Predator laptops are really offering value for money as compared to Legion series which is getting out of the competition with other laptops who are offering similar specs with lower price at least in india
You're right. Smh legion 5 pro 3070 is 1.9 lakhs hahahahahahaha. Rog strix 3070 is at 1.5. even the Dell g15 with 3070ti is at 1.6. Lenovo better change its prices otherwise they'll lose their market share
Not only in India, its all over the world, and Lenovo series especially with hight specs it getting over priced big time, but this year the competition really on fire and most probably hight price will back fire those companies who exaggerate with price, thats what i hope.
Lenovo Legion 7 are really overpriced the current one is for 2599€ with an 12GB vram amd version and 6th series amd cpu with 32gb ddr5
1200 usd is the cheapest they're putting out this year? Man, the prices are astronomical. When I bought my predator (2020), 1200 usd laptops had a full powered 2060 or a 2070 at least, and now they're only putting out xx50 series GPUs in that price range. The prices have significantly gone up, wow.
We have a period of low inflation and good demand, but you have been spoilt as this is not never ending. Now prices are being reset to compensate for the dire world economy, lower demand and higher inflation. I can see 2-3 years of increasing prices in PCs.
Thankyou for this, I am looking at changing from my Ge73 raider this year its survived the summer with long star citizen sessions between server crashes :/ but dont like the keyboards with different colour WASD keys, and while on the subject of keys do you know who manaufactures the keyboard for it? as the only gripe I have with my current GE73 is the keyboard sometimes the caps will pop off in frantic gaming sessions! and also some of the keys have lost the green lighting component, its a steel series one so would be looking to avoid that if possible, the 18" option looks like the way to go for me but as I have an eye condition I will be trying to get one with the lowest resolution screen available, as my eyes are too screwed to see the benefit of a better screen lol thanks again and look forward to your next one...
Hey Jarrod , does the new nitro 5 still have HDD slot i.e smaller battery due to HDD slot ?
Does the helios have type c charging? And what about the front facing camera?
how much do you think the prices will be in Australia? asking cause the starting process are different in those curremcies
Hey there I Purchased a Ryzen 5 Legion 5 in June and now the laptop has starting suffering from heavy lagging and glitching due to my ram being 80-90% when gaming so I am now thinking to upgrade from the stock ram to 2 x 8gb ADATA Premier DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM RAM.I was wondering if it would be compatible?
Hey Jarrod. Now that you've covered almost all the gaming laptops that have been announced in ces23, Please do a video highlighting the key takeaways and deal breaking features of each brand or at least an high level comparison sort of video with your personal preference on which brand really outdid others.
It would be foolish to do it now, before ACTUALLY testing all the models, he will need to thoroughly test all the upcoming models and then put it in order
I will be doing a CES wrap up with my thoughts based on the info as it is now.
Acer Helios 18 or Lenovo Legion 7i pro (the upcoming 2023 model) ? Which do you think will be better to buy?
Would you recommend the Helios Neo 16 over a Helios 300 (2022)?
I am wondering what will they do with Triton series since they were not announced.
Does the nitro chassis bear some resemblance with last year's Helios 300 or am I just seeing things?
Hmm. I just purchased a 2022 nitro 5 with i9, 16gram, 1tb, and rtx3060. For 1.5kCAD. That should be fine right? Or was waiting for the May release a smarter decision 😮
what's the tgp on 4060 and 4070 of helios 16?
Hi acer predator Neo 16 i7 13gen RTX 4050 is good for 1440p gaming?
I ordered msi crosshair 15 in Amazon and it got cancelled automatically 🙂
Now I'm stuck at which one should I go
Can you suggest me good specs?
Is the body metal or plastic? Really makes or breaks a laptop for me. They’ve been plastic as I recall in the past but these screen shots look aluminium?
what's up with the Razer Blades? I kinda miss the 4k screen on bigger model
I wanted to buy 17" with 4K panel for work and gaming, but now I just don't know what to do
I'm wondering if they just kill altogether 15 and 17 in favor of 16 and 18, or will they release updated rtx40 models with old chassis and screens?
