I’d honestly love a real Mario game with these physics (such as shields,spin jumps and dives), their fluidity and modernness really add to the original pixel charm. And ideas like these are so creative, they make every level a fun puzzle! Please nintendo consider hiring this guy!
Somebody Should Make A Fangame With All That Level Up Stuff Including His Unique Obstacles Like Spikes, Coin Doors, etc
I mean they’ve got Super Mario odyssey they have all of that instead of the spin jumps, I think.
That idea came from evony: the king's return. I think there is no future for the series like mariocraft, gomba revolution, and the other. He create video based on what came into his mind at that time 😢

The three D models for the doors are an amazing touch and I enjoyed the remix retro theme of the metal cap. Very creative with the giant golden coins.

The doors open the wrong way for the side of them Mario passes by though.
I've seen Mario die in a lot of interesting ways throughout the history of Level Up's videos, but I really was not expecting the death by fall damage to happen. I guess its possible in Mario 64 and there is a metal cap so it kind of makes sense.

Makes me wonder if there’s some ideas there about having multiple coin doors that take away from the coin tally (so in order to proceed Mario needs to figure out which door to “feed” coins to, which would usually be the one with a lower threshold).
The giant coins remind me of that one Super Mario Galaxy 2 level where a giant spinning coin was a wall you could jump off of. Though here they seemed to be used as both a means of progression, a platform, and an obstacle. Also I love how for these animations you keep it true to to Mario game formula of teaching the player how the game is played through gameplay/level design

I’m lovin all of the creativity you’ve added into your Mario mazes recently. I honestly wished Mario could collect those coins though.
How were you able to animate the doors with a 3D look? That was such an amazing touch.
Animator here, they stretch the door sprite side bigger than the other side, then adding a seperate sprite going moving with the door as a seperate frame yet still using the same stretching technique as the door.
It always amazes me how creative you can get with Mario. Great work!

In this version of Super Mario, the coins weren't actually spinning. It was made a long time ago and they didn't have good quality back then. They stuck with the coin style and many people liked it.
