popular vegetarian restaurant in hubli, oldest restaurant in hubli, suvarna mandir, breakfast, tiffin, puri bhaaji, misal, madke kaalu, hubli, hubbali, north karnataka food tour, hubli food trail, hubli food tour, hubli food veg, hubli food, family run, durgadbail market, durgadbail hubli
Established in 1940, Suvarna Mandir is perhaps Hubballi’s oldest restaurant, if not the oldest. Located amidst the hustle and bustle of Durgadbail market, it’s quite easy to miss the tiny doorway that opens into a courtyard setting in an ancient home from nearly a century ago. Looked after by third generation custodian Mr. Prakash Bhatt, when asked if he was the owner, replied that he was merely taking care of the space like his grandfather and father had before him, this eatery’s charming old school disposition extends to the fare that is served here. Misal, aloo bonda, poori bhaji, madke kaalu, etc. typical Hubli vegetarian breakfast snack fare, but one that is steeped in nostalgia for the locals, and reminiscent of old-fashioned goodness if you happen to be a visitor like me. Hope you enjoy this episode. Take care, stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

I'm from the southern part of maharashtra specifically Sangli and we are very well connected to the state of Karnataka almost all of their food, culture and even the language is a little bit similar to ours marathi spoken down south! More similar with North Karnataka even my family's Kuldaivat are in Karnataka so we used to go there when i was young!
The thing i have noticed is specially in karnataka and maharastra is that people like bhatt who are hotel owners and even smaller resto owners are very well cultured and they take full responsibility of the hygiene that has been maintained and most of them can speak in english! The cultural presence of mind seems to be very high in both of these states, both states people are very simple yet thier small behavioural things make such a huge impact on us!
lots of love to kripal and the team from Mumbai 😀❤️

Fantastic! My must visit place if we are in Hubballi. Thanks for visiting this nostalgic place and every bite of food in Suvarna Mandir is vibrant 😃

One more suggestion, if you can make a video of 10 mins where you tell citywise must visit hotel. It will makes us easy to explore when we are in the city.
