I finally got some backround story to that Malik´s between the legs goal. Never knew that there was shootout streak like that. :D
The full story definitely makes you understand the beauty of it 😁
What is the full story if I can ask?
Yes all I knew was Malik wasn’t known for scoring and then produces that highlight.. had no idea the shootout lasted that long lol
@@KingNoob7 I'd say doing such a nasty move after such a long shootout ^^
@@KingNoob7 watch from 6:38
The Malik goal is still to me the greatest shootout goal in the history of shootouts.
Geoffrey Holland faaaaacts
Geoffrey Holland I mean through the legs really isn’t that impressive tbh.
Poe Javelski, it was at the time, now all the young kids are doing it
His reaction was even better.
The fact a defenseman his size who really just doesn't score goals pulled it off is the greatest part.
There's no bigger nightmare than being an Oilers defenseman named Smith in an important playoff game
SARPBC Player I was just watching rocket league lol
It broke my heart for him I watch that game couldn’t believe it happened and then he won the cup the next year and he was given the opportunity to be the first one to pick it up and circle the rink tremendous class on every level
R u sure its the playoff? Because the rink didnt say playoff
Thats a Dang-it
@@richrealdeal6606 that was game 1 of the SCF
"6' 6", 238, not a noted goal scorer..." *proceeds to deke goalie straight out of his jock strap*
Till just now I had never known about that shootout or move. That was nuts!
Mac Sam same but I knew the move
you forgot hasnt scored all year
And it still doesn't count as a goal in the statistics. As far as I know, shootout goals don't count as an official stat.
Edward Burek I think it counts if it’s a GWG
R.I.P hockey. Life actually boring without it
You are so right
I know
So true
So very true! I wish they would show re-plays or something to give us something sporting to watch!
Karen Atchison they are in there app i think
That Patrick Stefan incident really still has insane lasting effects to this day
UGkMultiplayer him being a first overall pick doesn’t help his cause
Hockey Talk no but Edmonton making that game go to overtime meant they were not in the Bottom 5 in points that year and Chicago had less points than they did. As a result, the Blackhawks won the draft that year and picked Patrick Kane.
@@Ibelikemj someone watched steve dangle yesterday 😂 same tho
@@Ibelikemj but if edmonton got kane, then the oilers would have won more and would most likely have not have gotten mcdavid. What happened was for the best.
@@GoLeafszGo Kane's the one with 3 rings 🤷♂️
When you realize the post-season was supposed to start next week :(
Loly Pop wooooosssshhhh
When you’re a redwings fan and there hasn’t been a post season in two years :(
@@j_scumbag1762 I got to hang out with the Red Wings for two whole days during the 2007 and 2008 off-seasons, they're great dudes. I feel so sad about the current state of the team :(
OW that just hurt me 😖😖
You make me sad
I heard, “OH THERES A GOAL” and had Vietnam flashbacks to all the urinating tree intros
Ah yes, a man of culture
Same, man
If any tree fans want a time stamp, it’s 10:27
13:09 too
No Name the Patrick Stefan classic.”Oh at least I though he had it, until he blew it” at 13:03
“That does not belong in the National Hockey League” still a great line
I hate that announcer though
Yeah an odd bounce over the stick. All the players fault.
Devin Aschenbrenner But he didn’t have to put it right in the net he could’ve shot from a few feet away
Instinctive _ Wolf How can you hate Ray Ferraro. The guys an analytical genius when he comments and he doesn’t blabber constantly over the play.
The Larkness Monster he’s kind of a dickhead
12:25 *Goalie fishes puck out of the net, Flyers pissed off, entire Penguins team celebrating*
Announcer: THE GOALIE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW IT WENT IN YET, NOBODY DOES!!
i’m a new goalie, so if i let in a really soft goal, all i have to say is “at least i didn’t let it in from 200 feet!”
@@iamhooman7522 The puck is not always going to behave the way hockey players want it to, and that goes for all positions, not just goalies. I was once playing pick up hockey, so I didn't really know what my role was since I'm not that good and because I'm new to playing hockey. I'm the only one on my team at the opponent's blue line at the point, so I guess I'm an offensive defenseman in this situation, and my teammate that had the puck passes it back to me, but it bounces off my stick, goes forward out of my reach, and into the posession of their forwards. It was really frustrating since that was the only time I got to touch the puck in that game.
Don’t jinx yourself!
10:28 - Ah, so THAT's where that part of UrinatingTree's This Week In Sportsball intro came from.
13:12 - Ah, so that's where THAT part of UrinatingTree's This Week In Sportsball Intro came from.
13:03 If Stefan scored the empty net goal, that would’ve led to the Oilers getting Patrick Kane
I BlOcK bAllZ yes
And buffalo would get mcdavid
Most of these clips are Dang Its
Marek Malik with the best shootout goal of all time.
I think the 2000’s had the weirdest moments in NHL history
You know it’s a good day when weird nhl gets uploaded
HockeyHorns UK but there’s no nhl ;( at least it makes it a little more bearable.
That empty net goal by Carolina is so hard to watch knowing that if that didn’t happen the oilers could’ve won the cup
I'm fine with it.
Nick Sojka me too
Well then again it is the Oilers so there's no way they would have won it. I love Ryan Smyth but Carolina was too hot in 2005-06.
So much pain watching that clip...
Malik's goal has to be my favorite of all time! Nobody saw that coming!
The odds of the first video sequences are astronomical if you think about it
Dion Phaneuf: Never tell me the odds!
Nick Sojka I won’t ever again my deepest apologies
Toskala has been seeing that puck in his dreams every single night since that goal was scored
That’s what happens when your whole career is defined by 1 goal
...you mean in his nightmares
if you don't have hockey, improvise like this! :)
thank you for making this videos NHL and Sportsnets :D
Words cannot describe how much better those Ducks colors were.
So true. Beautiful, colorful and vibrant. Can someone remind me why they changed the uniforms and also the name to just Ducks?
Let’s talk about that Brooks Laich backhand toe drag at 7:26 though. That’s gross even though it didn’t go
Man these brought back some great memories. I'll never forget the Malik shootout goal for as long as I live.
Man do I wish we could watch games on local channels. Seeing ABC and Fox on the score boards there is the real flashback.
Aaron Davis Do you not have NBC where you’re from? They put some games on the main NBC channel, especially during the last half of the season and playoffs
@@williamhrivnak7345 I definitely appreciate that there are some games on NBC but you can't watch your home team every game on that channel. It's a just not as good as having all the local games available without a pay wall
11:10 It's been one hell of a long month for Toskala...
Peaceful classical melodies playing over disastrously bad plays and gaffs. Love it.
If only I could remember the name of the bit played during the Shootout. That was well done.
@@elimillard6912 Summer from Vivaldi's Four Seasons