Alot of times only the base specs are given but you are able to go in and edit your hardware options.
what about the 2024 version of the 18inch mini led helios now?
I like the newer cleaner look of grill above the keyboard
Pretty sure the Helios is also replacing the Triton series since it looks the same. There might be a chance that last year's Nitro 5 and Helios 300 may be refreshed too seeing they redesigned it only last year. But only time will tell. Probably won't be announced in CES.
Also, the new Helios and Nitro seems to have redesign keyboard. Unlike previously where it's translucent around the side keycaps, this year's might only be a single solid piece. Been ages since that changes to be honest.
I think the Triton series might become their thin and light competitor with the MSI Stealths/Razer Blades/ROG Gseries laptops at this point - which isn't a bad thing
I doubt the Helios series is going to replace the Triton laptops. The new Helios laptops still have a very strong gamer aesthetic, a smaller battery (90 vs 99 wh), are generally bigger, and have no Windows Hello or fingerprint sensors (at least they didn't mention anything like that during the press conference).
From what I understand, the Triton Series was always supposed to appeal to the mobile gamer/prosumer creator market.
The Helios range is intended to be a no limit, desktop replacement.
Battery capacity in nitro 16 ?
what about type c charging?
These videos are awesome to get an idea how the new modes are. Are you interested to make a video where you make a top 5 (for example) of the "best" laptops on paper, or which models have the best changes? Would be awesome to see what you expect and what they really bring. Awesome stuff here ;)
Why are the laptops sold for much less in the US than in europe? The US Dollar and the Euro are woth almost the same
bro doesnt count inflation and other stuff that effect the reason why its more expensive than in the us
@@TVCHLORD Thank you for your anwser! Would the prices be similar after tax or would there still be a large difference though?
Big ups Jarrod for giving us the bacon bits on all upcoming laptops
i have another question: whats better? single channel ram but faster speed 3200hmz or dual ram 16gb but slower speed 2666hmz? whats better? or do they cancel each other out?
3200 single stick is 1600, 2666 dual is 2666. DDR means Dual Data Rate, so both sticks are 3200. thats why 'dual channel' is so important
Great content, with the difference in speeds of the RAM depending on the version you get, It got me wondering what is more important for simulation/turn base games like total wars (older versions)/football manager/civilization etc... Higher RAM speeds or CPU? I really thinking of getting a intel 13 gen i7 HX with a modest graphic like a 4050, probably a total overkill for those kinds of games but i need an upgrade anyways and want to make simulations quicker.
13700HX has 4800mhz and 13900HX comes with 5600mhz in the helios 16's
Glad I waited lol I was so close to pulling the trigger
Hey @JarrodsTech what do you think about a asus zephryus M16 rtx 3060 with an I7-12700h 16gb DDR5 512gb of storage for 1100 usd dollars it is on a huge sale here in canada i was wondering if you think it is worth buying ! I am perplex but the deal looks really good.
Hi!! I'm deciding between helios 300 (2022) 3070ti, and helios neo 16 4060. Almost same price at best buy (1300 and 1350 u$d)
I don't really mind if 3070ti gets 10more fps, i'm a casual gamer. But i like the temps on the 4060 better. I'm in music production so the new i713700 would be better in single core than the 12700 on the helios 300, so that's better for me. And also the neo 16 has a 16:10 panel with 500nitswith i think the same color accuracy as the h300
I'm leaning towards the 4060 but the last time I bought a pc was 10 years ago, so i wanted to know your thoughts, am I looking it the right way? Or the helios 300 with 3070ti would have much better performance and temps and a better option overall?
Thanks!
4060 because of frame generation only available in 40's series. I would love to have a 3070ti however
I’m considering this laptop but do I get the 2022 one or the 2023 one if I can afford it? I just got rid of two new 2022 faulty hp omen laptops.
I just bought the 2022 n I’m wondering if I should return n get the 2023 but I’m satisfied with the 2022 n will just wait all I gotta do is put more storage in the one I have now

Heads up, i think Acer change the memory again in the Helios into 5600mhz memory than the 4800mhz one that you previously found before in acer website.
