- North Sentinel island is located far into the Indian Ocean in the chain of islands called the Andaman and Nicobar Islands which is a territory of India. The island is about the size of Manhattan and its illegal to travel here because the island is home to the planet’s most isolated hunter-gatherer society.
The Sentinelese tribe could range anywhere from 15-500 people but there’s no way of knowing for certain. What we do know is that they do not wish to be contacted as they have resisted any and all contact with the outside world for up to 60,000 years. Nothing is known about their language, they hunt with bows and arrows and they are completely untouched by modern civilization. Today’s so-called un-contacted people all have a history of contact, whether from exploitation or simply seeing a plane flying overhead. What I’ve come to realize is that there are no people who are isolated by accident or have somehow managed to stay completely unaware of the modern times- it’s more that there is this deep rooted fear or defiance of the outside world. Also, the Sentinelese and other isolated tribes around the world are extremely vulnerable to any foreign contact because they have virtually zero immunity to our diseases and could very quickly be wiped out by the exposure.
Pitcairn Island is a British Overseas Territory situated 3,300 miles from New Zealand and no plane or helicopter has ever landed there, so getting there requires a 32-hour cargo ship journey. In the 1700’s this island was settled by a real life ship full of mutineers. The mutineers were running from British Naval ships when they found the uninhabited Pitcairn Island and decided to hide there by sinking their ship after they landed. Today there are around 50 people living on Pitcairn Island which is not much larger than Central Park.
Tristan da Cunha island is said to be the world’s most remote inhabited archipelago which also happens to be on an active volcano. The closest other people to this little town is 1200 miles away in St. Helena and it's 1700 miles away from South Africa. Can you imagine living there?? There’s less than 300 people who call this place home which still feels like a surprising amount of people.
La Rinconada, Peru is the highest human habitation in the world, and it is home to some of the most brutal living conditions in the world. The town is built at an astonishing height of 16,700 feet. The town is accessible only by braving a dangerous mountainside road covered in ice and the journey can take several days. Its unclear exactly how many people live in La Rinconada because there’s a totally lack of government regulation but it’s estimated to be as many 50,000 live here. The motivation to live in this harsh landscape? Gold mining.
The Russian town of Oymyakon also known as the coldest inhabited place on earth. It takes two days to get there, traveling down a barren and isolated stretch of road from the closest city in Siberia. Temperatures there average around -58° F during the winter months in this area of Northeastern Russia. Daylight only lasts for 3 hours in the winter but it’s light out for 21 hours in the summer. Around 500 people live in this remote community!!

Have you traveled to any isolated places?
Not yet, because that types of island are not available in our country. But I went some scary place where people never want go for superstition.
NoT till Now !
Probably I'll Go In Future 😁
The islolated
Sentinalese island that mentioned in this video belongs to my country India 🇮🇳....
I'm proud of it....
Yes my grans house the WIFi is a shocker 😮😰😤😫😂
The most isolated place I have been to is Rapa Nui. Not the most isolated place in the world, but still very isolated.
I didnt know those places exist!!! But now they are in my bucketlist!!!
Missionary- you want to meet jesus
Santinalist - you first
Sentinelese
i read it as satanilist tf
I recently visited Andaman & Nicobar islands. Nearly a couple of years ago an American tried to reach the Sentilese Island. Media says he tried to bring Christianity, however there is a theory that he tried to collect their genes for any unknow experiment. The Indian government only once established connection with them by giving them fruits as gifts. But now the navy guards them, & it's virtually impossible to visit or see them!!
This is such an interesting and unique topic, Lexie! I very much enjoyed this video (as I do with all your videos!) Thank you! ^-^
That's so good to hear Madeline! Thanks :)
This was a good topic to talk about
Super interesting video. Had me go down the CZcams rabbit hole after this to learn more about some of these islands! Great work!
I am so happy I found your channel! My gosh it feels like it was meant to be. Thank you so much Lexie- I hope you know you make a lot of people very happy. Your a gem 💎!! ❤️
This is so interesting! I remember learning about Palmerston Island during a class I took in college. Thanks for sharing this Lexie!
Wow that's awesome! What class?
@@LexieLimitless It was a sociology class at UGA :)
I have heard about a isolated COUNTRY it’s called
NORTH KOREA
What truly fascinates me is those who are ‘isolated’ not by virtue if landscape or physical accessibility but rather by ideology etc the people who ‘live amongst us’ but are entirely separate
I'm not sure I understand who you are talking about!
Can you do a video on your scariest travel stories? That would be really interesting!!! Great video btw!!!
I will definitely make another video about this! Here's one video about a scary travel experience: czcams.com/video/B4mmmaTsoaM/video.html
This is a masterpiece ms Alford I hope you and Thomas and friends are well❤ as an ask would you do a video about my country Zimbabwe and what you enjoyed, thought and hated?
Thanks! I loved Zimbabwe, went bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge which was amazing.
Such a cool video! I thought of Banaba Island, which is part of the Republic of Kiribati. It used to be the capital of Kiribati until they changed it to Tarawa. Nowadays, the only public transport to Banaba is a cargo ship that visits every 3 months, with a two day boat ride one-way.
