  • We are currently 35 days into a 40 night cruise on P&O’s Arcadia. We look at nine things that have surprised us on board
    The nine surprises were:
    1 The wonderful Palladium Theatre
    2 The masses of Art work on board
    3 Bean to cup Coffee in the Buffett
    4 Lovely Scones at tea time
    5 Great Hot chocolate at bed time
    6 Poor demarkation of Smoking arrangements from non smoking areas
    7 Shortages of Prosecco, walnuts, sparkling water, tomatoe sauce
    8 Shore excursion disorganised in the mornings
    9 Excessive Ship movement in fairly calm seas
    Look out for videos about entertainment and food and cruise ports to follow.

    Hello thank you for your video. Arcadia is my favourite ship. Have sailed 3 different legs of her annual World Cruise.Booked to sail on her to Norway in 2023. I live in Australia,🙃

    Been on Arcadia several times and the size is just fine for us unlike our recent cruise on the giant Iona! do agree with you about the theatre! Enjoyed your video and thank you! 👏👍

      Yes the big ship small ship debate really does divide opinion. I think P&O are going after a younger family market with both Arvia and Iona. MamaJane doesn’t fancy going on Iona again whereas her husband would if the price was right :) Palladium on Arcadia is outstanding

    Wow, the Palladium Theatre really is attractive and nicely laid out/designed.
    Art work features on Azura also throughout the ship, with some specially commissioned pieces.
    Shortage of Tomato sauce.....well that's unforgivable 😏and liable to incite stirrings of mutiny !

      We've cruised on Arcadia since her Inaugural Cruise in 2005 and found she's always had a wide range of night time drinks available up in The Belvedere none were rationed unlike the fruit😂

    Really enjoyed your video but it has worried me! My daughter and I are doing our first ever cruise next June from Southampton to Guernsey. My daughter is convinced she is going to be ill and you mentioned the Arcadia seems to move more than other ships!!!!

    • @mamajaneshusband
      @mamajaneshusband  Před 11 měsíci +1

      So people’s reaction to cruising varies considerably and some do have sea sickness. Most people are absolutely fine. Take some pills with you just in case. If you are going to Guernsey then you are probably doing a Northern Europe cruise and usually in June the seas are calm in my experience and Arcadia should be fine. Now what you do need to be aware of is that Guernsey is a tender port. That means that the ship doesn’t dock but anchors and people are transported into the dock by the life boats. This can be a little bit more rocky than the cruise ship. We did our first every cruise to Guernsey and had a brill time. We saw doliphins when on the tender!! Apparently this is not uncommon :) Enjoy

    • @Paulad39uk
      @Paulad39uk Před 11 měsíci +1

      If you're going on a short taster cruise to Guernsey you should both be fine but if your daughter is worried she can get anti sickness medication over the counter at a chemist, Stugeron or Kwells are good take them as directed by your chemist.

    Great video and very informative. One point I don't understand though, as a non smoker, I understand there still must be smoking areas, where do you suppose they should be? Smoke and smells will always drift.

      @@barrysedgwick4592 It is difficult to move away from smoke as it usually follows you I don't agree with banning smoking in any way shape or form but the smoking areas on Arcadia are badly thought out. They should be away from eating areas and areas where most people walk but should be easily accessible for those who wish to smoke maybe on one of the upper decks at the back of the ship.

    I hope non smokers send written complaints to P and O about the smoking areas inconveniencing the non smokers. The smoking areas should be in a housed/enclosed dedicated area so the smoke can't waft off over non smokers.

      I’m glad you didn’t find the movement on board as bad as we did. The hull is the same design as Queen Elizabeth, neither are built specifically for transatlantic travel, only Queen Mary 2 is designed for that task. We crossed the Atlantic on QE in much rougher conditions with a much smoother ride.
