    I'm at a crossroads and was depressed for my entire life cause neither my family nor myself accepted me for who I was (lots of childhood trauma). After many years of struggle with therapists only giving temporary relief it finally starts to make sense. Finally someone makes logical arguments for what is going on with me.

    At around 3:58 a realization hit me. I don’t have a background in psychology or mathematics, so I actually have no grounds or advanced level information to prove this, but there are 8 cognitive functions (which create the 16 types) and I’m sure it’s somehow tied to the fact that in the world of computers/electronics, everything is based off 8 also (8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit… 128G, 256G, 512G). I wonder why 8 is the basis of both the development of the human mind as well computers.

    I know some of the rules that governs the system and will be watching more videos and understand the rest of them. My question to you is , do you know the basis for the rules ? • @janhradecky3141
    @janhradecky3141 Před 5 lety +4

    Hey, I was just rewatching this video because I was translating it to my mom and I noticed that you didn't explain how to get the first two functions of our type correctly. You said that the first letter of our type E/I determines whether our primary function is extraverted or introverted and then the last letter J/P determines whether it is a perceiving N/S or judging T/F function. The problem is that this only works for extraverted types and not for introverted because an INFP for example has Fi as their primary function but it's not a perceiving function, even though he is a P. So the correct way to put it would be to say that the last letter J/P determines which first *extraverted* function is perceiving or judging. Maybe you meant to say it this way but when I tried to teach my mom how to derive all the cognitive functions just from the four-letter code by using what you've said in the video it didn't work for introverts.

  • @brettbutler212
    @brettbutler212 Před 5 lety +2

    @C.S. Joseph
    I have a question regarding the functions using the spectrum approach. If we use the 0-100 scale could we say that each of the functions have a range that they can tune into within the heirarchical order you described. Where as an individual develops a specific function they become more intuned with it, they still would be in the same order but it would look something like I showed below. If this is correct, it would explain why type is so insanely complex because even though you have 2 of the same types who would have the same the order of cognitive functions they would be able to tuning into, their development would also impact their ability to tune into different functions and therefore make them seem as different people as one may be stuck in their shadow, in their hero, or improved their weaknesses and developed and be in tune with their subconscious for example.
    Hero: 76-100 frames/second
    Parent: 51-75 frames/second
    Child: 26-50 frames/second
    Inferior: 21-25 frames/second
    Nemesis: 16-20 frames/second
    Critic: 11-15 frames/second
    Trickster: 6-10 frames/second
    Demon: 1-5 frames/second
    Does this make sense?

    CS Joseph I was typing out all the types and I made it through all of the Extraverted types fine, but I downloaded your grid for typing anyone and all of the Introverts I was wrong about. Is there a different pattern for determining cognitive functions of Introverted as opposed to Extraverted?
    For example: ENTJ & INTJ
    Since they're both judging types the Hero slot would have to the 3rd slot (decision making) so Te & Ti to match the extraverted/introverted. The inverse relationship between Te/Ti and Fi/Fe would mean that the inferior functions would be Fi and Fe respectively. For the parent slot we'd use the information gathering which would be Ni for ENTJ and Ne for INTJ and Child would be Se for ENTJ and Si for INTJ. So we should end up with.
    ENTJ:
    Te, Ni, Se, Fi
    INTJ:
    Ti, Ne, Si, Fe
    How is it that you end up with INTJ being (Ni, Te, Fi, Se)

    • @attalan8732
      @attalan8732 Před 5 lety +2

      It's like this. Let's take INTJ for example. The final letter is the key, it tells you which type of function (judging or perceiving) is extroverted or should I say... most outwardly visible. It's the first thing people see about you. J means the extroverted aspect is a judging aspect. T means the judging aspect is Thinking and since the last letter is J, it gives you a Te. This means the other type of function (in this case the perceiving function) must be an introverted function. Hence, Ni. Now, this is where the first letter comes in. It tells you that the first function (in this case) must be introverted. Therefore, INTJ has a stack of Ni Te Fi Se. The third and fourth function are total opposites of the primary and auxiliary.

    • @attalan8732
      @attalan8732 Před 5 lety +1

      Even though the Ni is the primary function (hence the INTjs introversion), the first thing a person notices about them is their Te as they enjoy talking in a rational way. Hence, the final letter is J as the final letter signifies what is first obvious about the person.

    • @attalan8732
      @attalan8732 Před 5 lety +1

      Let's take the ENTJ. Once again, NTJ tells us Te and implies Ni. The order is then determined by the first letter. E tells us the first function is extroverted. Hence, Te Ni Se Fi.