Thanks for the inspiring videos Lexie! I always look forward to watching them. :D
Wow I haven't heard of Banaba but I've visited Tarawa. So interesting, what a world we live in
THis is a really well shot video Lexie! Absolutely loved it ✨♥✨
I love your videos and must admit I’m very envious of all the places you have been! I’ve only traveled to 5 countries so far.
Lexie will you please do a video on 'What's in my backpack"? That's much needed!
Your videos seem to outdo each previous one, this is so interesting I wish it was much longer
That's so good to hear Lorri! Thanks :)
So intresting and topical!! Love learning about the world and feel like I'm traveling to far off places while in lockdown!
I do too!
You know their is like 7 or 8 small island that haven't any covid-19 cases. And Palmerston and Tristan DeCunda 2 on this list are the case. Well no airport #1 and #2 they don't see all that many visitors in the 1st place so when they get news of covid-19 well of course they're not going to let anyone visit. And really you can't blame them.
Amazing Video Lexie 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks!
Thanks for the beautiful information 😍🌸
I love how researched and educational your videos are. You should have a geography series for teens
Loving your videos :) you just earned yourself another subscriber! Keep up the amazing work
This is awesome. You wouldn’t think it but some small communities in the outer Hebrides, islands in northern Scotland, were isolated like this well into the middle of the last century.
This is so cool! Thanks for making this video:)
Great video!!
Very informative. Thank you 👍
Really quite interesting! I knew of some these places, but others I had never heard of. Thank you!
omg I love this video so much! can you give me any advice on how to travel to countries that are currently somewhat unsafe? i would love to travel to all the countries in the world but i am afraid of possible unsafe conditions? BTW LOVE UR CHANNEL AND LOVE UR BOSS GIRL VIBES!
I'll definitely be making videos on this topic since it's such an important one :) I touch on the subject a bit here: czcams.com/video/Ey07SS1ItV0/video.html
Great research and interesting CZcams video Lexie 👍🙃
That's really interesting!! Lexie, do you stay in touch with people you met during your trips?? Did you make a lot of friends? I'm anxious to the day I'll be able to meet a lot of places, cultures and people. Your videos are amazing and interesting! ❤
Amazing CZcams content , I love seeing the beautiful pictures you make of every country ☺️It makes me dream and you show us that every country is beautiful in its own way 💗
Love from Switzerland ❤️❤️

Thank you! :)
I love your vlogs! They're so interesting and your angelic sweet voice!!
Hi
So cool! Hope you pop off and go viral real soon!
Thanks, I really appreciate that!
Super interesting video!!
Really enjoyed this video! Kind of reminds me of a lecture in high school but it's done by a peer instead of a teacher.
So cool to hear about such isolated places and the stories behind them!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Love your videos ❤️
Thanks
So I’m assuming a lot of incest happened on Palmerston Island since all the children were half siblings and there were no other families on the island? 🥴
Who knows! You'll have to travel there to better understand their story :)
the new alabama lol
Well almost. You'd sleep with 1 of your 1/2 cousins but not your sister.
Video about your most intresting travel stories will be amazing♥️
eagerly waiting for your new video.. love your expedition.. you are my favourite 😍😍
Thank you!
2nd to view vlog and comment, but 1st to hit thumbs up. I enjoyed it.
Thank you!
I think this is your most interesting video. I'd heard of some of these places, but not others.
You're smile is contagious :)
This is a fascinating topic. It's always curious how people live in remote places
Hey Lexie! I travelled to the Andamans in October 2019. It's true, the North Sentinel Islanders are isolated and have given very aggressive every time they were contacted. However, when I was in Andaman I visited an unexplored region called the Baratang Island which too is inhabited with an isolated community called the 'Jarawa'. The Jarawa tribe communicates with the forest department officials only, as they're a protected tribe.
Wow I loved this video so much ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you
Definitely a topic that fascinates me as well. There is a Dutch travel journalist who makes a tv series about visiting people who chose to live in the middle of nowhere. She visits them and gets to know the person, their reasons, and what their life is like. Super interesting!
I literally have an obsession with the north sentinel island ever since I came across it. It just shows how the world could've been so diffrent if we went back 1000 years and started over
Hi Lexie. How are you doing? I am from Colombia and I am really happy watching yur videos. Thanks.
intersting video! more videos about your epic world travel please.
So interesting to know that you have traveled to each and every country by 21? So far my count is 7 😀 and I really amazed to see this video and the way giving so much info about the places.
Hey I'm your new subscriber from India love your vlogs ❤️
I really enjoy your content. And I've got a sugesstion. Can you do a video about Bangladesh. Lots of love from England.
This is a good topic.
this was such a unique topic. i'm from Norfolk island which is an island in between Australia and new zealand. the people there, are direct descendants of the pitcairn islanders you mentioned!!! so this was really cool to hear about my people mentioned in your video
Love your videos
Also love you!💙
@aBu rAyhan - so thirsty!
@@kevinp8108 no i am not.
All the love are not same bro.
Thank you!