For me 16:10 laptop screen make sense for small laptops, because big part of screen is take take top and button bar and with big laptop i want to open 2 apps same time but screen needs to be wider than taller
What about Hp OMEN 2023?

i actually have the helios 2022 laptop and now im wishing they rebuilt it sooner kind of how cars come out 2023 like a month before 2023 xDD my cpu? i think is liquid metal or my gpu is im not sure
When do these come out? Also, Is it better to wait for the 2023 laptops or just get a good 2022?
It really depends on whether you need one now or not and whether you're willing to pay 2023 prices. It's likely 2022 models will get cheaper as 2023 models start being available.
@@JarrodsTech right. Will the upgrades and several hundreds of dollars more make that much more of a difference in better performance? I’m looking at streaming a basic game. Don’t want lag.
bought one but I think mine is a hybrid of both 2021 and 2022! It got the 2021 design with upgraded from fabrication GPU/CPU the GPU is 3070 while the CPU is 11800H.

Anyone have knew about future 500 Helios series ?
Wouldn't a 18in 16:10 display have similar ppi to a 17.3 with 16:9 aspect ratio? 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 can't be compared just by the diagonal, ppi should be considered.
yes just a little bit lower ppi. i still prefer 1080p on a laptop screen even at 18 inches so i would totally go for the 1080x1200p version. my eyes aren't the greatest and i hate using windows scaling.
@@brettbergan1600 My main monitor rn is 1440, but it's 1440 by 900. It's only 20 inches, so density isn't too bad, but text clarity isn't great. However, games look fine. I think 1080p class is great for gaming even on a 17 inch laptop, but 1440p starts to become compelling for productivity on a 15 inch.
@@eclipsemantis 1440x900 is 900p, not 1440p. thats gotta be either a really old or really cheap screen to not even be 1080. fyi, 1080p is 1920x1080, 720p is 1280x720, 4k is 3840x2160.
@@bradhaines3142 I know, I was trying to make a joke by saying that my display is 1440p, which is pretty good, when in reality it is, like you said, a very old panel from about 2005 and not good it all
I just bought a new helios 16 with 13900HX and 4080.. Extremely impressed. my main desktop is overclocked 4090/13900K, and for a laptop, i'm shocked at how good it is because i game on max hardware. the Liquid metal keeps the CPU from throttling so this is probably the main callout because every laptop i've ever owned, the CPU has throttled during games. The only downsides: My model came with 2x8GB 5600mhz ram and i had to upgrade to some transcend jetram 32GB 2x16 5600mhz CL46, and the speakers are horrible, but i'm comparing that to my macbook pro 16" so that isn't really fair. Who doesn't use headphones with a gaming laptop anyway..? I got the bestbuy model without the mini-LED and has the 2560x1600 240hz nano-IPS. The pixel density is plenty great enough for a 16" screen so it is very crispy with details; even with distant details. I'm glad i didn't spend more to get the mini LED. the IPS gets SUPER bright when configured correctly and handles brightness/contrast increases suprisingly well while keeping blacks (dark grays on an IPS) consistent and deep. If you are expecting OLED blacks, you need to go somewhere else, because you won't find that on any of the panels with this laptop. I'm one of those gamers that will never use DLSS or any fake frames because they always look terrible in real life compared to max-native settings so performance is very important to me. With that being said, Definitely go for the 4080 over the 4070 models like Jarrod says. There is a substancial difference IRW performance between the two. my 4090/13900K is on an LG C2 and i'll be honest, i can do without HDR in most cases so that is definitely not a negative for me. I think what shocked me the most about this laptop is the build quality and premium feel to it. The packaging was stellar, and the entire unit feels very high quality. I love the customizations with predator sense. They really did get it right. It also takes very little time to get rid of the bloatware from initial setup. If you are struggling to make a choice on a 23' model laptop, stop looking at the 4070 models, the 4090 models cost too much for what they are, and the 4080's are the sweet spot. You will not be disappointed with the gaming or productivity performance at all. Best buy is running the 13900HX/4080/240hz model for $2099 in OCT 23. GET ONE!
