Wow, it's absolutely incredible that you have managed to get your papaya to fruit over here, Joe! Hopefully, the fruits taste nice and sweet once they ripen up!
@@UrbanBounty thanks so much mate 😃 To be honest I’m not sure what I’ve been doing right, but whatever it is, it’s worked so far 🤣 I really hope the fruit will not disappoint 🙏🏽
Such an incredible achievement, Joe. The first tropical papaya I've seen grown in this country. 👍🏽 Might be an idea to bag those fruits before it's noticed by pests..
@@MoebiusUK , thank you. It just shows it can be done 😀 Good idea to bag the fruits…I didn’t think of that! Although the animals would probably be thinking what kind of foreign fruit it is 🤣
Wow thats amazing Joe.well done I've tried a few times with papaya trees that ive bought here, and no success always got stem rot. The nearest ive got was a mountain papaya i grew from seed flowered and fruited under 2 years, but it dropped its baby fruit and sadly i lost the plant in 2022. Ive got a seed grown Oak leaf papaya now that produces only male flowers so no chance of fruit unless i can grow another and hope it's either hermaphrodite or a female.
@@louiseahmedtropicalplantgr5000 thanks Louise ☺️I’ve found that as long as I water when the pot is light when lifted, then I don’t get any root issues. I do that pretty much with all my plants. Sorry to hear you lost your mountain Papaya back in 2022. Fingers crossed your Oak leaf Papaya is hermaphrodite 🙏🏽🌱
@@vineshddabba9582 , it’s been journey with these Papayas, from seed to actual fruit 😀 When winter arrives, I’ll probably prune a little off the top and bring it indoors.
Impressive work getting papayas to fruit in London especially in smaller pot.
@@VirginiaFruitGrower thanks bro 😀 to be honest, they haven’t been that difficult to care for. I just make sure I don’t over water 💦

@@PeterEntwistle , for some reason I always had hope that I would get fruit one day from my Papayas. Hopefully they won’t disappoint in taste 🙏🏽
Nice video Joe, your papaya tree is looking great, those are nice fruit hanging around. Thanks for sharing.
@@johnnysworld-backyardorchard thank you as always Johnny 🙌🏾
Yay!!! They look really good Joe. The weather this year has been absolutely toying with us.
@@unosl1293 thank you ☺️
Hopefully the weather will sort it self out, so we can get a resemblance of summer 🤣
The fact you have fruit in London is amazing in itself Joe and then to see there is no rot on the trunk also. Amazing results 👏

So nice to see papaya fruit on your tree! Love papayas!
@SunshineGarden-9B, thank you 🤩 it’s definitely a rare thing here in London uk 🇬🇧😀
Great to see they are still holding on Joe, its a seriously long wait for these to develop in our climate. Think my babaco took around 9 months
@@lyonheart84 thanks Brett. Yep!with our topsy turvy weather 🌦️ these subtropical fruits can take ages to ripen

Wow...the only specimen i have seen growing is at Kew Gardens. How does it survive winters?

Nice. I have a bunch of papaya seedlings I'm growing from seed. How long did it take from sowing the seed to growing and fruiting?
@@mgs721 that’s great to hear 😀
It’s taken at least 3-4 years start flowering and fruiting
Yo mind doing another video reviewing ur finger lime tree?
