They take a lot of Earth metals that probably aren't all that environmentally friendly to extract, get shipped across the world to be refined into batteries, which may or may not be damaging as well. Then ship it again to the factory. It gets used up over time and I don't know what we do with them at the end of their life cycle, so that may or may not be damaging as well. And then the electricity, if you're in a place that gets its energy from coal or gas plants isn't great for the environment either. So I guess, it more of which way do you want to lose less.
