Man, I'm loving the new trend for the 16/18 in screen. Especially with how they're making them slim but powerful, and with Nvidia's surprising effenciey improvement. There is a lot of room for potential.
i love it too. 18 ins along with a mini led display is truly a desktop replacement
@@ahsoka6807 honestly. I cannot wait. I never liked big laptops like that. But if their nail the performance, slimness, and weight. I’ll get one.
@@LAFadhel exactly man if it performs like a 3080 desktop or higher it will be perfect
@@LAFadhel imagine being able to carry around with you a laptop with a huge screen , with a mini led display and performs like a 3080 , itd be perfect
@@ahsoka6807 only time will tell. I think the 18in will outperform a desktop 3090. Then next year with the “TI” revisions. They may rival the 3090 ti or the 40 series due to efficiency and wattage improvements.
Great overview, definitely looking forward to seeing these brighter screens w/ 40 series in action. I just picked up the 2022 15.6" 3060 Helios too, love it so far but I guess I may be upgrading sooner than expected. 🙃
Agreed, this looks great! I like the ability of having RGB available (and can also just turn them off). This new updated chassis looks amazing.
For the m18, may I suggest a Furmark noise sample with dB measured?
I'm looking into upgrading my MSI GS66 Stealth towards a 2023 16 inch model, I seen several models right now betrween the MSI's, the Razers and the Acer. I'm leaning towards either an Acer or a Razer Blade 16.
what an absolute beast of a laptop
Anyway to find out of 13th gen intel tb4 ports connect to GPU? To be used with VR headsets with a display port adapter that need a direct connection.
I've used Acer products in the past and they've always been reliable, so I'm looking forward to your hands on review of these laptops.
Thanks Bryan! Stay tuned = )
Nah dude
My helios 300 2019 version has given me so many problems
Even had to change the keyboard the hadrive died and now the right speaker is not working .
Random crashes . Fan not working
The list goes on and on .
@@alkatrazprophet9554 dude literally any brand has the possibilty of QC issues, your personal experience doesn't mean much.
@@blasianking4827 happened to me too. Acer also has a feel of being unrefined in both build quality and consistency. Sad because they give good value
@@alkatrazprophet9554 same
Very interesting devices. Hope we get more mini led displays this year.
Ugly design 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
It's not gamer machine !
Brother, as far as other reviews or previews I have watched of the Helios 16 it seems it is defficient in performance despite having 165W TGP(on 4080), it has been speculated by many that it could be driver issues. Please verify the performance figures in your review. I have to choose between this or the Zephyrus M16 (4080 145W) for a purchase this year. Thanks, lots of love!
Any Info About TGP of Nvidia GPU in 16 inch 165 hzs ?
What kind of performance would you expect from 4070 mobile models or what it might be equivalent to from 30series desktops series
Prolly desktop RTX 3060-70 performance
4070 will probably be similar to a 3070 desktop
Does it has aluminum frame or plastic?
Erm what. I have the Helios 500, Helios usually have the ports at the back
My 2019 Helios 300 just gave out and passed away to the after life. Perfect moment to get a new one
I'm liking the new redesigns way more than the aggressive "gamer" style chassis they had over the last few years. Even the new Nitro redesigns look great.
I'm willing to give Acer a better shot. Had a very defective Nitro 5 model that I bought brand new last year. Had to get a much better Legion 5i to replace it, but if Acer are trying to fix their QC issues and actually providing great products while undercutting their competition with the same specs, I'm all for it.
Same with my predator 3 months of purchase and its motherboard just gave up and I had to wait for a month just to replace it but now its still ok, its been a year now.
@Ron My Nitro 5's 144hz mode still doesn't work. Started glitching out two months into using it and I couldn't do anything to fix it. No official repair centres here either. Also very bad thermals. I had several BSOD's on it even while using a stand and limiting the CPU to 99%.
I was enjoying the laptop for its performance and the specs are decent. 3060/10300H/144hz/16GB RAM. It's pretty decent when it came to framerates, but it's just the most unreliable tech I've ever bought.
Might be unlucky I have my Predator Helios 300 for 3 years now no hiccups
@@ZhierOrreih which Helios did you buy? I’m looking at getting the 240hz 3070ti version
Is the Helios 16/18 body made of plastic or aluminium? With the mini LED screen I’m gunning for this over the legion 7 but not if it’s plastic.
Really looking forward for a comparison between Helios 16, Zephyrus G16 and Strix G16
Agreed!
+ legion
though helios deleted zephyrus and strix on cooling in 2022 ..... My priority will be cooling as here its 32 degree lmao
Does these laptops have touch screens?
from what im seeing acer is the only company offering 18 inch mini LED option right? the rest who offer it are only offering it in their 16 inch versions?
Just when I thought my 15.6 laptop was huge, the manufacturers now introduced an 18 inch laptop...
Man, I liked the wallpaper so much, may I have the default wallpaper?
So how much the absence of vapor chamber hurt its performance with this new power hungry cpu/gpu combination?
What racing game was that?
mini led?
The world has to be ready for 18" Laptops
@RealMatthewMoniz2 Fake Matthew Moniz.
How about another review now that it's released , thanks for the video 👍
this year THE DISPLAYS WILL SHOCK US
I hope not. I dont want to be electrocuted !!! Im kidding MINI-LED on a lot of new laptops will be amazing

