I followed this guy's instruction step by step and honestly he made it far easier than anticipated. I'd heard a lot about challenges with getting the spring wire around bellow, so when I got to that part I got a friend to help and still it was a struggle. So I went back to Steve and did it exactly as he showed and it took two tries. My sincere gratitude to you, Steve!

This dude makes tucking the baffle in between the drum look easy. It’s a major pain! But still better than paying someone else to do the repair.

This is a FANTASTIC video and Steve walked me through the install. Just a major caution: The hardest part is getting that spring loaded band onto the baffle on the outside right at the end of the job. No way it's a one-man job to do this spring band. You need someone to hold the band in place while you use TWO needle nose plies to spread the spring out at the 6 oclock position. Last thing you want to do is puncture the baffle you just replaced with the needle nose pliers as you finish up with this spring band trying to do it yourself. Otherwise, I commend Steve for you great video.

Thanks for this video, it helped me a lot. Of course the part does not come with any instruction. One important tip given is the one to use a little soapy water to lube the bellows going in. I needed a second set of hands to get the outer spring clamp on and used two sets of needle nose pliers to spread the spring to get it over it's ridge while my wife held the rest in place. No leaks, we're happy! Thanks again.

thank you very much for this video,
getting that baffle started was a pain in the butt,
I , at first, was trying to install the baffle backwards. that was a fun 15 minutes.
once I flipped it and could feel how it went it it was just a matter of perseverance, man vs machine...
I kept getting half of it on then it would somehow pop out and I'd have to start over.
then we brought in another set of hands to keep is stable.
this was when I could see light at end of tunnel.
overall took me a little over an hour,
doing it again, i'm sure i could trim off 20 minutes.
Good Luck to the next guy or gal.

  • @melissavahdati122

Great video!! However this is harder than than it looks! This man is a professional and it shows… My first problem was trying to get the new baffle between the drum and the outside cylinder. After 2 hours I gave up and went at it again the next day, took me an hour the second day to get it in place... Use plenty of windex or cleaning solution to lubricate it, it definitely helps.
The second problem was the ring with the spring. It easily took my son and I 10 try’s to get it. Every time the baffle would pull loose.
I have run a load of clothes and no leaks!! Yay!
Next time I will not think twice, and pay a professional!

You are my hero! I was able to do everything on the repair except install the second wire/spring on the front part of the bellow. Using the needle nose pliers that you showed, along with a couple plastic bicycle spanners (normally used for mounting bicycle tires onto rims), I was able to mount that wire/spring and complete the repair. And nothing leaks! Thank you so much for posting this!

Great instructions! My Whirlpool Duet is slightly different but I took pictures as I was taking things apart and was able to get it back together again along with this video. As other have stated, the 2nd spring clamp is a serious pain but with another pair of hands holding and many attempts, I was finally able to get it on. It took me about 2 1/2 hours plus a sanity break while putting the clamp on. Thank you so much, I never would have been able to complete this repair without you.

Thank you for sharing this video! It was very helpful with some great tips. I changed the bellowe in my WFW9050XW00 today and the only difference from the model you did was there was no screw at the bottom (in the centre) of the control panel. The left side screw for the panel it’s a Torx head bit as well for some reason. Great job on the video! Thanks again!

  • @josephshields3828
    @josephshields3828 Před 3 lety

This was very helpful. We replaced our moldy seal with a new one. The one issue we had was the wire assembly for the door lock became unplugged and we didn't realize it before putting all the panels back on. On trying to run a cycle, the light for "door lock" was red but the door would not lock and the cycle did not start. We had to take everything back off to realize our mistake. So I suggest double checking all wire connections before putting everything back together. Took about 2 hrs start to finish, but we basically had to do everything twice.

This video helped immensely. It took me a little longer because I had to move my washer out of the room. For the spring loaded front band, I used needle nosed pliers and needle nosed vise grips. The needle nosed vice grips held one side of the spring, while I pulled the other side with the needle nose pliers.

It should mostly drain through the holes at the 6 o'clock position. I usually have about a tablespoonful of water there which I will wipe out with a rag. If you leave the door open between loads of wash it may evaporate, if you close door with that little bit of water in it, it will get pretty nasty in a day or two.

Hello, when researching your Whirlpool model number the part # W10290499 was the original part for your model. Unfortunately, Whirlpool has discontinued the part and has made a substitution part #WPW10381562. If the part is not fitting correctly I would suggest to contacting the manufacture directly to see if they have one closest to the original that will fit and work properly for your model.