I've been to both Palmerston and Pitcairn.. Great places with great people living on them ! :)
I had some preconceptions about you. Watching your videos, however, proved all of them wrong haha. You are legit! Also, as you probably won't go back to other videos to respond: How can you join a travel agency (as an outsider) to get that inside information and earnings?
this channel is one of the only reasons i still watch youtube
Thank you! I appreciate that
Thank you Lexie for telling the story of Sentinelese which are part of our country India❤❤ .Sentinelese are most isolated tribe in the world which is in Andaman Islands and very few islands are habitable out of many islands due to regulation of govt of India for protection of tribal people.
I hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching
I Loved your videos exploring amazing videos so many places
I remember reading about North Sentinel Island and how the natives there refuse all contact from the outside world. It is very interesting to see how most of us would not want to be very isolated yet there are people who are very content with it. Like what you were saying, I can understand how different diseases can be very deadly to people not exposed to the rest of the world. I know that was certainly the case when Europeans first settled in the Americas centuries ago. This is a great video topic! If you were given the opportunity to visit an isolated location where the locals would not be very apprehensive about foreigners visiting them, would that be something you would like to do someday?
Thanks for sharing! I'm not sure if I would visit them, it would really depend on the circumstances
Well this is quite an exciting n learning experience thank you
This informative video is really really charming for me. Being an adventure fanatic I wish to visit these places mentioned in the video if possible. Whenever I read any story of Jule Bern about island and ocean, I literally feel that I am personally exist in that story.
Thank you! I hope we both get to visit some of these places someday! Just not North Sentinel
@@LexieLimitless Sure, that will be a great chance for me to travel with a highly experienced explorer like you. I hope that day come soon. And of course not in that island, because we may not alive if we get close to them.
Yeah please do not go to the One island that will kill you if you enter their land.
Interesting!
Thanks!
trully amazing content! cannot believe about the first example of the missionary guy, like, what the hell, no one ever had entered in that place, and he tried to force a religion there? crazy... anyway Lexie, keep posting this kind of videos! really appreciate your videos!
ps: Why u dont have in your channel that "be a member" tool? greetings from Brazil!
So So Cool!
Lexie! I have a question for you. Since you’ve literally been to every country in the world, do you still feel like Los Angeles where u live, is the best place to live in for you?
Great video lovely Lexie!!! ❤ Such an interesting topic!!!
Thank you!
Lexie, in your journey to the world record what are some of the most remote & isolated places that you've travelled to? And what were your impressions of the places? I thought the video is about that initially lol. I live in UK but I'm probably more isolated than all of those people in the video lol :D
Hi Lexi!! I’ve love your videos and have been following your journey! I just had a question. I am in the process of applying to the Peace Corps, and as someone who has traveled literally everywhere I am wondering what your opinions on it are? Have you heard good things? Bad things? Have you seen them do good and make a poussive impact? Just wondering thanks!!
Mind blowing 🚀
I am so excited for the south Korea travel vlog
I am obsessed with your channel!! I have also done a lot of research on these isolated places/cultures because they fascinate me. @Lexie Limitless what is the most remote place you have traveled to?
Curious Topic 🤩
Thanks!
@@LexieLimitless You Are Welcome ❤️
I guess Oymyakon is fasmous for their extreme temperature conditions, but in Siberia are more isolated inhabited places. Anyway very insteresting video. Tristan da Cunha is on my bucket list long time
would love to hear about your travels from around the world
That's what I'm here on CZcams to tell :)
Awesome
Thanks!
I suggest you should check out Whittier in Alaska, who is actually a small town made out of just one big facility where every citizen lives, studies or work. Each activity has a specific floor but they are literally all together, and that drives me crazy. On the top of that the only way to access is through a mountain tunnel so that they can actually lock themselves in like castles in the middle age! That's sick. Anyway, hope you my best and please continue to inspire young explorers like me :)
Wow....I honestly didn't know places like these existed, especially when we are always used to living in cities surrounded by skyscrapers, homes and factories. 👍
It's such a different way of life!
Lexie!!! this was a really great video!!! btw i'd really if you came to Algeria (i know u read my message on instagram haha)
Thanks! Yes, I've been to Algiers
My favourite channel for tourism is yours and yes theory
How can these people stay disconnected !? Seems interesting to know more about it. Do make more such knowledgeable videos. 👍
Isn't it interesting how they've done it?? I highly recommend reading more about them :)
love from andaman lexie
Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🙏🙏🙏
Very interesting. Who knew.
There's so many cool places like this out there!
That’s surprising!! Like always regards from Colombia 🇨🇴 jajajja 😅😅👌😁
If anyone speak Spanish I recommend a channel that explains every place that Lexie mention the only one that they already didn’t talk about was the one of the Cook Islands 🇨🇰 #unmundoinmenso
That’s the name of the channel🖐🤚🇨🇴👍🌍😁👌🙃🤝🇵🇼
Hey Lexi, I shared a google doc with you. I planned a trip around the world (to every single country in the world)
Awesome info collected here! Wonder if that town in Russia is feeling the recent heat wave....
That's a good question, I'm not sure
Interesting
I am blessed to know you
Thanks
Let me tell y'all a fact about St. Helena Island