I'm wondering if Helios 500 will get new design and come back in 2023😀 Cuz it is the true beast of Predator series
Acer is on fire!
Just make a 14” size body with 18-20” screen. I mean we already have the folding screen technology , so what stopping them making a laptop folding screen on the top and bottom and/or sides?
Even 21-23 inch screen is possible.
18 inch wow
what game is being played at 0:52 please?
wow dude you're putting these videos out really fast. Nice!

I was thinking of getting the Triton over the Helios because of the 16;10 display. Now i can just get the Helios.
Please mention international measures.
I keep going back to the Alienware in my mind with the M18, but it's a no go because of the lack of HDR screen option even in 18", and they are obviously available as Razer and Acer both doing it in their 18" models.
But 6 USB ports total in the M18 which is a big thing for me, 4090 (Acer tops out at 4080 even in the 18") and FOUR user accessible drive bays and they brought the secondary key lighting back, finally.
But HDR and G-Sync are mandatory for me, especially for a premium laptop, I can't even consider watching Netflix without HDR now as it removes all that ghastly compression lines in very dark scenes, and games just "pop" better in HDR. Alienware will have G-sync as always but they are, again, as ALWAYS, screwing up on the screen choices. Sigh.
The Acer is interesting I guess, I just wish it had the 4090. But we'll see how the 4080 performs. I suppose the 4080 will be OK for QHD, my current 3070 is not too bad with it.
Happy New Year Matthew!
But the asus scar 18 has a 240hz display with both hdr and gsync and the 4090. It might lack ports but it has a thunderbolt 4 port which you can use a dock with.
@@vali69 I'll definitely check that out too, cheers.
I still use the 2018 model. (I replaced parts like you would replace parts for a used car.) I would kill for 3-4 hour (productivity) battery life. So I don't have to pay 4000+ plus. Thank you Acer. I'm glad I skipped a generation.
I would love a 18" MacBook Pro
not going to happen.
Let's hope Acer bothers to bring their flagship Helios models to Australia this year, we DO exist and like laptops you know.
I am curious when the laptops will be launched in INDIA
What am i missing here…. There is now a group of competitor laptop makers now coming out with 18 inch laptops at the same time? I mean is there a memo being passed around competing makers like when they all introduced micro sd card slots and thin laptops at the same time?
Should I go for 2022 helios model or should I wait for 2023 model. Can anyone suggest me I don't know what i should do cause the budget remains the same
i just got the 2023 helios 16. its awesome. well what about you. did you settle for the 2022?
@@zonzonerz I haven't bought anything yet I decided to wait and see the price difference
Can u please flash weights in kgs when u speak of them in lbs? Like just on screen. :)