Have you watched the video its in there at 13:06

That Sharks-Blues 2000 series was wild. Game 2 had the Bergevin incident at 6:06, and Game 7 had the crazy Owen Nolan goal from center ice - which ended up being the series winner!
JD's reaction to the Malik shootout goal never gets old
That's not even the longest shootout in NHL history holy god.
Rocket Backhander it used to be before the Washington Florida shootout
how long was that shootout anyway, i lost count

@@TheCandoRailfan I was working off memory.
Nice improvising boys.
1:16 Miss hearing Gary Thorne and Bill Clement call games. They were a great team!
Best US playcalling team bar none. Current NBC commentators don't even come close, even with Eddie Olczyk.
11:07 “vesa you will be on every highlight reel for a month” yeah try about 13 years
Can we all appreciate Matty2792 for making these videos
Just saying Vivaldi Winter is my favorite piece of music of all time and thank you for putting it in this video
The editor also put Summer in there, so that was neat to have both in there.
THE RANGERS CAPS SHOOTOUT WAS EVERYTHING
Congratulation but most importantly thank you on adapting during this time and still giving us some content, much much appreciated !
As a Leafs fan, I can say, this thumbnail makes me cry
That Sullivan incident is glorious.
Im so glad they are still making these
Thank you for going back and digging up these gems for us at a time like this, ya'll doin' the lords work.
Malík probably saw Otakar Vejvoda do that trick in former Czechoslovakian league.
And of course a Devils own goal to end the video. I shouldn't have been surprised.
Patrick Stefan's incident gets too much hate in my opinion, especially from the announcers which irritates me. Bad patch of ice made the puck jump. And looking at it from a logical standpoint, you'd want to just walk that puck in as close as you can get to the net. Yes they're pro hockey players and can realistically make it from about anywhere but why shoot it from 30 feet of open ice when you can just skate it in at 5 feet of open ice?
wow and it took a pro like you to know the ice was choppy, if only there was someone on a break away with an empty net who played in the NHL who had the same perception as you.
Well, given the situation, they were up by 1 with 10 seconds left when he missed the net and Hemsky scored with 3 on the clock. Why not walk it in and kill the clock? Because that could happen. Take the shot, pad the lead, game is over. You're not giving up 2 goals in under 10 seconds from center ice.
Tyler Young I play hockey and I’m speaking for all my fellow hockey players but I’m pretty sure every player at any level knows how choppy ice influences the puck and skating bud. Sorry your mom dropped you as a kid
@@nickesposito2058 oh right? so Patrick Stefan should have known about the choppy ice? Or only you and "your fellow hockey players" high level of hockey IQ was able to tell?
@@nickesposito2058 get to bed ya fuckn yank.
That Steve Sullivan moment is just perfect.
#Karma for that fan
"Can you......believe......what we...just saw" LOL
It's been only a month, but I already miss good hockey. Any hockey.
It feels like I haven’t played hockey for such a long time😖
Tomas Lulic, it looks like I forgot what hockey looks like. The moves that the players were doing were so foreign to me! I’m used to mobile games and watching F1 videos
Giuliano I feel you man
I've been hoping for a 2000's one of these!
Does anyone know what was going on with the evacuation at the yotes game? (2:38)
Hieronymoose I want to know too
Small kitchen fire at Glendale Arena. Dec 20, 2005, according to an article found on google.
I was at this game. Can confirm small kitchen fire. It was maybe my third game at the new arena and I specifically remember being 6 or 7 (ish) and saying to myself “I hate this new arena I miss America West” lol
Patrick Roy doing the Statue of Liberty when he made that save until....
Love that part as a Wings fan.
every single one of those clips was magical. that shootout, omg
12:20 why is there a face-off there

