Broadwaters Archives is a new mini series of recovered clips from one of our breeders "Broadwaters Rattery". Broadwaters were breeders of Gambian and Emins Pouched Rats back in 2009 and these clips are from that era.
Toby was born with severe epilepsy. A problem that was common in Gambian Pouched Rats. Less common today, it does still sometimes appear and is believed to be directly related to genetic diversity in the lines.

My first ever fancy rat buck had epilepsy and it was terrifying to see as you never knew where they might end up or how injured they might be afterwards. His mum once ended up jammed behind a radiator! Thankfully he responded very well to the drugs and, after a year, didn't need them anymore. Unfortunately it did mean his nick name stuck and he'd only respond to that rather than his actual name (Hannibal, but the nickname was unfortunately "Spacker")