@@MatthewMoniz no problemo, still love ur content 💞
Still no USB type-C charging it seems...
this new trend with 16:10 and 18:10 ratio had to come out at the exact time when I have already chosen zephyrus g15 over m16 lol :(
Nice video! I'm very interested on the small size of things like the Razer Blade 14, ROG G14 and maybe Alienware X14 2023 editions. Silly question but what is the game running on this video?
ive got 2 predators a g5 i7 7700 and a hilios i9 8950hk i dont give a toss about how big i love both mine butt its time to replace the g5 as it not suported by win 11
Acer gaming laptops are out from my list for the right half shift key. 18 inch laptop, come on Acer, give us the full keyboard.
im really hope they fix their crappy acer care center
Lmfo why
Тоже пользуюсь Helios 500, i7 / 32 / 1070 / 17.3
Однозначно хочется уже нового, 18" прекрасное решение в 2023.
Благодарю за обзор.
Hmm, I wasn't interested in acer. But it doesn't look that bad and now I am interested!
I dang like that more straight edges on the back of the Helios. So elegant and yet have those grill design that screams Predator in the background. It's like the Triton and the Helios had a baby. Maybe I'll get this. Maybe.
Well described. I'm quite excited for Acer for the first time
Seems like this year is the year of mini LED. Lenovo is really missing out on this by having no mini LED option.
One thing with this redesign, there are still space on the back, I wish they had put the rj45 at the back instead, like the legion
This. Thought my money was 100% going to a new legion 7 but not having a mini LED screen is a major loss.
Helios! Helios!
No ethernet port at the back, no dedicated mini display port a the back despite having ample room for it. These thick cables are the most annoying to route. Shame. Moving that ethernet port to the back would free up space for an extra USB -C port at the side and a full SD card slot.
all laptops look like legions now
Technically Alienwares they did it first but yes the Legion is the most popular one
Don't suppose you've heard anything on a white version for the 18 😞
1080 only makes sense to gamers due to the higher frame rate and refresh rate I got sick of seeing everything made for gamers .but creators have not been considered. fortunately, it is kind of changing now.
I don't like Acer products, always having big problems after 1 year of use
Would this be suitable for college??
Asking for myself
I'm currently using an msi laptop but it's battery life is total crap
Battery life will probably not be good on this either
@@MatthewMoniz well I need one with atleast 6 to 7 hour battery life
Which new laptop would you recommend
@@nimaythapar1790 any new laptop can probably hit 6-7 hrs, just turn off dedicated GPU if you can, turn on silent mode, batter saver mode, etc.
@@blasianking4827 ok, thanx I'm thinking bout getting the 2023 g14 or a new msi 14 inch laptop (don't remember its name)
@@nimaythapar1790 Thin and lights especially are built for efficiency so I'm sure you can comfortably hit it just as long as you do what I suggested, possibly even more than 6-7 hrs depending on the laptop.

Disappointing lack of AMD mobile components this ces
Eighteen inch laptop. Small right shift key. That's all you need to know.
The desain, Its look like legion version by Lenovo...
I bet its 4060 version i5 13th gen would cost here 2300$. RIP wallet. but what a BEAST of a laptop also that slick design. Guess I'll just have to stick to my 2020 I5 10300h 3060 105w Predator, still kicking modern games to this day.
still no amd in helios line 😔
bad speakers ? bad deal.
Predator helios 300 (2022) model has 1080p webcam so it's obvious that 2023 model will have 1080p (or better)
Tx buddy
Acer has also announced the Nitro lineup which will now be called Nitro 16 and 17 as a separate sizes.
Matthew Moniz as always Excellent videos l like Acer laptops or windows laptops in general.
Thanks for watching!
@Matthew Moniz I have a question in some videos I've seen people talking about Apple m1 are better than Windows laptops but the one thing they are not talking about is market share Hands down by far windows and any hardware Using ut is by far the most used Operating system/laptops @ 85% Compared to Apple @ 16%
Any thoughts?
16:10 in 2023 is absolutely the sweet spot
I'm still using my old Predator Helios 300 with a Gtx1060 GPU for more than 4 years now. There's no doubt that they make laptops very durable and specs that's more powerful than the previous models. But compared to others, specifically Asus, Acer lack features in their new laptops. Aside from Predator X 21 and the Helios Spatial Labs edition with "3D" display, there's no other feature like touchscreens, tablets, 2-in-1's and dual screens which can benefit the user not only in gaming but productivity as well.
Having ports at the back of the laptop was the normal thing to do back in the 90s and even into the early 2000s. I don't know when this crazy thing about avoiding it at all or at least some level, having them at the back came or the reason behind it. It's so stupid!
I like the more "sharp" angles, the more boxy look of these. I am not a fan of curved angles/corners. Just not.
I never heard of a 350W power brick for a laptop. At least that I can remember. Interesting.
18 inch does sound interesting for the better cooling alone.
Thanks for the video.
😊❤
enjoy your video
Thanks!
I will not buy another high end Acer gaming laptop again. I have owned the Triton 700, Helios 700, Triton 900. They have never released any firmware or system updates since day I bought them, zero. Once they release a new product, they move on to the next. Also, they do not have a battery management software. All my 3 Acers lost 30% battery capacity in a year and I didn't use them daily nor long hours. The keyboard on my Triton 900 and Helios 700 had well known issues, some keys broke in a few months of light use. Go find the posts on reddit and youtube...etc. Acer make great products especially one like the Helios 700 which ran super cool and fast, but the support from Acer sucks.

lol that looks so much like the old school Asus G17 model...wtf are they doing in 2022?
incharesting HMMMMM
Why do they place that damn trackpad to the left Bro??? Whyyyy =))))) at least move it more to the right than center. When you game , you use WASD keys. If you move the trackpad closer to them you can easily knock your aim off by touching that dumb trackpad.... Oh My Days...
18 inch displays? Are they crazy? If I wanted to carry a monitor in my bag, I would.
Might be that the laptops are as big as 17 inches but have bigger displays. Asus did that with the zephyrus g16, same size as the g15 just bigger display.
