My friend saw this in Japan twice. He loved it. I will be seeing it too.

Correction. You could say that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were in the process of recovery from the devastating impact of the atomic bomb. But here, all the destroyed houses, buildings, towns and dead people you see in this movie were by the Tokyo Air Raid. 3.1 million people were damaged and 115 thousand people out of that were died. Majorities were women, kids, babies and old people. More than 850 thousand houses were destroyed. 106 times of attacks were made from the air in Tokyo from Nov 1944 to Aug 1945. 106 times onto such innocent citizens who were all poor under the war time. It was not only atomic bombs. Every single Japanese watches this movie with that knowledge. We hope that people outside Japan would watch it with that knowledge as well.

The American Monster era was decent but the Japanese are the only ones that can do Godzilla right. His look, the tone, everything.

I for the most part agree but in my opinion Toho kinda failed with some of their Godzilla works before Minus One while Monsterverse gave us more of what we wanted out of a Godzilla flick. Monster Planet trilogy and Singular Point were just not it. Im not a fan of how they made Titanosaurus into a pre evo Godzilla I wanted to see the actual Titanosaurus I know in action same for the other Kaiju in SP they deserve better then what they got in that show.
Monster Planet had a very lack luster story which would be fine is there were more monster action but there wasn't which too would have been fine if the story and characters were interesting but they weren't and when there was monster action Godzilla himself was so static that any scenes with him may as well be a still image. I'm very happy that Toho made Minus One the way they did and hope they stick to it or very close. As much as I liked Shin Godzilla I don't want Godzilla evolving into different forms to be the norm and I definitely don't want them doing that and turning other classic Kaiju that I want to see get a proper modern spotlight into pre Godzilla forms or some other bizarre fusion in the process like they did in Singular Point.
Monsterverse takes inspiration from past Godzilla eras while still being it's own unique thing and I do like/prefer a Shows,Heisei or Millennium style. In terms of a Godzilla anime I hoped the Monster Planet series and Singular Point would be a little similar to something like the Rulers of Earth Godzilla comics or other IDW Godzilla comics. I love how Minus One is it's own thing while being spiritual to the original 54 film I really hope Toho stick to that and move away from being experimental with the character the way there were with MP and SP. I liked Shin but I didn't need it a second time with Singular Point.
The suitmation really left American monster films in the dust because a lot of them were stop motion and puppets.
