Damn, his voice still sounds amazing… people don't realize how difficult it is to sing with that kind of range (low to high, falsetto, and screaming, all in the same song, back to back, show to show) for so long, and still not miss a note. They were always the best band of the 90s… Defined metal in grunge, etc. They rock harder than ever now. Their new album is certainly the best since Superunknown. I also heard Tool delayed release of their new album when this came out; filled up too much of the already hard-to-get music sales in the Rock genre… which is sad
I was there at Download that year, I was there to see Megadeth, Soundgarden and Black Sabbath who were on the same stage, I think I waited about 7 hours in that one spot, I even deprived myself of water so that I wouldn't have to leave. I will always treasure that I got to see Soundgarden.
IMO the Soundgarden sound is aggression and heft, but always measured, crafted and in control despite the complexity. That is also Matt Cameron's drumming - so its a perfect fit. The whole Pearl Jam thing has more of an awesome reckless abandonment to it. Cameron drums the same way in both - but his approach fits Soundgarden that much more. I think Jack Irons is the quintessential PJ drummer.
1996... was the last time I have seen them live.. it was here in my hometown in Germany... Down on the Upside tour. October 1996... still have the Ticket here. This is one of my favourite Songs.. along with "the day I tried to live". One of the best Concert in my entire life. I am 38 now.. and I am proud to know Soundgarden!
Just saw them on Lima - Perú last night and this song was AMAZING! Is voice was better than ever on this show. I hope they comeback soon. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen and Ben is really the coolest dude alive lml OUTSHINED! OUTSHINED! OUTSHINED!
Chris' voice at his top! Best version of Outshined i will ever hear -> 2:25 - 2:38 -> 3:50 - 4:15 Hearing this is like externalizing the pain and torment blocked inside of me
How I wish we'd protect more people like Chris for they are definitely a heritage . They have given us so much while yet suffering from the inside. This whole world of music should have a look at this because it's killing the people who've taken it to another level and have made it unique because , if not, in the end , it will remain with nothing. Janis Joplin, Elvis, Chris Cornell , Michael , John Bonham , George Michael ...the list keeps on becoming bigger.
I got up feeling so down I got off being sold out I've kept the movie rolling But the story's getting old now I just looked in the mirror Things aren't looking so good I'm looking California And feeling Minnesota, oh yeah So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today It gives me butterflies Gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again I'm feeling outshined Someone let the dogs out They'll show where the truth is The grass is always greener Where the dogs are shedding I'm feeling that I'm sober Even though I'm drinking I can't get any lower Still I feel I'm sinking So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today It gives me butterflies Gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again I'm feeling outshined
the 2nd july i was in Villafranca near Verona(Italy) to see them... 300 kilometers from where i live.. and 300km to go back home.. :D ..and it was F***ing amazing... two side notes.. Chris give his shirt to a fan that gave him earlier an italian country flag... and Ben at the end of the last song give his bass guitar to a fan from the first row... omg.. :D i have uploaded one song.. Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World - Verona, Italy (02.07.2014)
I saw these guys at Lollapalooza 92'.......with Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Unbelievable lineup. I didn't know how lucky I was.
soundgarden guitar parts are so hard to play while singing not because they are technical/shred-ish, but because of the really odd time signatures and sudden shifts and changes in the riffs (rusty cage for example). without the guitars, chris can really put all of his focus on the singing
just saw SOUNDGARDEN at the mac in Longbranch NJ I was in awe throughout the entire show. Enough said you have to see these guys true musicians no BS.....
Hell Yeah It Ain't Dead! I still play drums, smoke pot, fly the flannel flag, & rock out to some of the best Grunge in the world! Grunge will always live!
So glad I can say I was hear for this. You dont realise it at the time but Im so grateful I was to see all these bands. Lets be honest music nowadays is shit
He probably just trained it, but everyone with a tenor voice, trained enough can sound like him :) but he and Eddie Vedder are my favorite singers on the world!
I am a fan of Chris Cornell but unfortunately I knew him after his death, I always liked rock music but as I’m from Brasil in my region people don’t listen to rock too much, what I grow up listening was influence from friends band.... no one never came and said like “look this band called soundgarden, and I was young at the begging of my teenage I didn’t have computer to search for others bands, my first band I loved was black sabbath and Izzy because they were popular between the rock m rollers of my city, I wish I could knew soundgarden, today I live in UK I’m a fan of Cornell, sorry for being late

