- I received the Graphitint from a very good friend of mine, Ryan @Glitter Grunge Greetings and had to share them with you all. I had initially swatched and played around with them, and now I want to show you guys how these tinted graphite pencils work and the possibilities.

Organising and swatching my art stuff and colouring books is a hobby in itself
Oh I totally agree my dear - you are a woman after my own heart lol
Hi Kori, I have the graphitints and I love how magical they are! I’ve mostly used them with a tombow blender and I really enjoy them. I use them a bunch of ways. Sometimes I put down a base color with water then once the first layer is dry I use the same or different color on top and smudge it for a subtle effect in some areas.
Spectrum Noir has 2 sets of water soluble tinted graphite pencils (12 pencils in each set). They’re called colourtints. There’s a nature set and a primary set. I have the primary set as a supplement to my graphitints. I think ZucchiniKitty did a swatching video for both sets. (Sorry if I’m rambling 😅 but I love these pencils).
Oooh I might try those with a Tombow and see how they work - if you don't mind? They definitely don't look pretty with alcohol blenders lol.
Yes, I recently found the Spectrum Noir ones too. Gosh darnit more to buy. Someone said they complement the colors. I must have missed Karen's video on them though - I'll take a look.
I keep mine in the roll case with my Inktense. In my mind, they are uniquely good for portraying "Urban Blight," like faded and rusty cars, abandoned factories, etc.
Ooooh that's a wonderful idea actually.
Your so lucky to have friends that share I can't believe I missed these I have none in derwent n they're on my wish list now. That's so cool ty for sharing. Yes do cor a pic with them so excited for you!! I was gonna say I do see a house n land colors in those.
I definitely plan to use them. They are perfect for fall-themed pages.
To me, swatching is and has always been, very therapeutic!
I agree. I just find it so relaxing.
I too find swatching to be quite relaxing! I prefer single page swatch sheets and I keep them in a display easel on my desk so whatever I'm currently using is visible. Thank you for sharing your first impressions on these! I hope you do a video using them on a coloring page. They look neat!
Yes, I definitely plan to!
I bought these recently and they are so fun. I wanted to buy something different than anything else that I own and these are different. I like the streaks it gives the picture texture. I've only colored one page with them and I really like how it turned out.
I'm saving up for inktense next. Hopefully will get them soon, if not I'll ask for them for Christmas. I like to swatch, I also like to have an organized swatch book, well books since I have one for pencils, markers, and other stuff.
Swatching is therapeutic. Sometimes, if I am in a coloring slump, I make a new swatch lol. Oooh I think you will love Inktense. I know they are expensive, but I really do enjoy mine.
Love these! I like swatching also.
Swatching is a second form of coloring therapy.
This was a fab first impression. They look fun. Tfs❤️
Awe thank you my dear!
This is perfect timing as we were just talking about these on my livestream lol. They do blend out very nicely, but I think I'll put them on my list of things to pick up if there is a good sale as I'm not sure how much I would actually use them.
Yeah I would shop around and see. Some places will actually have buying the whole set in open stock cheaper than the pack - so look for those too.
These are so cool! Thanks for sharing. 💜🤗
Of course! They are so nifty and can't wait to try them.
I am so happy you got them. :D
I love my Graphitint, both as pencil and watercolor pans. Yes, it is magic in a pencil.
I use them both in coloring books and for my own art.
Yeah they are so beautiful and it is crazy how they react. I mean even dry they are okay, but the way they pop when wet is insane.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Totally agree 😀
I have had these for awhile.. 12 set, and they are already short! You will love them.
Do they dwindle down fast, or just got a lot of love?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic LOL …lots of love!
I LOVE SWATCHING TOO!!
It is very relaxing, isn't it?
I absolutely love my graphitint pencils
I'm definitely loving these!
These look great! Can’t wait for your review-thanks :-)
Awe thank you!
I understand the need for a swatch system that works. I have been designing my own - and I am still looking for the perfect design lol 😂
Yeah I'm back and forth on so many options. Then, of course, there's the hassle of reswatching everything already done lol
I LOVE swatching, it has become my favorite "coloring" activity. I so want these Graphitints!
Hopefully you can snag them on a deal. On Amazon I have seen them drop and Blick may end up with an open stock deal on them too - so always shop around.
I swatch, organize and declutter when I loose my coloring mojo! Definitely relaxing. I've done my prismacolor at least 3 times. Going to redo to organize them my # but will swatch them by color group. I hope it will make it easier to find.
Yeah reorganizing and swatching sometimes helps you also reappreciate a medium. When I reswatched my polys awhile back it made me want to use them more!
I really enjoy swatching and made my own style of swatch pages to bind together when I'm ready
Yeah I'm truly back and forth between how i want to swatch or organize. One day, I will find the perfect system for me.
I just got mine 🤪
Oooh hope you like them my dear!
Oh word it like magic in a tin!!!! They look really autumanal colours xx
Yes, they are perfect for fall - and lol I agree, magic in a tin!
Just had a look at them in the UK boy oh boy they are pricey too lol x
I like using these in my Edward Gorey coloring book. Spectrum Noir has some as well. It just extends the color range. And they are cheaper. 😍🍁🍂
Oooh so they don't overlap in colors?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I'll look at them again. But I think they are somewhat different. They seem to work about the same. I'll get back to you.
