Those Staedtler ones are so much cheaper than the Graphitint here in Germany, that's why I got them. I love the Stadtler colours, I wish there were more of them, they're like real rich gem colours 🥰 I don't own the Graphitint pencils, but the pocket box and I definitely like the colours, but not as much as the Staedtler ones - they just feel so hazy and sooty compared to my Staedtlers 😁
Oh I bet they are very affordable in Germany. They really aren't too bad here. That's a shame the Graphitint are so expensive there though. I agree, the pigments from Staedtler are beautiful and so bold, but I really do love that muted color you get from Grahpitint.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Oh no, definitely in for the muted ones, too. I am sure that just like you said, the options round out each other quite well 🥰 I'll probably be mixing them with my Van Gogh dusk colours, the water soluble charcoal I got from Schmincke and the Boku Undo sumi Gansais that are still waiting for me to actually use them 😁 I just haven't really found the time, the inspiration or the nerve (with the current geopolitical situation, that really gets to me right now - and I'm not even in the area or got family or friends there :/) to be really creative, but once I find that, I'm sure those materials make for a cool mixed media combination ;)
The Staedtler are very affordable here in Mexico, my wonderful sister gave me the Graphitint for Christmas and I have had no success with them, this has been very helpful! Thank you!
Funny you bring those up! I got them in an art sub box this month so I'm going to be playing with them and see what they are about. They came in the palette.
Thank you so much for this video. I use graphitint pencils dry for zentangle shading, but never thought to use them in coloring, where I'm always looking for more muted tones. Can't wait to try them out!
Thank you, this vid was just what i needed as i've been think for a while about the derwent set. Defo getting now as i have the steadler and love the atmosphere they create
Loved this video and the techniques to use with them. I had been wondering about the graphitint pencils. Had no idea before your video that they were water soluble. Thank you for doing it.
Glad it was helpful! I really enjoy tinted graphite. You don't just have to use them in coloring books by any means. In fact, Lindsay the Frugal Crafter did a video just the other day doing a gorgeous painting with them.
Oh my goodness! I had to check which ones I purchased a few months ago. I had no idea what to do with them! I am thrilled to see this demo!!!! Well done Kori! Made my day!!!
Great video! Oh man, I already have the graphite and now I really want the Staedtler! The funny thing is I haven’t done any coloring in a few years but every time I watch you and others I get a serious urge to get back to it!!!
Thank you for this video Lori, it's most helpful. I've not thought to use the tints for a complete picture, I've used them in smaller areas for specific things and not thought to go over with the dry pencil. I think the metallic pencils would go over the top well too, especially the Derwent metallics of recent years - the non-water soluble ones. They have a similar shade set and could well create interesting shadows. Which brings me on to my question. Have you done in the past, or would you consider doing a video on how to get the best out of metallic pencils in colouring books? Because they can look wonderful for steam punk images but I'm sure they could work well in other images if I knew a better way of working with them.
Haha all good. I don't have many metallic pencils but that's often because I create the look of metallic with other colors. I would need to play around with some to try it out!
I have both statler and I agree with the blue color I seen videos and the xl blocks of derwent blue graphitint is as vibrant as the statler I'm waiting for my birthday to purschase the blocks since I have the pans and pencil st in graphitint and stadler pencil set I know it's a luxury to have all three but I really liked the blue block color on a video so luxury purschase...I think I will look to get a few caran dashe single neo 2 colors to add to purschase.. rewatching video.....mikelle art mom 🎨✍👩🎨
Hey the Staedtler are a great place to start for sure! They are definitely more bright, so you get those muted tones from the Spectrum Noir and Graphitint versions.
Try the Steadtler Luna Watercolour 48 set, it behaves like the tinted graphite also very pigmented. Luna series has a normal wax and other is watercolour, if you try them make sure to get the right one. The pencil body of the watercolour set has stripes to show the actual colour and the colour when its watered down. I've been using my luna watercolour set like you do with these pencils, they're amazing.
Thank you for this video. The Spectrum Noir pencils were on HSN a few years ago and I purchased two tins of each, Primary and Nature. I have never used the second tin of either and would be willing to part with the Primary that you mentioned you wanted. Not sure how we would go about this?
The Spectrum Noir ones might being discontinued. I bought mine a while back from Tuesday Morning. I find that a lot of the things I buy there eventually discontinued.
That is so weird about the primary set of spectrum noir not being available anywhere. I got both sets a few years ago , I want to say from Hsn? I love the colors in both. But I will keep an eye out for you if it comes back in stock.

@@LunaBianca1805 Oooh, using them alongside the Van Gogh Dusk colors is a wonderful idea! I'm glad you shared that.
I'm going to have to take a trip over to Germany just to art supply shop cause I can't find these in Denmark. 😔 And Amazon is useless sometimes.
The Staedtler are very affordable here in Mexico, my wonderful sister gave me the Graphitint for Christmas and I have had no success with them, this has been very helpful! Thank you!
Ah shoot! Hopefully this helps so that you can enjoy them more. They are sooooo fun.
Also if you have the Derwent tinted charcoal (water activated also) it would be a great addition to the Derwent Graphitint set
Funny you bring those up! I got them in an art sub box this month so I'm going to be playing with them and see what they are about. They came in the palette.

Iove my graphatints and I agree they dont get enough love. Thanks for the video, I have not seen the other brands before.
I need to give mine more love! Oh def try the others. They really round it out
Thanks you for the advise. I use mine as a base. Now I will start shading with them.
Oh yes, go back in and shade with those bad boys! They do wonders!

Oh yes! They're definitely watersoluble and sooooo fun. Whether you're using them in sketching or coloring books!
I’ve been wondering about these for a while so I really appreciated this video!!🤗❤️💕

TY for sharing inspiration on these pencils, I have completed a picture using the Derwent’s. I love the Subtle tones.
That muted palette is just sooo gorgeous. I love it.
I was using them dry because I didn't know you could use water with them. I'll get the Staedtler now that I know what I'm doing. Thank you.
Oh I'm so happy I helped! They look great dry but a combo of wet and dry really make them come alive
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I looked for the Staedtler tinted pencils and what I found was tinted watercolor in a 12 ct tin. Is that what you were using?

The Staedtler look so vibrant , I like them
They're very bright for sure
Thank you for showing how to use them! I have to swatch mine still 😅
You haven't swatched them yet :O. Giiiirrrrlllll
I bought a Cretacolor set, the aquagraph, and I wanted to look into more so this video is so helpful.
Oh I'm glad it helped! I haven't tried the Creta ones. How are they?
I don’t have any of the graphite pencils and have never use them, so this has been very informative. TFS! 😊
Glad it was helpful! You should try a set. I fell in love after using them just once.
This helps a big deal as I like my graphatint I love the pages you did. I will have to look at the Staedtler tints too. Thanks for sharing.
Of course! I hope it helped

I haven't tried the graphint squares/blocks myself, but I hear they are awesome.
The Derwent ones have been on my wishlist, I think they need to go in my cart 🛒 now along with the staedtler 😁
They are awesome!
Really enjoyed the comparison you did, thanks! (I only knew about Derwent's tinted graphite pencils, not the others.)
They are soooooo fun! All of them have their pros and special effects.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I think Caran D'Ache is coming out with some, as well.