Anyone who got to witness Cornell or soundgarden live before Chris Cornell’s passing, you’re extremely lucky, and never forget what you witnessed.
I was there at Download that year, I was there to see Megadeth, Soundgarden and Black Sabbath who were on the same stage, I think I waited about 7 hours in that one spot, I even deprived myself of water so that I wouldn't have to leave. I will always treasure that I got to see Soundgarden.
@@SpicyDragoon I was there too. Rough year with the weather but worth it!!!
Matt Cameron seems like such a better drummer in Soundgarden than he does in Pearl Jam. It's almost like 2 different drummers completely.
indeed my friend
it's those odd time signatures.
Thats why he's so freaking good/He's a beast
The METAL Institution agree!!
IMO the Soundgarden sound is aggression and heft, but always measured, crafted and in control despite the complexity. That is also Matt Cameron's drumming - so its a perfect fit. Chris Cornell's voice is still majestic IMO
Badass! Fucking Killer! What a band!
so sad to see him go so soon
Chris Cornell thank you for your great music! One of the most influential musical artists of all time! #RIP
gives me the chills how effortlessly he belts it out... rip CC
Gamze Öyünç it gives me the butterflies

what a vocalist!
Just get thrilled by the heavy, profound, and groovy guitar riffs, as well as Crhis's psychedelic vocal. R.I.P. Chris.
Badass Performance Kim is badass at guitar
one of those bands with an almost absurd amount of talent within it.
HOLY SHIT they still sound goddamn amazing live
This is real rock'nroll band!
so no one's gonna talk about how awesome the guitar parts were.
Shun Jags Kim, guitar guru.
No need to mention it. Everyone knows Kim is the man, without question.
So, so good.
Goes without saying but yeah sure kickass
Kim is a great guitarist. Underrated
I love everything about this song so much...totally energises me.
I got up feeling so down
I got off being sold out
I've kept the movie rolling
But the story's getting old now
I just looked in the mirror
Things aren't looking so good
I'm looking California
And feeling Minnesota, oh yeah
So now you know, who gets mystified
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
It gives me butterflies
Gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
I'm feeling outshined
Someone let the dogs out
They'll show where the truth is
The grass is always greener
Where the dogs are shedding
I'm feeling that I'm sober
Even though I'm drinking
I can't get any lower
Still I feel I'm sinking
So now you know, who gets mystified
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
It gives me butterflies
Gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
I'm feeling outshined
PerroLoko 7 where the dogs are shitting*
Michael Murphy where?
Chris makes it all look so damn effortless.
Bandeira brasileira é mais linda do mundo!!
The Brazilian flag is the most beautiful in the world!!
Man, Matt is such an awesome drummer. His creativity in SG is bar ass, as always
puro sentimento
Happy birthday, Chris ❤
RIP another great singer bites the dust 100 out 10
SUPERB... Nothing like being at a concert- most awesome feeling in the world !!
Chris is amazing!!! Our star shine forever!!
Ben Shepherd is the coolest dude ever
the whole band are super cool coolest ever
Carlos García Figueroa what's with the ear plug in his left ear??
Henry Colt The ear plug is used as a headphone so he can hear whats going on. It is really damn difficult to hear otherwise from that position.

Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World - Verona, Italy (02.07.2014)
Chris Cornell's voice is a gift! Seriously! Never ceases to blow me away for more than 20 yrs already!
that guitar's tone sounds really good
Ari Lutfi Wahyudi Totally agree, crispy, raw and rocking guitarsound here. Noted that Kim plays a Guild guitar of some kind....
Facts. Real grunge.
PHAT!
I saw these guys at Lollapalooza 92'.......with Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Unbelievable lineup. I didn't know how lucky I was.
Very lucky indeed!! I was born in 1993. :(
Don't forget Lush!
legend
Anyone notice how Chris's vocals get significantly better when he's not playing a guitar at the same time?
That's the case for most vocalists. They can focus on the words and hitting notes better when their attention isn't diverted.
soundgarden guitar parts are so hard to play while singing not because they are technical/shred-ish, but because of the really odd time signatures and sudden shifts and changes in the riffs (rusty cage for example). without the guitars, chris can really put all of his focus on the singing
That's an understatement! You're right on. Completely agree.
No.
He's not limited to his own timing, but is one with the band. It allows for more focus and a solid inherent backbone.
Seattle good and old times, i miss that.
WOW!!!! This is amazing! Sounds cliché...but Chris Cornell's voice is like wine...gets better with age!
Amazing like always Soundgarden
just saw SOUNDGARDEN at the mac in Longbranch NJ I was in awe throughout the entire show. Enough said you have to see these guys true musicians no BS.....
Hell Yeah It Ain't Dead! I still play drums, smoke pot, fly the flannel flag, & rock out to some of the best Grunge in the world! Grunge will always live!
The irony is no one could outshine Chris…2022 and still the best
