Highly unlikely unless they can get 500k- a million subs pretty quickly. Money doesn't grow on trees. They have to be able to cover the cost of the cars, parts, camera equipment, editing equipment, travel, fuel, and their living wage! It's a big ask! For a small channel.

The channel is dead. The camera man has moved to another channel , the mechanic has started a new channel with somebody else and the owner of the channel has cut their budget. They're no longer allowed to buy new cars either. I wouldn't get your hopes up on seeing any videos any time soon on here.

Alex saying there’s a big & exciting announcement coming up, Edwin leaving CT, Alex making a insta story with Ethan about something new happening few weeks back, Alex meeting up with his financial advisor, Rory saying that they “will need a bigger couch” in the unit on a comment, them get rid/ finishing videos with all their existing cars ( which are CT owned) and the sad music isn’t just a coincidence.
I think it’s the end of CT as we know it. Hope for some new stuff happening.

Totally - Jack saying he hopes he can keep the car & that it’s his favourite that he had from the show, plus the music & goodbye.. feels like they’re saving the Volvo and saying goodbye while they have the chance.
I also have a feeling they are finishing off with the cars as they are CT owned.

@@OG-97Dennis publishing (the same company the owns car buyer & auto express) bought out CT back In December 2019. Alex left for the same reason & he discussed it on the first Ep1 of his podcast as well as more depth on the The Road to Success Podcast with Ben Fowler. Alex leaving also pissed off the management and that why he wasn’t back so often even though he was supposed to be working as a freelancer. Edwin covered why he left on his insta post last week. They have little budget & they can’t make videos that they want as all has to be approved before.

@@AK.2425 Dennis sold CT on again. Since last year it's been part of Crash Media Group. Dennis didn't seem to know what to do with the channel, it only seemed to make a come back with regular videos since Crash took over and Edwin became a regular presenter.

thank god the channel finally died, who wants to watch a channel run by middlemen just out to make a profit who have puppets out to film in front of the camera. This channel is not what CZcams was designed for. This was a long time coming, I've been tracking this channel for years (I work in this space, not a hobby)

As someone from family with close to ten of these older volvos you can have it sitting for ten and it'd probably fire right up. Also mileage, well you can't really find these up here in north at under 500k km because they just do not break.
Yep, 275k miles doesn’t really qualify a Volvo as a high-mileage car. It’s in its prime!

This does feel like the end of the Clarkson, Hammond and May era of top gear. Contractually obliged video. The goodbye at the end felt more like a permanent one. The fact Ethan turned up in an autoalex vid a while back spoke volumes to me. It would be sooner rather than later.

CT has been bought in 2023 by crash media group. On their website there are couple of job adverts for car throttle: Social Media Manager and Junior Production Assistant. Latter payin.... UP TO £22k (in London!) for pretty much doing EVERYTHING on the channel. List of duties include:
Working on Car Throttle cars in between filming
Towing and moving cars
Ordering and collecting parts
Working on behind the scenes tasks in the production process
General running for shoots
Scripting
Booking locations, travel and accommodation
Speaking to tracks, dealerships, clients, transport, mechanics
Sorting Insurance, managing the Car Throttle fleet and the bay
Conducting crowd control by putting up signs, directing pedestrians away from filming, lock down sets etc.
Perform administrative work (answering phones, paperwork etc.)
Undertake errands as assigned
Anyone surprised why this channel is dead?

£22k a year for being a mechanic, driver, parts manager, runner, writer, resource co-ordinator, administrator and crowd controller? And that's a "junior assistant", you'd need at least 10 years working experience in various roles in order to do all of those to a decent standard.

