroe Isles. It was gorgeous as with everywhere on the 7 or so islands located there. Her family still lives there, but I think some of her sisters have relocated elsewhere like her. She's now living in Copenhagen with her husband, former bandmate. She loved doing live podcasts chatting with her fans and doing improv performances (esp. during lockdown).. perhaps you can catch her doing it some time soon ;)
(I found this by searching 'Traditional Nordic Folk Music' in YT) - I'm glad AR put you onto this, I originally sent it to him because I just love traditional Nordic music, it hits me in the feels! Glad you enjoyed it too, it really is soul healing music
I’m here for Eivør! 💯🔥
Eivor's Faroese vocals are haunting, Medieval, mystical and beautiful.......her range is matched by the emotion and intensity in the music she sings........Diva.......
I really love this sound.
Scandinavian
Native American
And African tribal music have always spoken very deeply to me.
The beauty of it amazes me.
I love this reaction so much.
OH, I AM TOO EXCITED TO WATCH YOUR REACTION TO EIVØR! ❤ HER!
I’m glad that you have found the great and unique Eivør singing in Faroese.
I've recently found myself listening to a lot of Norwegian/Scandinavian music (she's from the Faroe Islands), both traditional and otherwise. There's something incredibly primal and unique about it. It's incredibly powerful, even without knowing what's being said. She's incredible.
She has an euthoric presence and beautiful!!
Love her and "Wardruna"
😊
Oh awesome ! Can’t wait! React to HEILUNG next if you enjoyed Eivor 😉
If you liked this you should check out Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen. I dont know what they say either but i love the music man.
That music with that nature backdrop makes you feel connected to the moment
I've been discovering music from around the world for a very long time now. It has taught me how utterly restricted and unimaginative the mainstream music industry is in the USA and here in the UK. There is so much more that they pretend does not exist. It's sad. People are missing out on so much.
You should definitely check out other native Nordic/Northern European folk music like Heilung! So many amazing musicians out there letting us experience the origins of ancient music, some that even have original, hand-made, instruments that would have been utilized in the 8th to 12th centuries! It's so beautiful and wonderful! Another one you should definitely check out is Heilung, Einar Selvik, and Wardruna, but there are several others like Runahild and Danheim.
Or oldschool Mari Boine.
Heilung are awesome!!!
The LIFA festival live version of In Maidjan is one of my favourite songs
m.czcams.com/video/kmWTZ3KfnXE/video.html
There's also Krigsgaldr and Anoana.
I also love Omnia too... The track Fee Ra Huri from the I don't Speak Human gig in Cologne is brilliant! Great energy!

Wow! Your voyage of discovery is levelling up!,
❤❤❤
Sounds like she should be on every sound track ever. Beautiful. And Yes the world is a beautiful place. Only wish I could see every bit of it.
Eivor is the badass to the badass's. Just with a drum she can transport you with those magnificent vocal super powers that she has.
Eivor is amazing. The first time I saw her was a different performance of this song, she was standing in front of the water by a statue and you could see boats sailing behind her. Something about her really spoke to me and I still have a really emotional reaction to this song, particularly that one.
I understand a very little bit of what she's saying- I've listened to a lot of Scandinavian music in my life- but you don't need to understand everything she's saying to FEEL it.
Hey, brother. You should check out Helvegen by Wardruna and Aurora and also Wight Raven by Wardruna. Very much in line with this type of music.
This is a Danish song. Eivor sings about ancient magical times. SUPERB!
Plus, if you like this, you should check out Wardruna and Einar Selvik. They are amazing. A good start is Wadruna and Aurora - Helvegen. It's fantastic.
Loved the reaction and since you loved this…I suggest you check out Wardruna ft Aurora singing Helvegen next! ❤
Anthony has a good ear/s its the way its constructed musically its drawing us in..its another level.
Oh man, you watching something from Wadruna or Einar by himself, you would be in for a treat. Him and Eivør did a set recently with the Danish Orchestra that was so good.
I love listening to her she is fantastic voice. You would love to listen to Omnia they are another wonderful band.
I saw her a few years back playing in an old church in London it was dimly lit and the atmosphere was amazing took you to another place
After 15 hundred years.
Pagan views grow stronger than ever.
