I have a DVD player that acts like a loose cannon; full of bugs, glitches, and a crappy remote, and I really want to watch Sleeping Beauty [via the one from 2008]. This here is the solution...
Walt Disney Home Video [Buena Vista Home Entertainment / Masterpiece Collection / 1996 Feature Presentation bumper: "Thanks for joining us..."] - Krátké a kreslené filmy
The THX Logo did help fit the mood for the movie (even if it had a dark and evil tone to it).
It brings back my childhood memories and it makes me feel so special
Same
Scuttle: This I haven't seen in years. This is wonderful! I wouldn't miss it!
Thanks for joining us for this special preview and now our feature presentation
Of all the stirring legends of the triumph of good over evil, none has ever been so inspirational to me as Sleeping Beauty "Walt Disney"
👍
With a magical Academy Award nominated score adapted from the immortal music of Tchaikovsky,Sleeping Beauty has been digitally remastered for this special limited edition-A cherished classic for every Disney video collection and one your family will enjoy again and again.
This is the great VHS opening I've ever witnessed. I have a true fascination for this movie. The backgrounds (castle, forest, cottage, etc.), and Tchaikovsky's score are perfect, and the scene where Prince Phillip had escape Maleficent's castle and he defeats the dragon, Super Epic. Not to mention, I love the bonus making of documentary at the end. My favorite part about the making of is where the Disney artists talks about how they create the backgrounds to match the story's tone.
Me too
@@ryangomez2093 I bet you do. The movie not only the story blew my mind, but everything else (the art, music, and the animation) brought me to the imagination as well. This film reminded me like I'm at an art show, a classical music concert, and a IMAX 3D Theater (it's like three experiences in one). And 1959 is a fine year not for Disney animation, but in American Cinema in general. "Sleeping Beauty" must be the most expensive films Walt Disney ever made, and it held the record for 4 years until in 1963, 20th Century Fox and Elizabeth Taylor's adaptation of "Cleopatra" took the crown.
@@Kevin-xv9pm No kidding
@@ryangomez2093 Yeah. I don't know how "Cleopatra" gotten more money after it's 1963 opening weekend. But it's the late 50's to the early 60's.
@@Kevin-xv9pm Interesting
A spectacular achievement in the art of animation ,Walt Disneys Sleeping Beauty has awakened-The dazzling beauty of this timeless animated masterpiece now fully restored for the first time.Created in the Disney tradition of Snow White and the seven dwarfs and Cinderella, the unforgettable story is a breathtaking tapestry of charming romance,Majestic spectacle and electrifying adventure.

I originally saw it like this in 1.37:1 (4:3) 480i60 and now 2.55:1 in 1080p24. The difference...
They wanted to look different from any other film they had made before and in this they were aided immeasurably by a very gifted artist named Eyvind Earle who came up with the very stylized and modern look for the film
This film is also one of the Cinemassacre's Top 5 Disney Animated films
This just makes me so happy!

And unfortunately, Alice in Wonderland didn't get re released in 1997 on Home Video, so it was pushed to 1999.

Is there such a thing as the 1997 VHS of Alice in Wonderland? No one has ever released Alice in Wonderland on home video on October 14, 1997.
I imagine if there was, it would be a ‘fully restored limited edition’ that’s THX-certified, with bonus content after the film, and many of the same previews as the Old Yeller 1997 VHS. It would also have Beau Weaver’s variant of the 1992 Feature Presentation ID, in which he says “Thanks for joining us for this special preview. And now, our feature presentation.”
Joe Olitoquit said this in another video I saw:
"The only reason Alice in Wonderland was never issued until 1999 was because in the '3 timeless Disney classics' promo Old Yeller and The Jungle Book were the only 2 left so they just temporarily added Alice in Wonderland there."