The CPU is still gonna hit 100 Celsius and throttle during stuff like cinebench for sure but I agree during game’s the Acer Predator Helios 16 keeps the CPU in the lower 70’s with an auto fan profile using Predator Sense Turbo Mode but it definitely gets loud which isn’t an issue cause I play with headset……..
We’ve got the i7-13700hx version with the Rtx 4070 and it’s simply incredible for 1440p gaming ultra setting including Ray tracing, and the Gpu never gets hotter than about 74 Celsius and that’s with games pulling as much as 134 watts albeit again the fans get very loud on Turbo mode but the performance is worth it……..
The reason the Cpu hits 100 Celsius and throttles during cinebench is because it literally pulls 167 to 175 watts and despite the liquid cooling it’s not gonna keep the Cpu under 100 Celsius when pulling that sort of wattage
Jarrod will acer revive triton 900?
starting at 1200? so much for being budget friendly
might as well get previous gen that they will definitely put on sale for stock clearance
hey @jarrod how do you get all those laptops???
@@JarrodsTech i know but in general how do you get laptops to review?? are you rich?
I've had the worst experience with my Nitro 5 I bought brand new last year. I stopped using it after I got my Legion but I will give Acer their dues. They've really impressed me with both the Nitro and Helios redesigns. In fact, I think the Predator Helios laptops look a little more aesthetic than the new Legions. Hoping to see all the benchmarks but I'll happily buy a new Helios 16.
@Kiyopon Performance wasn't bad when it wasn't BSODing, but the biggest issue was that out of nowhere my 144hz mode started tearing and glitching suddenly and I did all I could from installing new drivers to doing a fresh Windows install. Even the 60hz mode glitched out for a while and at that point I had to hook it up to a 4K TV via HDMI to use it but the 60hz automatically fixed itself while the 144hz is still glitching. I thought my GPU died but games ran fine when hooked up to the TV.
Sending it for repairs entailed a wait time of more than a month and since my laptops are where I do most of my work with my music studio I decided to buy a Legion 5i as soon as I could. It's way more reliable.
@zy I think the last gen Legion 7s look better. And I'm quite fond of my own 5i's aesthetics, especially the sides of the laptop and the port options.
But Lenovo's playing it too safe this year. Acer are the hungry wolves trying to climb up the mountain again so they're going all out. Another cool thing they're doing is the 3D Spatial Labs edition of the Helios. Very cool. Will probably cost a pretty penny but I'd buy it.
So is the 4080 laptops for next year sort of the same price tier as 3070ti laptops from last year?
I doubt it. The 4070 is the replacement for the 3070/3070 Ti. The 4080 is the replacement for the 4080/4080 Ti. The 4090 was probably named like that to stand above the 4080 as even more expensive than the 3080/3080 Ti.
Not sure, im think 4070 will be higher pricr than 3070ti 🤞... and 4080 and 4090.... i dont wanna think to much
Oh i see 😂 I assume so because during the reveal at ces, it was announced that 4080 laptops start at 1,999 usd, and in 2022 most laptops fitted with 3070ti cost around the same price range during release.
hello my idol. i saw a laptop same as helios predator 16 but different chassis its called predator engine neo 2023.can you tell me please the different between the two them. its a chinese variant.laptop release.i hope you see read my comment.than you
I’m excited for these new laptops replacing desktops this coming years
Helios is supposed to start 50% pricier in EMEA - for the same specs, I guess?
Damn this 18 inch are a great idea!
800 euros difference between north america and europe on the helion? i could go there, take a two day vacation, get the laptop, come back and spend the same if i was buying it here
Acer is coming back! I got the 2017 model (helios 300), but i need an upgrade. But i dont want to spend more than 2200€ 🤞... But this year looks expensive.
I think that they won't be faster ram because the maximum speed is achieved by soldering the memory
My 2021 nitro with 1650 still rocking 60 fps on 1080p low settings in mordern titles guys. I'm still happy
good upgrade for my legion 2021
I bought the Acer 2022 model and I can tell it's a good laptop good materials and quality performance very very Cold 🥶
Nice nitro 5 got its own logo.
can i ask when is the review for the helios is coming out? im wanting to buy it, but im waiting for your review since you are the only reliable source i trust on the internet.