Okay. So they are called ColourTint. Spectrum Noir. I have the Primary Set and the Nature set. Both sets are 12 pencils each. There are different colors. At least look them up on Amazon. Seems like there may be a set or two more. I have the memory of a very small gnat 🦟. Yes i know that is a mosquito. ☺️
I find swatching super relaxing. And yes, these are so cool. I have them fairly high up on my wish list.
It really is relaxing. Hope you get them one day my dear!
Ocean blue, Meadow and Autumn Brown are my 3 favorites! Thank you for showing them to us. :)
That ocean blue is beautiful.
I want these !
Just put them on a wishlist and see if they drop. They do drop now and then.
Ive seen these i think on colouring with k, and id love see a full colour and chat with these
Yes she has used them and she does amazing stuff with them!
You can also take the pigment straight off the tip and you get a different color than activating after you color on the paper/pallet. Just another tip/method for use.
Yes, someone else mentioned that! Quick question, does it pull the pigment out of the graphite? Or will the pigment stay so when I lay down the graphite later, it is not duller (if that makes sense).
@@ColorfullyOptimistic sorry just saw this. I didn't really notice a difference after using the pigment from the tip with a water brush. I did combos of uses on the same page and didn't notice a lack of color or graphite. But it is worth testing more long-term
These look like something I might enjoy! I’ve seen the pans… Love the muted colors.
I have all my pencils swatched in a binder, but it is too darn bulky! So I never use the swatches. I’m trying to find a more compact way to have my swatches, I did enjoy doing the charts. I’m thinking of using a small mixed media sketchbook so I can include water soluble mediums.
I've seen the pans too, but wasn't sure what I'd like more. I feel these are more portable just because I can roll up the pencils and take a waterbrush versus having to wet the pans down. Yeah my binder is sooooo ridiculous and large. I'm trying to find a way. Sadly, no sketchbook works. A mixed media one might be a good idea - but does it bleed with markers?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I have a Canson Mix Media (98 lb) 5.5 x 8x5 in pad and I love that size for printing my PDFs. I just checked and sadly alcohol markers do bleed through it. I may have to look into a watercolor sketchbook instead that comes with enough pages, being realistic my art mediums keep accumulating 😋. I'm glad you brought it up!
@@yazosoyo have you tried the rendr or ohuhu ones?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I have one a set of those cheap touch "something"
@@yazosoyo hmmmm
Fantastic color's
They are really pretty.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic yes they r very much u r very sweet caring loving lady I admire that in u
@@lindagraham thank you Linda
@@ColorfullyOptimistic you're welcome ❤️
I have the graphitint watercolor set but no the pencis. Haven't used them in a coloring page yet. Only swatched.
I think the watercolor set works similar, you just don't get the dry effect, but still, the colors would be glorious.
Kori, color me happy! I also have the Derwent Graphitint paint pocket set - watercolor pans! Wasn't sure if you had heard of them. Sooo beautiful. I'm an autumn girl too. Love these muted tones. Colors in the set are, Autumn Brown, etc! 12 pans. cas
Oooh I have seen the paint set, and I wanted to try them. You are absolutely right, these have an amazing autumn feel to them!
These seem really cool!!! 🥰
They really are! Such a nifty idea.
When you go with your brush direct among the pencil, you pick only the color without the graphite, so you have 48 colors 🙂
Yes...only bummer is it does degrade the pencil itself and you often have to sharpen through
I love my derwent pencils. Had the Inktense and Graphitint and just got the drawing pencils.
I saw the Drawing ones go on sale on Amazon....it is getting hard to resist. Do you like them?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I love them. They are so creamy. And if you like muted colours they are so beautiful.
@@aprill551 darn was hoping you would say they're awful so I didn't give in lol
@@ColorfullyOptimistic lol, you're welcome!
Hi Kori, I normally dont swatch anything out because I pick my colors based on feeling and mood. Some of my best work is done by doing that. But lately I have been swatching my supplies so that I can relax. Plus I wanted to see how they react to different papers.
Hey that's okay! Not everyone swatches. I do it because I do like to see how they look on the paper I use the most, and just, well, it's relaxing ha
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I've been stressed lately because of adjusting meds so I will do anything to relax.
@@mandiart2002 awe I'm so sorry *hugs*
@@ColorfullyOptimistic Thank you so much!
To my surprise I actually enjoyed swatching…. I’m looking for a good swatching book or to make one
You would be better off making your own because you want to swatch your supplies on the paper that you use most. Supplies will react different kinds of paper.
@@mandiart2002 thanks! I’ll see if I can find some examples on Pinterest ☺️
@@iseashia your welcome anytime. I'm just going have to do video on my channel how make one.
@@mandiart2002 that would be awesome!!! I’d love to watch it! ☺️
@@mandiart2002 is this your page name?
Do you think if you mixed enough white with the meadow green you could maybe get a yellow ?
Hmmm. Hard to say because it is very green, but I will give a go and see! But to create a primary color, such as yellow, you can't really make it as it makes other colors.
I feel left out; only a few of the colors were visible for me. Dang
Hi Nancy - how come only a few were visible? Was it an issue with the video?
@@ColorfullyOptimistic I honestly don't know. I was watching on my Samsung tablet, which reproduces color vividly, but almost all were grey even after activating. The only colors visible were a couple blues and reds.
The video I watched prior to this one was coloring a pumpkin, which was gorgeous by the way.
@@nancyfenity9817 that's weird. They're def not gray. I'll have to snap a picture
hi, can you tell me if they smudge?
If they are dry you mean? If so, yes, they would a little, as they are graphite. Once wet and dry, they don't move.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic thank you
