Wish the same can be said for the other two, Sly died off after 4 and Jak & Daxter didn't even make it to PS3, as depressing as it is.
Ay, but Crash sold extremely well so there might be a platforming comeback.
Prism King I didn't grow up with the PS1 generation, however I did have Nitro Kart as a kid and am playing it to completion at the present. Buying up the original trilogy to see what I missed out on.

Sly 2 and Crash Twinsanity were the best games on the PS2 (IMO)
There's also a cheat code for Sly 2: Band of Thieves that lets you use TOM from Toonami as a gadget for Sly. You'd basically throw out a miniature TOM that would yell "Hey!" and distract guards like the alarm clock gadget.
Similarly, in the third game, Honor Among Thieves, there's a cheat code to alter the skin of Sly's fighter plane to that of a more Toonami-themed design.

What i *_wouldn't_* give to try out those beta versions of Sly 1. I still remember unlocking that "Behind the Scenes" video in Sly 3 and being mesmerized by how Sly 1 looked a couple years before the final game would ship.
I'd kill to play that Monaco level.

I love the Sly Cooper series so much. Part of me wishes that more superhero games would follow more ideas from the Sly games, such as having individual hubs and levels devoted to a villain instead of just a big dumb sandbox with side quests thrown in

I NEED a new Sly Cooper game. They are far beyond the best platformers of all time. The satisfaction you get when you pick pocket or land on something with the circle button, right on the tip with a spin.
I've never played a Sly Cooper game, but watching them being played is still wildly entertaining, everything to the way Sly moves the the ambience of the levels to the way you get new abilities, it's all very tactile even from a spectator perspective, that's a stand-out mark of good game design in my book.
_I'm thinking of convincing my mom to buy a bunch of old PS2 games, the Ratchet and Clank & Sly Cooper series' are among that list. __-Also the original Spyro games for the PlayStation because FUCK YES for backwards compatibility.-_

A very underrated game you should look for on the ps2 which is called The Bouncer it's a great game and the main character design is what inspried sora design from kingdom hearts. (It was made by square enix.)
Ratchet and Clank, Sly and Sonic are the reason why I loved my PS2.

@@tangerinetech5300 Penelope being a villain is far from the biggest problem. The whole plot in general is just plain terrible. Let's start with the Penelope issue. Her betrayal comes completely out of the left field, with zero development. Her only motivation is money, which she hasn't shown any interest towards in Sly 3, making the betrayal really out of character.
Second is the time travel. Time travel is a plot device that's near impossible to make work well and they blew it big time in Sly 4. The way the time machine works is laughable at best. It takes you to the *year* when an object was made, yet the Sly gang always coincidentally ends up on the exact *day* and place they need to be in to stop the villains. Don't even get me started on how they always *coincidentally* stumble upon the objects they need. This is especially terrible with the ice age level. Which also has a really big second issue. Sly never knew about Bob even though he has read the Thievious Raccoonus. So how does Le Paradox know about him?
Now let's talk about Le Paradox himself. He gets screwed over by Sly's father once and suddenly wants the whole family lineage erased, but instead of just going over and murdering Sly's dad he just sits around and does nothing for a few decades. Then he gets a time machine with unlimited potential, but barely does anything with it. And what he does is unnecessarily convoluted. He could've just gone to Bob and ended the whole lineage, instead he goes to multiple eras. Which also shouldn't work, because he already stole Bob's cane in the past, which means rest of the ancestors shouldn't have theirs in the first place. All of this is just an excuse to get Sly and the player to meet his ancestors. This isn't a real plot. This is a fanfiction. At best.
The game play is fine though. I can admit that.(except for the final boss, which is the worst and most disappoiting I've ever seen)

rosenrot234 at the time of making thives in time, the plan was clearly to have a 5th game, the studio only got to make 1 new game and ported 3 old ones, it's obvious they wanted to make another one, I don't think it's their fault either since they were fans of the series, soni probably shot them down or something like usual.