She is an awesome singer. If you liked this, you might enjoy her song "I tokuni". It is so wonderful ❤
You need to falling free live, it’s in English so don’t worry but it’s one of the greatest songs and live performances ever
I loved watching your reaction to Eivør (she's from the Faroe Islands), she is a force of nature and listening to her singing is a spiritual experience. My favorite songstress of all time, angelic and at the same time such raw power in her voice. As a Scandinavian she awakens deep stirrings of the old Norse ancestry within me.
This is old Scandinavian culture, this is our old Norse tribal culture. There is another version with her singing this song and it's even better, try to find that. It's worth looking for.
You should also listen to her singing the Icelandic hymn "Heyr Himna Smiður", that is the most beautiful musical piece I've ever heard.
Eivor is so amazing man! Glad you've found her music. She also has more traditionally lyrical stuff, and more modern almost pop kind of stuff, just an amazing array of music and her voice is so beautiful.
Great comments bro. Eivor is amazing. Faroese people are half Scottish half Norwegian/Danish. You're right, everyone comes from similar origins and music can unite us.
Was very lucky to see Eivor live in London this year supporting Heilung. Who are incredible. Yes please react to more of this style of music
Eivor is an experience. Cool to see you react to this
Throat singing dude! One of the most fascinating sounds I’ve ever heard! Check out The Hu
This song is absolutely beautiful!!! 💯% otherworldly!!!
I love her songs! Through her videos I also discovered Jonna Jinton and her beautiful voice. Then through her I discovered kulning and watched a lot of videos about that. The whole nordic culture is so fascinating to me (I'm from Germany).
Loved your reaction to Eivor. Your reaction is what I think mine must have been the first time I saw this video. What that woman can do with her voice is epic. She's just as good live. Just booked to see her again in October. So excited about it!
She's incredible! What a beautiful voice 🔥
"Curiosity killed the cat!" .... Yeah, but... _"Satisfaction brought it back!"_ Let's go! I've heard of Eivor a long time ago and haven't heard her in years. This immediately makes me think of the opening credits soundtrack to the series "The Last Kingdom" and I wouldn't be suprised if she was the one who performed it! (Edit: oh it _must_ be her, this is straight outta The Last Kingdom!)
Ohhhhh shooooot. I hear it now!
She was 😉
Eivør is from the the Faroe Islands, The national language of the Faroe Islands is Faroese. The Faroese language is a Germanic language which is descended from Old Norse.
But its shot on location in a fjord in Norway, my home country.
If you want a pronounciation guide:
Eivør can be separated into Ei and vør, Ei is pronouned like the AY in Okay, and the Ø is like the U in butler, So its AY-VUR, with a little pronounced rolling of the R.
Palsdottir is pronounced like POL in Pole, så its POLs-Dot-Tier.
Trodlabundin its straight up Trod-La-Bun-Din, but the U in bun is more like the U in Music than in Bun :)
Palsdottir means daughter of Pal, and is her last name. And Trodla-bundin means spellbound :)
I nearly suggested this before but wasn't sure if you'd be interested. She's a legend. Other stuff like this includes Heilung, Skald, Omnia, Faun, Kiki Rockwell, oh and Songleikr to name but a few 😊❤ love your channel always.
love traditional music, reminds me that our ancestors sat around fires and sang together.
I love her. It’s so ancient and haunting. The Faroe Islands is my dream destination. Most beautiful place on earth.
BP! Eivor singing in english! Her voice is so clear. Love it. More please. Thanks Anthony Ray- the look on BP face was priceless,. BP needs to branch out of his limited music genre right?? Lol. I agree.
She had a concert a few hundred meters from my home 2 years ago.. ❤
YA GOTTA DO MORE NORDIC MUSIC REACTIONS, BROTHER.MUCH LOVE
Oh, hey! About TIME someone sees this incredible performance! =D
She's actually from the Faroe Islands and that's what the language is.
This beatboxing makes me feel like I'm standing under one of these cold waterfalls.
Eye-Vor is how I've heard it, Pálsdóttir literally means Daughter of Pal or Pals in the patronymic naming system (trying to recall the long ago knowledge I vaguely know) Still common in Iceland and the Faroes. She sings everything from old folk to rock. a very lovely voice.
Eivør is a gem! I'm stuck on her rendition of Heyr himna smiður, a pretty modern but oldish melody with a text from 1208 AD. But Trøllabundin is amazing.