    • @brettbutler212
      @brettbutler212 Před 5 lety +1

      @@attalan8732 I fully grasp that in any specific sequence of letters the first describes whether the first function is E or I, the 2nd represents the first information gathering function, the third represents the first decision making function and the fourth lets you know whether decision making or information gathering is primary. And I understand the notion of cognitive axis and them being opposites I'm just trying to figure out what logic you're using to determine Ni for the primary based on the process Chased described. Is it opposite if someone's letter starts with I as opposed to E and therefore we consider the 2nd letter a decision making function and the 3rd an information gathering function?
      I'm trying to figure out why the logic doesn't seem to follow, maybe I'm missing something. @C.S. Joseph could help.
      ENTJ vs. INTJ:
      1) Look at the 4th letter which lets us know that a decision making function should come first which in both cases would be Thinking.
      2) For the ENTJ the first letter is E so it would be Te, and for INTJ the first letter is I which would mean that it should be Ti.
      3) Hero & Inferior are opposites so ENTJ: Te, Fi and INTJ: Ti, Fe
      4) Perception functions are both secondary in these so Parent/Child functions would be Ni, Se for ENTH and Ne, Si for INTJ
      ENTJ: Te, Ni, Se, Fi
      INTJ: Ti, Ne, Si, Fe
      I know the sequence for INTJ is incorrect I'm just trying to understand the logic behind why we wouldn't follow the same pattern.

    • @attalan8732
      @attalan8732 Před 5 lety +1

      +Brett Butler ah no. The fourth letter does not indicate that a decision making function comes first. It indicates that the decision making function is most noticeable - because it is extroverted. When you come upon an introvert, the first aspect you notice is in fact their second slot, the extroverted one. This is because, well, it's extroverted, you see it manifest itself right away when you begin interacting as interactions between people is an extroverted activity. Therefore, in both cases the extroverted function will be a judging function (in this case Te for both ENTJ and INTJ), but as the E indicates in ENTJ, the Te is at the top, but for INTJ, Te is second place as the INTJ is introverted. The process is as follows: 4th letter determines whether the extroverted function is judging or perceiving, 2nd and 3rd letter gives you the type of the function (T/F, N/S), 1st letter determines order of the functions in the stack (I for introverts function at the top, E for extroverted).

    So which two functions would be responsible for someone needing to look at/see someones face in order to hear/listen to them better, other wise if looking somewhere else you could tend to zone out more easily or start overthinking what they have been saying meanwhile not listening as well to what they then are saying.... Basically visually seeing something makes it easier to hear I guess....

    So the shadow of ESFJ is ISFJ? Or maybe I'm wrong....
    Am I correct in this:
    I'll try the ISFJ:
    ISFJ, we know it starts with an introverted function. SInce J is the end, then we know that the hero function should be a judging function. So, it is Introverted Feeling first. The inferior then is the polar opposite which is extraverted thinking. Then, since it is IS, then sensing should be the parent. And since the first one is already introverted, so the parent is extroverted sensing. The child then is introverted intuition.
    So for ISFJ, based on how I understood from your examples, would be:
    Introverted Feeling
    Extroverted Sensing
    Introverted Intuition
    Extroverted Thinking
    However, I searched in google, and the hero is Introverted Sensing.
    I must be missing something. Please help.

    Are cognitive functions based on the cerebral brain? If so, how?

    What do you mean with frames per sec

      no wait better question. So you say for example an entp has ne as their first function let's say I dunno 100 frames per sec (even tho still no idea what that means, maybe a bit) but what if they developed their fe more over the years, are the fe frames higher? or can they be as high as ne?

      Good question, please watch my lecture on the 8 cognitive spectra for the answer.

      He means how strong and fast the signal for the frequency, demonstrated by frames per second, is in which our minds pick up. Our highest/hero function picks up on the strong, very fast frequency; and our demon function picks up on the slowest frequency.

      I'm very new to this, but I'll take you up on the challenge, hopefully it hasn't been to long since you posted. I am guessing you are an ENFJ based only on this comment of yours. I would love to know if I am even close. Thanks for the fun, and to keep the experiment going I wonder if anyone can identify my type.

    sub concious isfj for a long period of time that became humble than any personality , even in entp i was like intp but never problem in fe gathering with esfp + charisma for a short time, but now i am really hate of being humble isfj, fe +te -- so clearly knows what when people wants, and thats not so cool things ,somehow and speaking different languages now, but now i am so entp(fe) from entp (ti) so that i can exposed people finally the liars , entp s intj is fearful i told an isfp narcissist (he thought i was mad) untill exposed him, even after being met with intj became half stable my shadow , te accuracy is also so much fearful i guess, any big insult after insult can bring my shadow and he is not angry but more than that
    but infj activates my ni before, sometimes gave me an answer,
    dont know how infj guys lived after all fe knowledge more than me , i guess te absenty supported them, but they have rage too atleast
    ne ti fe solid but ,low si but backed up by ni somehow, and te active too ,but se is low cz parents literally preventing that making me mad, after telling me not social is one of thems shadows biggest problem, no shadow is fearful than shadow intj which can literally throw away anybody's shadow exept the ni doms i guess
    literally so low se even learning mma didnt help, infp detected that easily, his te is even lower than my te, but 6th ni infps is cool too they really want to help, but ni literally cost him pain😢
    i guess 1st 3 is almost same, 5th is helpful sometimes , 6th is quick , 8th we dont want to use,7th is gonna trouble us
    but really know how isfj s feeling❤ they want to help but sometimes using ti without noticing may be