@masde The game kinda lost me when it had Bentley's girlfriend be a bad guy. That sucked! The final villain was also very weak because they so clearly wanted to just lop it off and put it onto another game. Oh well. Least I got to hear Matt Mercer as the Cowboy ancestor.
I liked Sly 4 and it's story, it just could have been done better.

Sly Cooper holds a special place in my heart as it was my first video game I ever played. Still have my three original Sly Cooper discs hung up on the wall.
Sly 4 was....really tragic. Because yes they successfully recreated all of the things that made the first three games so good. But they didn't know HOW to use all those elements. Penelope betraying Bently for financial reasons was a particularly ANNOYING issue since it grated hard against her character from Sly 3 who was NEVER motivated by money.
PLUS Sly left the vault for the gang. Money really shouldn't be an issue

As jarring as her betrayal was, it wasn't (entirely) for financial reasons. Like Dr. M, she thought Bentley was wasting his talent and intelligence on Sly, and so wanted Sly dead. She says so herself. Bentley said that line about money, because he misunderstood her motives.
This means Sly 5 is confirmed guys, I can FEEEEEEEEEEELLLLL IT!!!!

+Dante The Driver The only reason why it did not sell well is because Sony never once advertise the 4th Sly game, but yeah Sony doesn't want to publish another Sly game since Sly 4 sold poorly. So believe it or not, they are turning Sly into a Disney XD cartoon like they did with Hotel Transylvania (Sony: the brilliant company that brought us the Emoji movie and are currently bringing us a solo Venom film franchise that will NEVER HAVE A SPIDER MAN APPEARANCE).
Hopefully Sucker Punch will eventually go back and develop a 5th Sly game.
Sanzaru did a great job with Sly 4 but it just didn't feel like a Sly game, there was no humor no love
+Lanky That's because they NEVER ADVERTISED THE GAME. Hell, I was the only person to pre-order the game at my Gamestop and the ONLY way I found out about this game is by looking up if they're making a new Sly game once ever year.

I REALLY hope we get a new game to see what happens after Sly 4, curious to see if he stays, or if the group somehow finds him. None the less a great series, watched my friend play and beat them all, a definite classic, even #4.

Man... I have to replay these at some point. Sly Cooper might be the best series coming out on the PS2 and unlike Jak & Daxter it had very consistent tone throughout. But they still managed to surprise the player.

Oh, God, I love the Sly Series! I STILL replay ALL of them every couple of years or so! They have aged like fine wine, and they're the rare games I never get sick or bored of at any point*, no matter how many times I replay them! I feel the same joy as I did playing them the first time, all the time, every time. It's amazing.
(*Sly 1 driving stages not included as I have effectively exorcised them from my memory as a way of keeping my extremely loose grip on my sanity more or less intact-ish)

Okay sly fans, this is a tough one but, which sly game is your favorite?
Mines is sly 3, despite the super short story I like being able to play as all the characters and their unique abilities. Then it'd be 2 cause it introduced us to the other gang members so we don't just play as sly 24/7. Next would be 1, idk what it is about 1 that made it so fun but a health system was much needed cause that clockwork boss fight was straight hell,best story imo. Last BUT definitely not least is sly 4, the story didn't make the best sense but it was still ok, while the story may have fell flat the quests and adventures make up for it as well as being able to play as sky's ancestors

Thieves in Time was a fairly good game. The visuals and overall style of the gameplay (including multi-stage boss fights) were great. It lacked difficulty IMO, and some character portrayals were a bit odd. Not a bad game at all though.

SLY COOPER 1 was ok,2 was a bit better but SLY COOPER 3 was the most fun of the 3 and is still a ton of fun today! I love to make Carmelita chase in Italy,I just find it beyond funny that she tries so hard to jump so high and she is never able to get me down the highest point in that level.
I feel like Sly Cooper's ideas are also based on the Japanese Manga series/ adult cartoon series "Lupin III"
This and Ratchet and Clank were my childhood.
The first one was really unique now that I think about it; I can't think of any other Stealth Platformer combinations that I've played.