The natural progression from here would be other groups like Wardruna, Heilung, and Faun. The folk/folk-metal genre is full of treasures.
Love that you have a british artist as you intro THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN ❤
you need to react also to heilung!
who’s that?
@@BlackPegasusRapsTheir amazing! I suggest the video Anohana if you do react to Heilung.
@@BlackPegasusRapsHeilung is also ‘tribal music’ but it’s proto-germanic and they’re just something else. A must listen. I suggest watching the live version of Krigsaldr from the concert called LIFA. Anohana as suggested by the other commenter is also a very good choice.
@@BlackPegasusRaps as told here a group that define itself as ''history amplified'' their music is based on northern culture of europe, they are also working with ninja theory (videogame software house) making the soundtrack of hellblade 2 senjua's saga. my favourite song remains ''in madjan''
Heilung is on another level 🙈
That was beautiful, thank you BP and AR for introducing me to her! ❤
I'm quite sure that video is filmed in western Norway, I live in Norway and this is kinda Old Norse language, closest are Iceland and Faroe Islands who still speaks it
On a farm, on a farm....👍 We are going to see her with the Danish National Symphony in May and with her band in Goteborg in October... go see her if you get the opportunity, bucket list material
If I right remember this Live was recorded in a norwegian Fjord. I was there and is one of the beautiful things I saw. It's salted water. ❤
Saw her support Heilung (who if you haven't already checked out you DEFINITELY should) earlier this year and she was incredible. As a few people have said check our her performance of Falling Free (Live at the Old Theatre in Torshavn) it's unbelievably good.
Loved this reaction! I agree, this is music 'of the earth', I was thinking that just a few seconds before you actually said it😅 I love this tribal type of music, especially Norse and Native American, both far apart and yet so similar. But many folk/ tribal music have similarities, I guess the most prevelent would be the feeling they evoke, that the earth/ the past/ our ancestors are speaking to us through the music. I would recommend the Mongolian band 'The Hu' especially the video 'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - The Hu Music Video'❤
Thanx for your thoughts and the experience. Amazing
When a heart beats for the first time.😊
Glad to see you checking out some Eivor. She's great! I see someone already requested that you check out Falling Free, make sure it's the (Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn) performance. It's not really at all as "ethnic sounding" as this one. It's pretty much a relationship song, directed towards God, as I understand it. You would probably appreciate it. It´s a really intense performance. I could also recommend I Tokuni, with its accompanying music video. Make sure you listen to the original one in the Faroese language (She is from the Faroe Islands) and not the English translation called Into the Mist, which i guess is fine too, but really loses a lot of the feel of the original.
If you liked this you should definitely check out Heilung! Eivor was the opening act for their performance in Stockholm. Heilung's music can be described as tribal folk music from early medieval northern Europe. Their lyrics are often based on runic inscriptions. When they performed at Red Rocks (CO) they opened and closed the concert together with a local native american tribe, recognizing their kinship on earth. Their preformances are very captivating, unique and fascinating! I would recommend their live performances of Krigsgaldr and In Maidjan. In particular, I would be thrilled to see your reaction to Krigsgaldr, for reasons that you will understand when watching & listening!
it's Norse brotha, sounds so beautiful use to listen to this while going to sleep all the time, calming and soothing
She is singing in old Norse language. It's the language Vikings spoke. Absolutely beautiful.
yes, close to icelandic ... but there have also been some development in these languages, but as far as I know an Icelandic person can read old-norse sagas from the viking times
Faroese is not Old Norse. Faroese and Icelandic are believed to be the closest languages to old Norse, but they are not the same thing.
I love this song! Found it on a Spotify playlist of Viking songs.
This was filmed in ' Geirangerfjorden ' a UNESCO world heritage site on the west coast of Norway.
The Last Kingdom... eivør sings several amazing songs in that series...
We all come from some place... respect it.
You can hear vikings sailing towards your shore
what an amazing voice. couldnt understand a word but i couldnt careless
Eivor, as far as I know wants to evoke the singing of her ancestors and to your point there is as far as know the back ground to this song quite some level of evocation of earth and nature sounds. interesting review Pegasus.
Thanks for this man , beautiful mind blown ⚡️⚡️