Patrik Stefan -___-
I remember I was grounded from watching tv, but I watched that game in secret with the volume almost all the way down in my room to not get caught. I honestly could not believe what I was seeing, and that I was able to witness that live.
Stars still won in OT though.
Best shootout of all time!
I totally remember the Wild/Flames game where Phaneuf broke two panes of glass! 2008 whew I guess it has been a while since that happened 😅
Sam E Phaneuf never could hit the net.
Time to binge watch all these episodes!
That Marek Malik goal is absolutely iconic
What is my life without hockey , im in a depression stage .
Ooo those 2000s jerseys
Warassus no HD footage at all though :/
Now they all suck.
I really like the adidas jerseys. Especially some of the alternate jerseys.
Malik’s between the legs goal will always be one of the best goals in NHL history

"JUST SAW?!??"
I'm glad to see that insane Ozolinsh goal in playoffs... 😂
Malik’s tweener in the 15th round is a top 50 all time hockey highlight.
13:06 is probably one of the most iconic moments in NHL history
I miss watching the Red Wings with Yzerman and Shanahan on the ice together with the russian 5. It's a damn shame what happened to Konstantinov.
I still make sure to watch some footage from the 97,98, and 02 team every year. And 02 has basically all the guys from the 90s plus more legends. I honestly just really loved watching Datsyuk and Hull play together. Hull was such a great mentor to Datsyuk. Even the 08 cup run I still watch sometimes. Osgood was unbelievable that year.
13:07 The Biggest Dang-It ever
I love the retro weird NHL
13:26 you don’t belong in a announcers booth
Gotta give more respect to my man Ray. No one had seen the replay yet. It would’ve been very difficult to see the puck bounce over Stefan’s stick up in the booth. Ferraro thought that Stefan whiffed it.
But still a little very exaggerated and over the top
Lol the 1st clip is amazing karma
Big Jim Vandermeer, at 5:06, I miss watching that guy play.
Malik's goal and the celly. Beautiful.
10:34 Urinatingtree intro
And 13:09
Weirdest part of the Sullivan thing is they look almost exactly alike
I remember watching that Stars and Oilers game. I could not believe what I had seen. It was awesome. I don't even cheer for either team
That clip of Patrik Stefan is why he’s not playing hockey anymore.
Jared Lammi Patrick Stefan sucking at hockey is why he’s not playing anymore
Love this mix
I love the weird series
13:29 Oh Ray
Who else misses the NHL?
This is amazing
I was at that game with the 200 ft goal on Toskala! I remember later on in the game another long clearing attempt was slowly making its way to the goal and the islanders fans starting oohing as if it had a shot of going in.
I’d always seen that st. louis own goal and thought it was hilarious, its even funnier now that Ive realized that that was friggin Marc Bergevin
That shootout was spectacular, and the last goal WOW lol!
That malik shootout goal was dirty 🤯😳

13:02 Man, that was BAD LUCK. Dude was being very careful, but the puck hopped on him. He wasn't being careless at all.
Just terrible luck, after earning the takeaway. Play caller was running on emotion.