I'm not sure. I don't have one yet and my contact in Australia said some time in Q2.
Goood upload upload xD
So there will be no 15.6" this year?
I’m not onboard with 16:10 format, back in the 19-22” 60hz era very few gamers chose that aspect ratio. I’m used to 25” being 1080p360 so I don’t want to spend more money on a 1440/1600p display and lose performance, I just want a 17” 1080p 360hz then I’m very happy.
I’m so used to desktop performance at 1080p so when I got my laptop with 1440p and a mobile 3070Ti I was very disappointed, barely gets 90fps in new COD with quality settings 😅 I tried 1080p but it turns to a smudge fest due to not being native resolution, solution was to plus it into my monitor 😒
I think that 'N' logo is cool. I always wanted nitro to get a unique logo
It's definitely personal preference, my girlfriend liked it, but yeah it's not for me!
1200$ is a bit too much for a Nitro, I might opt for a previous-gen Legion 5 if the RTX 3060 will be faster than the 4050 or at least as fast as it.
@@ACE112ACE112 I'm trying to find a one with a Ryzen 6000 cpu that is on sale but all I find is 2021 versions with a Ryzen 5600H.

Jarrod, why is price in Europe so astronomical ??? I am shocked beyond belief............
i hope they did cuz my predator helios 300 2020 model did not even last after 2 years which my warranty expired after it broke.. QA on acer became trash
What about the build quality?
@@JarrodsTech Thank you, Jarrod. You are one of the two best laptop reviewers! 100% trust in your opinion!
Mentioning an important piece of advice that many viewers have left a few days before in the comment sections of all the new laptops announced in CES this year. Wait till mid february 2023. You can be a 100% sure that the 2022 variants and their prices will decrease by a fair margin and for majority of people out there, 2022 models are more than enough for everything the gaming and productivity world has to offer. Also mentioning the fact that incase the rtx 40 series comes out at appreciable prices then it's a no brainer then :D
So as said above, I'm hoping to see some significant decrease in the pricing of 2022 legion 5 pro or even the legion 7.
yes, but dlss 3.0 seems pretty good from what we have seen, 3000 series is outdated at this point.
I bought the 2022 and I should have waited I think
end of an era where you could buy a decent gaming laptop below 1000usd..
My favourite of this years CES
Still, they have lost my trust for a long time now, this year I'm going with the new Flow X13 :P
The redesigned Nitro looks beautiful imho. Not too Plain, not too "I'm a Gamer so Sharp Lines and red colors everywhere"
I'm so glad I didn't get a laptop last year. With this year's models, I have lots to choose from when the time comes. Legion is still reliable, MSI now all have numpads and Acer, the most common one in my country, has a new look and improved last year's
I got an MSI GE66 with an 12700H and these 13th Gen HX CPUs are such beasts. I wonder if they will always use the three SKUs with 8P/16E cores on most laptops. For instance, the 13700HX with 8P/8E should be faster than the 12700H/13700H with 6P/8E but it's not such a landslide like the top of the line HX CPUs.
@@TheOnlyVit dunno about that. Looking up various articles, both the helios 16 and 18 are gonna start at a little over $1600
@@reaper7910 The problem is not the USD price, which I suppose is before local taxes. The problem is that some of the prices I'm seeing are basically the prices of last year in Euros in my country. So a I feel that something like 2700$ laptop will sure cost at least 3700€ or more.
I have a 23 inch monitor at 1080p and cant notice the pixels 💀
got an 27 inch monitor at 1080p and i also cant notice the pixel during the 3 years having the monitor

To judge any new notebook, we need to await noise under GPU load (Furmark) for the lowest TDPs available. CPUs and Nvidia offer wide ranges but will OEMs implement them giving us the choice? Only then will we know whether all the new combined cooling methods (vapor chamber, liquid metal on possible both chips, 4 fans, thicker chassis, more airflow, better heatpipes, allegedly better fans, better fan control, more metal mass in the notebook etc.) are sufficient. --robert jasiek