Unlike an old Volvo, I don't think CT can come back from this neglect. I hope Jack and Ethan make the move elsewhere, but I'll still have a lot of respect for them both if they don't. As Alex said in that long interview, I really respect the security of being employed rather than self-employed, but I really think AA and TDC are going places, great places, and those places will be brighter still if Jack and Ethan come along too. Lots of love for all you guys.
I don’t think they’d join Alex, there’s no way he could pay them both the salaries they was earning. They both have camera,presenting and editing experience at a big channel, they’ll probably just get a production job. I’d like to be wrong though

From someone who lives in a country where a lot of people still daily these old Volvos (2,7,9&8 series) I'm not surprised that it started so easy. They're durable, comfortable to drive and cheap to maintain.
I used to daily an 88 240 b200e sedan to work until I was cut off on the motorway and smashed the front corner. Now I'm waiting for insurance money and driving a Polo.
These volvos is like a plauge during Swedish winters. Drifting everywhere, love it!

These high mileage cars amaze me 🤯 most people see a car with 60, 70 or even 80,000 miles and believe it's on its last legs but these car have so so much more to give. As long as they are maintained well they will last ages.
Honestly my old 9-3 estate is the best car ownership experience I've had. It looks after me and with minimal effort from me it just keeps going. Can park it anywhere and not care if it gets a scratch or door ding is brilliant

Car throttle gave me the courage to buy a high mileage car, was struggling with dealers so got out of the warranty and got a cheap vw passat estate with 165k miles and loved every second of it the past 4 months of currently owning it
I'd love one of those. The cheapest car I ever bought, was a £270 Volvo 850 in the same colour as that. It had absolutely nothing wrong or broken on it. It still ranks as one of my favourite cars I've owned. It was so comfy and reliable. ❤
Come to sweden and fix it for cheap. We have Europe's biggest Volvo Scrapyard in Jönköping as well as a DIY Workshop were you can rent some space (P7an).
Last vid of the proper Car Throttle hosts. God, history is repeating itself, as I always considered Car Throttle to be the Top Gear of CZcams. Now thanks to corporate messing 2 unlikeable and boring presenters gave been shoehorned into their place to poke the dead horse that is the Car Throttle CZcams channel with a stick.

Tldr: Edwin left for the same reason Alex did a while ago (management being problematic). And the outro of this video (and some other hints throughout the community) it seems to indicate CT on CZcams is kinda on its last breath, because the entire video just screams “the end” to me

Reading the comments about it perhaps being the end for CT videos is concerning but as long as everyone gets onto their next big thing and we get some good videos that is the main thing. Hopefully we won't get a total refresh on CT with Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Eddie Jordan turning up as it just won't be the same.

They’ve been finishing off all of the projects that are most likely car throttle owned I think this one was the last on the list. It a shame since I’ve been watching car throttle since I was 11 but all good things must come to an end.

This was a good episode, not because of anything amazing happened but because that's just how car life is and it really highlights what it's like to own older vehicles

@@Ben-fk9eyI mean to say low budget is an understatement.. The sponsor is a mattress store which is very out of place (though they made the ad work, so props for that), and realistically a battery isn’t expensive either.
Besides that, it just sounds like they’re on the way out, especially with that goodbye

Had an old 850 saloon many years ago. Still the most comfortable car I ever owned. Felt like driving on a cloud. It certainly liked a drink which was the main reason I had to move it on but miss the comfort.

They are such an enigma. On paper they should be the least interesting and most boring cars to experience. But they always seem to put a smile on the face of anyone who has one.
I plan to keep my 2001 xc70 on the road as long as I possibly can! Even if the MPG ruins me financially because I got the petrol instead of the diesel 😅

I've never seen a car get mouldy like that here in Australia. Regardless of it's been flood damaged, leaks water, lives in the super humid tropical areas, never seen it 😅
I hope you do a bit of a project on this, engine is super capable and the chassis will get good with some poly bushes and proper set of coilovers!

Love a Volvo estate. My parents had numerous over the years, but none will ever be quite like the 940 Celebration they had in silver. Something about the way it turned over then surged into life was intoxicating to by child self.

fit a manual boost controller and a boost gauge for a video. It unlocks a crazy amount of power. It will change the car completely. The locking diff goes hard on these too. Super easy to make it into a cheap skid car.
